Candleberry Tea Room & Cafe / The Gift Box
The place is a nice atmosphere but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I found their recipe for their success and it comes from GFS. Nothing is homemade it is all pre-packaged food that is simply warmed and served. So I find that the prices for un-homemade food here is a bit too steep.
Tearoom response:
This is a disgruntled former employee, who seems to have a problem with our success. Our menu has chicken salad, pimento cheese, olive nut, tuna salad, dilly egg salad, Kentucky Hot Brown, herb tomato soup, Ruebens, the Italian, grilled cheese w/ bacon, grilled Bacon Egg, mushroom quiche, asperagus quiche, country sausage quiche, classic BLT, turkey blt, congealed tea salads, courtyard salad, paradise pie, east of eden pie, coconut merringue pie, chocolate merringue pie, nilla wafer cake, Ky bread pudding with bourbon sauce, brownie delight, and much much more… NONE of which can be bought pre-made at Gordon Food Service. (We do buy our meats, potato chips, mayo, chocolate morsels, carmel sauce, napkins, straws, coffee, etc from GFS).
