  • Priscilla's Gourmet Coffee, Tea, & Gifts

Priscilla's is a Burbank classic from back in the days when it was housed in an old gas station! But, don't mistake it for a tearoom! It's a coffee house with a lovely assortment of teas available in a casual atmosphere. (and just a hop away from the wonderful Falcon Theatre run by Garry Marshall).

  • Chado Tea Room

The Pasadena Chado offers one of the most reasonably priced teas in the area. The portions are generous, in fact, the sweets are overly indulgent. Their Afternoon Tea sandwiches are generously cut and the bread is always toasted. However, the fillings can be lacking in taste and the salmon did not look at its peak. The lone scone will singe your fingers! I ordered iced Earl Grey and had to add sugar to cover the bitterness. The downside was the terrible service. Our reservation was disregarded and another party of two was seated before us. Eventually, an employee did inquire if we wanted a table! I have observed this before-- the staff never seems coordinated! The table was in a tight, uncomfortable corner. Observing how long other guests were waiting for orders to be taken and food to be served, we were immediately prepared to place our order and that seemed to help. Weekends are not pleasant. The place is uncomfortably jammed and the noise level discourages conversation, especially when there are large parties. Chado deserves to be on your tea list--just plan to go at off hours!

  • Shakespeare's Afternoon Tea

We dropped in without reservations and were graciously accommodated--much to our surprise and delight! We were dazzled by the variety, artistry, and abundance of the food. Extras were graciously boxed to take home. Tables are on the patio and we found it very cozy and relaxing. Shopping is delightful with authentic products from the British Isles. I'd describe Shakespeare's as a shop with tea rather than a fussy tea room. Men would be comfortable here but if they don't feel like sipping tea with pinkies extended send them to the nearby pub while the ladies treat themselves to one of the best teas around! (I would definitely suggest planning ahead with a reservation!)
