As soon as you walk into the tea room you are overwhelmed with a sense of warmth, beauty and elegance. It is obvious a great deal of time and effort with attention to detail went into selecting the color pallet on the walls, artwork and beautiful china. It was clearly designed by someone who has a keen sense of style. The teas were varied, food presentation was pleasing to the eye and tasted as good as it looked. We enjoyed it so much we are having our dear friend's birthday party there. It was a pleasure to meet James who expertly guided us in the selection of our menu for the upcoming event. We are certain our guests will have a unique experience. Thank you James.

What an extraordinary place! I held my daughter's baby shower there yesterday. I was expecting it to be nice, but had no idea how awesome an experience it would be. The teas were varied and wonderful, the food was excellent (even better than I hoped for) and the environment is both elegant and comfortable. But I was completely blown away by the level of service and the warm, caring attitude of everyone there. Totally helpful and accommodating, way beyond my highest expectations. And the owner, James, enhanced the experience even more with his charming, knowledgeable discussion about the teas and scones. Could not have been more delighted!

I wanted to take a moment, to say thank you for a job well done. My daughter's bridal shower could not have been better. From the moment I arrived and saw how beautiful everything looked, I knew this would be a shower she will remember fondly. I want to thank your staff for the assistance provided unloading my car and then helping Christina load her gifts into her car at the end. I could not have asked for better service, the ladies were very gracious throughout the event. Our guests had a delightful time and I heard many wonderful compliments about the food, service, teas, and you. I cannot thank you or your staff enough for helping us to keep the surprise right up to the very last minute. We have wonderful memories for years to come. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Julia Sheridan

Cosy Cupboard has a special place in my heart--because its owner, James, has a big heart himself. Every year he generously donates a Grand Tea to be auctioned off to help numerous charities and schools, including the one I'm directly involved with, which provides critical services to children with autism. It is always a highly bid-on auction item, mostly because Cosy Cupboard is known in the area for its so-quaint atmosphere and its wonderful foods and teas. The apple butter and cinnamon scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam are really good and the tomato soup is some of the best I ever tasted. The tea sandwiches had a nice assortment. The Grand Edwardian tea was a good value--I couldn't finish it all and I have a large appetite! I had the Darjeeling (loose tea) with it was rich and flavorful. Another really nice thing: they don't rush you and you aren't crammed in. So if you want to go with some friends and have some quality time, this is the place to go.

I hosted a baby shower. The theme was a Classic Winnie the Pooh. The event was held Nov. 15 and the experience was everything I hoped for. James made it a true event, everyone had a wonderful time. The food and service were excellent. The scones were absolutely the best I have ever had. What made the day such an wonderful experience was the staff. I recommend that you consider the Cosy Cupboard for your next event.

I just logged in today to leave a review for our visit yesterday with friends (and three children! they were very accommodating of the children and knew just how to pace things to keep the kids from climbing the walls, and we were there for the grand tea). We stopped in before going to the Morris Museum (just around the corner), and every single thing we had was fantastic. These are the only tea sandwiches I have ever enjoyed (the egg salad was deliciously herby), the chocolate mousse was rich, the tea was perfectly brewed, the scone was delightful (I tried the lemon poppy seed and the butter brickle my husband ordered) and the Devonshire cream mentioned below was impressively fresh (fresh enough there was some visible whey on the plate, perhaps accounting for Arielle's impression it was spoiled? it was delicious to me and I certainly didn't get ill, nor did anyone else with me). We intend to go back often as a sort of informal tea time and a show with the museum's theater program.

I came here for my birthday with some friends. The atmosphere is very cute and quaint. I was not very impressed with the food however. My clotted cream seemed sour or spoiled. I was not very thrilled. Not sure if I would come back nor would this be my first choice for afternoon tea.

If you want a wonderful venue for your daughter's Bridal Shower, then you must have it at the Cosy Cupboard Tea Room in Morristown, NJ. On May 17th 2014 I had my daughter Rebecca's shower there for 36 guests. Mr. Howard and staff helped facilitate my Alice in Wonderland themed party. It could not have been any lovlier. I decorated his already beautiful tea room with just a splash of nicknacks for the theme. The menu was incredible with 2 choices of soup, a salad, customized tea sandwiches, a salmon tart, 2 choices of scones and a beautifully decorated themed cake to order. Mr. Howard picked 4 teas that were all delicious and unique. In addition, chef Tom was hired to come in and do a wonderfully scrumptious crepe station along with demonstation. All were delicious. My guests were enchanted by Mr. Howard's discertation about tea and scones. It was lovely. This was a party any bride coud only dream about. My guests coud not stop talking about the day! My daughter thanked me profusely and wished that the day would never end. If you want something different, this is the place for you. I had looked at many tea houses before choosing this one. I ate lunch there with my daughter who was Rebecca's maid of honor and we both aggreed that this was the place for the shower. In addition, Mr. Howard uses loose tea leaves, not tea bags. He has beautiful English china and tea pots to serve all his fare.We can't wait to go back to this tea room and have lunch and delicious tea! Nadia B. The tea was GREAT- I especiallly loved the Lady Londonberry. Fruity and nutty-- great. I did wish they kept the tea warm considering we were BIG tea drinkers (it's huge in the southasian culture) and many of us asked for a try of each of the tea every 45 minutes or so. The tea sandwiches weren't that inspiring but still very good. The manager/owner was very nice and accommodating. Set up a prayer room for us, was super friendly and very professional-- as was the staff! I definitely plan to do another shower here for my own sister when the time comes-- what an adorable place. My only recommendation is keep the tea warm and more unique sandwiches. Was this review …? Useful 4 Funny Cool 3 Flag review Risha N. However, we had a 3 pm reservation and didn't sit down until closr to 4. I don't understand why we needed a reservation if they could not honor it. The place is quaint. We sat on the table and received dirty plates. The food was mediocre. The quiche had too much egg and the sandwiches were nothing special. The scones were decent. However, I agree with some of the other reviewers, the desserts seemed like they were bought from a grocery store... nothing special. They did have a nice selection of teas and it was always nice and hot. Based on our overall experience and how much we paid, I wouldn't recommend this spot nor would I return. Was this review …? I really enjoy the tea and the give course meal option. The salad was good, the tomato basil soup a bit sweet, they catered to the fact I don't eat meat and made some vegetarian sandwiches for me. The scone was delicious! I wasn't impressed by their dessert selection, I expected better desserts for some reason. The one thing I didn't like is that they were out of a few selections of tea. I guess they don't order the right amount. Overall I would totally go back Was this review …? Useful Funny Cool Flag review Justine G. We went for a friend's birthday and the staff were very accommodating and friendly, everyone left with a positive impression and a desire to return. This place is set up like a simple Victorian house, the decorations are a little sparse but nice. Do not go with anyone loud, this is low key kind of place. The food is simple but good, I got the soup, salad, and sandwiches. If you're a picky eater, this is not the place for you, the menu is limited and set. The chicken roulade was a bit on the sweet side, but I liked it. My friend got the quiche which she said was very good. The scones were really tasty, I just wish we got more than one each. The price was ok, it wasn't super expensive but the plates were on the small side. The owner also spoke to us and answered any questions we had, his warmth and friendliness were a big factor in making me want to patronize this place again. If I can't get into the city to go to Tea and Sympathy, this will do the trick. I also think its a great place to take your mom/aunt/grandma for a nice afternoon out. Was this review …? My husband and I rode our bikes on a beautiful sunny day and it was lovely to have a tall glass of iced tea delivered quickly to our table. The place was well decorated, music pleasant. It appeared to have central air but they were using a window unit - strange, but serviceable. The tea sandwiches were eh - cucumber and cream cheese, or turkey and swiss, or chicken salad on stale bread with crusts cut off - not exactly a 'High Tea' experience. Scones were good with jam and in-house clotted cream. Desserts were either premade from an outside vendor or made from frozen or canned fruits and Cool Whip! Why would you use Cool Whip when you can make fresh clotted cream? Why sacrifice taste and use frozen/canned fruits when fresh is in season?! Service (by Jessica and staff) was excellent; the owner was not as courteous, although I honestly don't think he understood that. We watched him move two seated guests because his staff had sat them at a 4 top, when the courteous thing to do is let the guests remain seated and remove excess flatware, etc. to the other table. I heard him explain to two ladies that he serves the jam and clotted cream in a small glass bowl (which was perfectly fine) because it saves on the cost of providing those little one-time-use jam jars - guests shouldn't and don't need to know that! He also interrupted our conversation to tell us we ate our scones with incorrect etiquette.... Really? His son and general manager was friendly but did not appear to understand that calling out, 'Dad, Can you come here?' is rude when when his father is currently conversing with guests. The appropriate thing to have done would have been to wait until his father (owner) was finished speaking and then ask to see him for a minute. I would have given 3 stars until I saw the owner's behavior in action. In summary, for $35/person, improvement is warranted. This place could benefit from some of Gordon Ramsey's input. I was excited to hear of one moving to the area since there is only one other one I can think of. When I arrived I was surprised by how full the dining area was for a Thursday afternoon. Glad I made a reservation as we were seated right away. I ordered the orange tea and a friend ordered the English breakfast. Both of the teas arrived shortly thereafter in generous sized pots. For lunch we had both ordered the Avonlea tea, which was perfect for us. The tomato soup was delicious, the sandwiches were very pleasant, and the lemon poppy scone was the best choice that was paired with their homemade clotted cream. After all that we were offered dessert, which to I had thought was the scone. At the recommendation of the host, I tried the English Trifle, it was delicious. All in all I was very pleased with my experience here. As a note about price, this place is defiantly a $$ place, but it's on the higher end. If you plan on getting tea and assorted goodies expect to spend between 23 and 27 a person for that. Was this review …? Useful 6 Funny Cool Flag review Sandra S. Manhattan, NY 38 friends 43 reviews Share review Compliment Send message Follow Sandra S. 3/14/2013 The tea is decent, the scones are delectable, and the rest of the food is palatable if a bit simple. But I cannot, in good conscience, give a high rating to a place that charges $30+ (incl. tax and tip) for a pot of tea, a mini sandwich, some lettuce, and a scone. In NJ! Seriously! I've had afternoon tea at XIX in Philadelphia and the Plaza Hotel in NYC in the same price range but for much more elegant fare. For the people who put this at $$.... have you forgotten that this isn't even a real meal?! Was this review …? Useful 4 Funny Cool Flag review Jinn A. Go there... linger... and enjoy. The decor is so elegant, and I felt so ladylike and pampered as I sipped my aromatic tea served in china. Despite the upper crust vibe, the owner and his staff are so down to earth and friendly, it keeps the place from becoming too saditty. They had jazz nights in the summer, which I attended twice and had a really great time. Even if you don't like tea or jazz music, it's worth the trip just for the Sprimp Creole, which I think is only offered on the evening menu. They have awesome desserts. Oh yum. The desserts are worth an extra star, but I am limited to five. Was this review …? Useful 3 Funny Cool 1 Flag review Spencer W. Setting is nice, it's a cute little house sort of setup. Having lived in London and gone to some of the best afternoon tea on the planet, it's probably unfair to compare. But against the best - the tea was excellent loose leaf with plenty to choose from, however the food could have been better...everything was just ok when it could have been much better...italian wedding soup, a green salad, the mini sandwiches, quiche, scones and dessert...we sampled it all. Just seemed to lack that extra bit of freshness...we had mixed berries and cheesecake for dessert - but the berries were of the frozen variety when you'd expect fresh fruit if that's all your dessert has. Anyways, for those who haven't tried Afternoon tea, it's a nice setting and experience but food isn't top notch. Was this review …? Useful 4 Funny 1 Cool 1 Flag review Sylvia L. I ordered the Rose Cottage Tea. Basically you get some finger sandwiches, 1 scone (lemon I think that day) and 1 dessert (think you can choose mousse was an option but I chose the cheesecake). The food itself was good; however I left kinda hungry for $24. I've been to places in the city that might be slighty more but I felt full. I have uploaded some photos. You also get a bottomless pot of tea which is nice but beware. If you ladies want to get the same tea, make sure to order your own pot as the taste got diluted with the larger pots. Also when we ordered a different pot of tea, I felt it took a VERY long time so make sure to order another pot ahead of when you might want it. They have a lot but it's not that large for a busy day. They were busy the day I went so make sure to make a rsvp. Cheesecake Cheesecake Lemon Scone Lemon Scone Assorted Finger Sandwiches Assorted Finger Sandwiches Was this review …? It is difficult to find tea made in a tea-pot anywhere (ie loose leaf tea) so for that reason I give the Cosy Cupboard five stars. The scones were delicious and fresh but they were not traditional enough for me. I like my scones plain (more like American style biscuits, not an exact match but that is more like it) and the scones at Cosy Cupboard Tea Room were sugared on top with other flavors. However, I think that Americans appreciate this type of scone so it may be that the owner (who I think originally hales from Jamaica) adopted that kind so to not 'scare the horses.' Despite this minor queja, having the scones as part of a Devonshire tea was very cosy. Other dishes are available that would contribute to a full lunch if this is your interest. Was this review …? They say is it was the best shower they went to. The cozy cupboard owner, james, and his son were the most accommodating men you could ever meet. They did not have two sandwiches on their menus that my pregnant self was craving and I asked them if they could make it special for my party and they said 'absolutely' and made it for my party and it was delicious! They helped me with setting up the room so everyone would fit comfortably. I had around 40 guests and lots of large gifts. They also were very interactive with all of my guests, so everyone felt like they were at a home of a great friend or relative. James taught everyone the proper way to eat a scone and then left a extra tray for everyone to an additional one home. (There wasnt a scone, or crumb left... they are by far the best scones you will ever eat in your life.... and Im not even a scone person!) The china the cozy cupboard uses is so elegant and classy. If you are looking for a place to had a bridal or baby shower this is the place.. This has now become my mom and I 'special place' to go for brunch. We were so disappointed in the service and unsophisticated demeanor of the personnel of this tea room. The food tasted good but lacked in quantity. I was looking forward to a ritualistic English-Victorian style service with the 3-tiered tea cake server that allows guests to sample delicacies and taste more than one sandwich piece per person. However, the service was an American - 3 course style. We received a single plate each with 5 rationed mini-sandwiches each. 30 minutes later, it was followed by one scone each on a clean plate. Our last course was dessert. I was hoping for a plate of miniature pastries to redeem the meal, but this was not so. For example, my mother received a 3-inch peach tart cut in half.

My favorite part of the tea is always the scones with each person getting their own individual bowl of clotted cream and jam. Thanks so much James and Vincent!!!

My friends and I on a dreary, rainy Friday afternoon had the Grand Tea in this lovely teahouse. We were greated by Mr. James Howard, the owner, and he escorted us into the lovely Victorian dining room. The service was wonderful. We enjoyed several varieties of tea with the fresh tomato basil soup followed by a wonderful salad. We enjoyed the variety of tea sandwiches and then we had scones with cream and jam. Mr. Howard explained some of his vast knowledge of tea to us. We then were served a variety of dessert, which was enjoyed by all! It was a delightful afternoon!

When my husband Gene and I were in the mood for a nice cup of tea to refresh our spirits and take away the gloom of a late January afternoon, we were fortunate to find the Cosy Cupboard Tea Room on Old Turnpike Road in scenic Morritown. Little did we know what a rare treat lay in store for us. Not only did we find the delicious and soothing tea we were seeking, we also discovered a magical place where beauty reigned and good taste ruled the day. We were greeted by James, the warm and friendly proprietor, who treated us like old friends and in the course of an enriching, delightful conversation quoted Henry James, shared stories about his amazing family, and introduced us to one of his friends, a beautiful woman and former M.D., Unjeria Jackson, who recently wrote a book about her personal collection of over 10,000 teapots. Her book, Teapots by Design, was so artistically pleasing and so well-researched that we purchased a copy. We highly recommend it for any tea lover who also enjoys collecting. Basking in the warmth of good conversation, and comforting cups of tea, Gene and I felt as if we entered Victorian England, as we enjoyed our feast of home-made soup, sandwiches, and savory scones hot from the oven. Everything was served on Royal Albert fine china by Annabella, our most helpful and friendly server. We highly recommend the Cosy Cupboard Tea Room to anyone who longs for a warmly lit space where elegance and charm await to please. Our experience there was one we will long savor and hopefully share again with friends.

I was visiting from Los Angeles when a dear friend suggested we stop for tea. Neither of us had been there before, but it was an excellent experience. Service was wonderful and the menu selection was beyond my expectation. We had no reservation and were treated as if we were expected. It was a terrific way to spend a cold afternoon with a dear friend

My friends & I came in on Weds for our Christmas luncheon (8 ladies). We were warmly welcomed & expertly served by Vinnie. All the women enjoyed themselves immensely. I was very happy because I chose Cosy Cupboard. My mom & I were in about 2 months ago (also served by Vinnie) and we loved the food, atmosphere & service then too. Thanks for a lovely afternoon! See you soon. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Best regards, Karen

Where do you go when you want to unwind? Take a time out from life or just enjoy a private conversation without the distractions of tragedy and stress plaguing many of us in recent days? Can't think of that perfect place? I can. About a month ago, I stumbled onto a cozy afternoon tea room in Morristown, New Jersey called 'The Cozy Cupboard'. I discovered this lovely tea room because my wife is a big tea fan, and I thought it would be a nice thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. I personally love the home made scones. I've been told people travel from miles away for these delights

I discovered this cozy little tea house through teamap.com while on a recent trip to PA. Everything about The Cozy Cupboard is enchanting. The decor is warm and inviting. The tea was very well prepared and the tea sandwiches artistically arranged on the floral Royal Albert china plates. I indulged in the scrumptious Iced Poppy scone and decadant chocolate mousse. Both James Howard, the proprietor and his son Vinnie were welcoming, attentive and engaging. My only regret is that I'm from the Boston area and can not return as often as I would like. This tea house is a 'must do'.

I really enjoyed my afternoon tea. However, I felt the service was a little slow and we didn't receive a pot of tea we requested, we didn't make a fuss since we we waited so long and were ready to leave so we let it go. I wasn't impressed that the creamer dish on our table had quite a bit of dust in it. Overall I would go back, the staff was very friendly and seemed to be willing to accomodate our requests. The soup was delcious as well as the salad, sandwiches and scone. I didn't care for my dessert, but it could have just been my choice.

My first visit to the Cosy Cupboard was wonderful! We were cordially greeted by the owner and server upon our arrival. The atmosphere is not at all stuffy, and we were truly shown genuine hospitality. Our five tea sandwiches were very tasty, and the scone was perfect! The mixed salad was fresh, and the pear tart and cheesecake desserts were delicious! We chose the green fruity tea (can't remember the name) which was very good. You can stay as long as you like, and will be asked if you would like another choice of tea to try. The best part is the reasonable price of this tearoom experience. I will definitely return to this charming tearoom for another pleasant afternoon!

Dear James, The Bridesmaids Tea was a huge success. Your fruit and cheese plate, sandwiches, scones, salad and desserts were outstandingly delicious. Thank you for taking the time to replate the tiers so the presentation was exactly as I wanted. I appreciate your taking the time to deliver another plate of sandwiches and the individual bags of Cozy Cupboard tea were a nice surprise and great addition to the table favors. The strawberry cheesecake was devoured down to the last crumb on Sunday as part of the menu at a post wedding brunch. So delicious!!

This is my second review for the cozy cupboard. It should have been posted a long time ago but life got in the way. In any case, i had my bridal shower at the cozy cupboard in april and i couldnt have asked for a better place, host, food etc. I searched a lot of different venues, some tea rooms some not but none offered what the cozy cupboard did. James, his son and entire staff are wonderful to work with. Their prices are on point for the quality of food and service that you get. All my guests enjoyed themselves and still talk about what a great time they had. I cant wait to gi back. Me and my now husband have been acjing for aome of their amazing tea sandwhiches and scones! just thinking about it is making me hungry for some. And to any sceptics... try it iut for yourselve. Silly people, you dont kmow what your, missing. This place is a hidden gem.

I just got back from Cosy Cupboard and wanted to post a quick review. I went with a large party - 10 people, 5 adults, 5 kids - to celebrate my mother's birthday. I have to say, the food was unexpectedly good. We tried just about everything on the menu and the biggest hit was The White Sands. It came with something called 'chicken roulade.' We all thought it was going to be a chicken sandwich of sorts, but it wasn’t – it’s hard to explain, but it was absolutely delicious! I’m glad my dad ordered it and (reluctantly) let us all try it! James couldn’t have been a more gracious host. He even showed us the proper way to eat a scone, which was fun. The tea selection was nice, too – I wish I remembered the name of the favorite, but it was something with orange and those of us who tried it (hot as well as iced) liked it a lot. The service was very relaxed and perfect for our party and we were grateful we weren’t rushed in and out. If you read these reviews, thank you James! And thank you for helping my mom feel so special with your surprise when we left :)

The venue was beautiful. The sandwiches were wonderful, as was the desert and soup. The scones were nice, but I found them average. The tea also was good, but the variety needs to be a bit better and the house tea needed a bit more flavor. Overall the experience was very pleasant with a wonderful atmosphere, and beautiful location. Easy access for those driving or commuting from the city or surrounding areas. Service could have been just a hair better, but the owner was very kind and helpful and engaging. I would go back.

I hosted my future sister in law's bridal shower here in February and it was a fabulous event! We did a basic 4 course menu (salad, sandwiches, scones, and dessert). There was a selection of five teas to try and we also brought champagne and they set up a mimosa bar for us. Everything was delicious but the scones were my favorite. James helped me plan every aspect of the shower and executed everything perfectly. The flowers they provided for the tables in the color of my choice were beautiful. The two servers were professional and attentive and everything was served in a timely, but not rushed, fashion. The ambiance in the rose room was lovely and it was the perfect amount of space for 25 people. All the guests were very happy, including the bride. I will definitely be back again!

I guess we picked the wrong day to have a baby shower. James the owner did not give us a formal contract for the services of the event. I had arranged a meeting to sample the food and settle on a reservation, James was two hours late for our appointment his excuse was that he forgot.I did sample the food for the event and it was fabulous as well as the service and quaint atmosphere. Expecting the food and service to be the same or better for the baby shower, I was really disappointed on how the event was organized, it did not go as planned. Perhaps it was the second party of the day and staff was exhausted. Our time for the event was changed three times by owner due to his first client being being a VIP customer and he did not want to rush her from the place so he gave us a 15% discounted but he made up for it in the gratuity (he did not mention % in the contract). The set up of the tables was wrong for the event, it was poorly planned, the owner winged the whole event and we did not get any of the desserts that were paid, also we had paid extra for a crepe station (for the presentation and food selection) well it was not done nicely. The tea was very good and the room was beautiful. The guests had a lovely time and said it was the best shower they have ever been to!! despite the side lines. But service does matter also and it was very lacking that day.

Our baby shower yesterday was such a success largely due to you and your wonderful staff. The feedback I got as our guests left was all positive, they loved the food, the room, the tea, the china and the whole experience of an afternoon tea luncheon. When I got home I received phone calls telling me more of the same. Most of all Stephanie enjoyed herself and the afternoon. I hope the ladies we not too loud, it seemed like the volume in the room kept getting louder as our event went on. Your professionalism and organization makes your Tea Room stand out among all the others that I have been to. My son-in-law is from England and he says The Cosy Cupboard is the most authentic and gets a thumbs up !! We had 25 ladies for a baby shower and no one left without telling me what a beautiful place to host an event. Our food was served to us in the most friendly, helpful atmosphere where our cups and plates were constantly being refilled! There were so many staff and each one was more personable than the other! It was like one big family supporting this event to make sure it was a 100% success. The food was delicious and I will never forget the outstanding service. The Cosy Cupboard offers that good old fashioned charm with service that is hard to find these days! There were about 40 boxes that we opened and I never lifted one item myself. Each staff member helped me to load the cars...Didn't even ask...just knew what to do. It is a well run room and the proprietor and his assistant are helpful, professional and quite accomodating! If you want an event to remember I can recommend this tea room and promise you will be delightfully surprised! And, if you want a quiet afternoon tea to enjoy with the ladies this place is for you! I just returned from another visit to the Cosy Cupboard. First, I want to apologize to the proprietor James Howard (not James Robert) for changing his name in my previous review. Second, a friend and I were served tea in the Cameo Room and my friend mentioned how calming the room color was (a beautiful green) and how personable and polished he found James to be. He also loved the food and thought the chicken roulade was exceptional. This time, instead of the Italian wedding soup listed on the menu, we were served a richly flavored tomato soup that was just delicious. In addition, they had lemon poppy seed scones that were delectable. I'm confident that this tea place will be a favorite of many in the near future.

I expected a bland experience because the outside of this tea house is an uninspiring square-looking house but our encounter inside left us in awe. My boyfriend and I tried this place on their grand opening weekend and what a delight it was. James Robert, the owner and host made our experience wonderful. Since we were the first arrival of the day, we were introduced to the staff and were seated in the crisp and simple but impeccably designed Rose Room with matching tableware. Their other room, the Cameo Room, is equally as stunning and is in the process of being fully furnished. I must take tea in this room next. I opted for the five course tea service and also an order of quiche on the side. The Italian wedding soup and salad was delicious and the finger sandwiches and quiche were very good. The lemon pound cake I ordered for dessert was excellent. The chicken roulade with Stilton cheese that my boyfriend ordered rendered him speechless (except for a few umms and ahhhhs) so I was compelled to sample it. My reaction was “OH MY” this is absolutely divine! Since they are not in full business mode yet, they offered a slightly limited selection of 9-12 teas but will have 42 teas to choose from in the future. I believe the black tea we ordered was Lady Londonderry and it was excellent. They do leave the leaves in the teapot which can render the tea bitter if you don’t drink it fast enough. We did not have this problem but if you prefer not to have this, I suspect the host would be agreeable to straining the tea before serving if you asked (although we did not ask). The service was superb and the total experience was so relaxing with the addition of the piano and classical CDs playing in the background. As a result of this exquisite tea service, The Cosy Cupboard has now made it on my list of two favorite tea places along with High SocieTea. For my boyfriend, it is now his number one place. Additional info for future patrons: - They are in the process of stocking their gift shop - Parking is in the rear of the building but the entrance is in the front - We found it difficult to find via GPS because Convent Station was not in either of our two GPS units, instead we had to enter in Morristown - The place is located across from train tracks next door to a Montessori school Two suggestions for the tea room: - They must put the zip on their web site so that the place can be found in a GPS and they might want to say on their website “If using a GPS, you might have to enter Morristown.” - They need to spice up their scones as they were way too simple. There’s this English lady who sells scones at the farmer’s market on Sundays from June through October at Olde Lafayette Village in Lafayette, NJ that are absolutely the best scones I’ve ever tasted next to the ones served at High SocieTea. My suggestion would be to try to imitate these flavors. In summary, The Cosy Cupboard surpassed my expectations and will only get better with time.

Tea is looseleaf (over 40 to pick from) and is served with fancy silver strainers. Food is top quality and prepared with utmost attention to detail. They are very new, so just be patient as they work out their kinks @ first and enjoy your experience!
