August Tea Room
My girlfriend and I had tea at the August Tearoom in December. We love having tea together and trying out new tearooms all over the bay area. When we arrived we were impressed with the ambiance of the August Tea Room. It was decorated beautifully and elegantly. After looking at the menu, I felt we had found a gem. It was a little pricy for a tearoom, but I though maybe if the food was good it would be worth the price. Both my girlfriend and I had the Queen Tea. We were told that we could not have Lady Lety’s Tea without advance notice when had made out reservations. The tea selection is nice but you have to stick to one flavor. Our waitress did keep refilling our tea pots with hot water but we were never given any fresh tea with the refills. Neither of us were impressed with the food. The soup was very, very bland and was not hot it was barely warm. We were never given any silverware, we had to ask for spoons for our soup and for our tea. None of the tables were set with silverware, everyone had to ask for silverware. (Strange??) The sandwiches were simple and very ordinary, very thin and very little filling. The owner came by several times and tired to take our picture. She also told us about her wonderful scones, which she said were moist and very delicious. When the desserts came, we asked her to point out the scones… They were tiny-tiny shortbread type cookies… They were very dry and didn’t have much flavor (not a scone). They were served with a dab of lemon curd and cream, but we were not even given a knife or spoon to spread it with. I feel that the owner needs to watch the quality of her service and quality of her food and not so much attention to the photography she is taking for her website. There are a lot better tearooms out there than this one.... I don’t think we will be back.

not able to add responses due to techinical problem and only able to do it
now. August Tea Room was only operating
for less than a month or so, and all business has growing pain. Please do visit us again and we would like to
complement you on your return.
