My family makes it a point to go to this tea room every time we visit the central coast. Not only is the food fantastic (best desserts of any tea room we've been to!) and the tea selection amazing, but there are excellent food selections for those who may not necessarily want the high tea (the men always appreciate this). The adorable Victorian house has the perfect ambiance for tea time, and the little tea shop in the back is always worth checking out too!

Special thanks to Cambria locals Duane & Sharon for recommending the Tea Cozy to my wife and I. What a wonderful experience. The food was the absolute best! The owner Tina made us feel right at home. It was a visit we will long remember and one that we'll talk about for many years to come. Thanks Tina!

Having Royal Tea or lunch at the Tea Cozy is a delightful experience. The food is wonderful - classic & creative sandwiches, delicious soups, an amazing Stilton burger, an exceptional grilled cheese sandwich and a luscious lemon cake are our favorites. We enjoy the ambience of the charming late 1800s house. A trip to Cambria would not be complete without a visit to the Tea Cozy.

I brought my husband here for his first time and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. We were quite hungry so we devoured everything and it was all delicious. My husband had the burger with the Stilton, Onion and Mushrooms. The burger was so juicy and filling. We had the Stilton Toast, which our friends Bill and Clare always rave about. I got the Duchess tea with the Cheddar and Chutney (love that Branston pickle). For tea we had a Black with Strawberry and Mango, slighty fruity and really delicious. This is my third time here and we both fully enjoyed ourselves. Worth the two hour drive up!

While visiting my friend in California, we made a trip up to Cambria. Being an avid tearoom lover myself, we stopped and had tea at this 'cozy' tearoom! What a WONDERFUL time we had! Everything was EXCELLENT! We ordered their Royal Tea for Two - the food was delicious and plentiful! They had a good variety of quality loose leaf tea to choose from! It was all very yummy! Both the waitress and owner were very cheerful and attentive to my friend and I. Thank you for making our tea experience so lovely and memorable! I look back at our time there with a smile and 'cozy' feeling in my heart! Thank you! I can't wait to re-turn! This tearoom is a MUST if you're visiting anywhere near Cambria!

Yesterday, Clare & I enjoyed a magnificent Tea,starting with Grilled Asparagus Soup, Stlton Toasts,Tea for Two selection of Sandwiches, scones, and assorted sesserts, accomanied by a large pot of Typhoo tea. We even ordered her lovely Coconut Cake with Raspberry Sorbet to take home. Tina (owner) provided us with a lovely ambience to share with our friends from Cambria, Duane & Sharon. We drive a 100 miles one-way for her tea, but its worth it once a month. Thanks again Tina.

Go to The Tea Cozy only IF you're looking for a wide range of teas, yummy scones with the REAL cream, (clotted cream) the ONLY kind that should ever be served at a tea house & a nice sized menu. Also the ambiance truly is cozy. I wish they were closer to Los Osos, but it is definitely worth the drive... make sure you make a reservation b4 going too!!!

My first visit to the tea cozy had much to be desired. I am so glad I gave it another shot! Our waitress, Sarah, was cheerful and a delite. As a tea room server myself, I appreciate great service. My group and I had ordered the high tea (sorry, forgot what you call it) and my grandfather ordered the sausage roll. All were delicious! I do wish that the tea had more paired up desserts than single ones of everything. You have to either split them or not get a taste. I agree and wish they didn't serve the tea loose in the pot. After your second pot, the leaves get quite bitter. This, however, didn't happen with the lovely Mango Green that we ordered. I hope the tea cozy gets a chance to redeem itself from the past reviews because it would be a shame to lose it! Thanks Again!

Beware! New owner! Tea is brewed too long and is bitter. Server has no clue. All personnel go to the kitchen and gossip about the clientele, which we can all hear. Slow, slow, slow service. They don't even know that there is a spoon to be used for tea so they use dirty food spoons. Awful. We left.

The Tea Cozy is delightful. We visited after touring Hearst Castle and were seated within five minutes without reservations. The menu offers something for everyone and the food is presented wonderfully. The variety of teas offered is impressive. We chose the blackcurrant and liked it so much that we bought some to take home. The tea room is cozy, clean, and charming. The service was friendly and efficient. It is clear that time, care, and true enthusiasm go in to the running of the Tea Cozy and we will definitely make it a spot to visit again and again.

My husband and I just visited Cambria for the first time and The Tea Cozy was definitely on my 'must see' list. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated right away. The tea rooms is cozy, a little rustic and unpretentious. We both felt really comfortable there. I had the Dutchess Tea, which consisted of a scone with cream & jamb, a tea sandwich and a bottomless pot, I chose the house blend black tea. Everything was terrific! The gents working that day were friendly and engaging and the service was great. I liked the clotted cream and the home made jamb so much that I bought a jar of each to take home. I really enjoyed my time at the Tea Cozy and wish I'd had more time to visit again during our trip. One of the things that surprised me, and that I liked best was actually something for my husband who isn't a 'tea guy'... The Tea Cozy serves a selection of English beer! It was a happy thing I tell you! While I enjoyed my tea and goodies, my hubby got to cool his heels in a mostly doily-free enviornment and have a tall cool one, double nice! We really loved our time in Cambria and hope to visit again soon, when we do you can be sure I'll be taking tea again at the Tea Cozy!

I brought my girlfriends here for a birthday celebration and to wrap up a lovely day at Hearst Castle on July 20, 2008. Tea at the Tea Cozy was a wonderful way to end our girls only weekend. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Barry and his staff were delightful and very accomodating. Due to our visit at Hearst Castle we asked to have our reservation changed and Barry was more than happy to oblige. Cambria is a sweet little town and the Tea Cozy is the jewel.

I thought the fellow who served us was very cold and rude. When I decided not to pay my customary 20% tip, he pulled me aside and asked why I was only willing to give him so little for a tip! That was the height of rudeness. I brought my niece who is a teenager and was very uncomfortable because I wanted this to be a very special and fun experience for her. It took all I had not to tell him my true feelings about his service.

We were visiting Cambria for the July 4th weekend and wanted to have tea and booked a reservation at The Tea Cozy. The reservation process went off without a hitch except that the gentleman booking the reservation tried very hard to sell me on a very early or very late tea time because he was so concerned that we might have a long wait if we booked any other time. I sort of met him halfway and booked a noon reservation. We arrived a few minutes late (after I phoned them twice to let them know)and they were crowded but we were seated immediately. The service was a little slow, but not unbearably so. The sandwiches were by far some of best tea sandwiches I've tasted. The tea selection was good; several black and green varieties, about 14 herbal and/or decaf flavors were also available. They additionally have a monthly special list of teas. They also have a small gift shop. Pricing was average, $35 for a full tea for two. $9.95 for a smaller tea. They seem to cater to a lot of regulars as 'Barry' was a little more chatty with some other tables and some guests knew each other. Service was odd, at best. We had 5 guests and we wanted five choices of tea. 'Barry' explained that they really don't want to give us that many teapots and that the table would be too crowded. The table certainly could have handled 5 pots. He was, however, accommodating regarding sandwich variety. You never tell a customer that something can't be done! Additionally, when he came to take our order, three guests got up and went to look in the store and even though we were prepared to give him our order, he was obviously irritated that all parties weren't sitting at their seats. Lastly, we had to ask for water three times. So, bottom line, if you're easy going and can handle strange service, the food is great and you might want to check this place out.

I was so excited to visit this tea room, but was so disappointed. The service was the major turn-off My wife and I were walk-ins, but they didn't appear to be very busy. There were several empty tables, but we were still asked to wait. It took about 10 minutes. When we were seated, we waited for about 5 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our waitress was new, and didn't appear to know anything about tea or the menu. The owner was not friendly at all. The food was good. The sandwiches were delicious. The scones were ok, kind of more biscuit-y than like real cream scones. The dessert was a dissappointment, as it looked and tasted store-bought. We also did not know that the tea was brewed with leaves in pot, so the last few cups were VERY strong and acidic. I didn't see any mention of this on the menu. The atmosphere was pleasant and the setting in the old house could have a lot going for this shop. All in all, it was a disappointing visit. There are other tea shops I would go to over The Tea Cozy. If you are in the San Luis Obispo area, J. Henry Manor is quite nice; and in the Solvang/Buellton/Lompoc area, Penelope's Teas & Gifts is 100% better in all aspects.

It is always a highlight of my trip to Cambria when I spend time dining and having tea at the Tea Cozy. I have been visiting the Tea Cozy for years and I am always amazed at the fine teas and goodies that are offered. The welcome you receive always makes you feel as though you were a daily visitor. The English teapots for sale are wonderful and always I am needing one for a gift.

Tea Map's BEST! TeaMap.com is a great source for finding tea rooms, especially when traveling. My wife and I totally enjoy visiting and having a special meal at different tea rooms during on travels, and THE TEA COZY should be a 10+ on this 5 star rating scale. The Tea Cozy is house in a relatively small historic and quaint original school teacher's home; thus, you really should call ahead and make reservations, otherwise be prepared to wait. On our week's stay in Cambria, a wonderful little town with wonderful folks in it, we visited The Tea Cozy 5 times out of our 7 day stay, as then The Tea Cozy was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The proprietor (Barry) and his wife are real authories on tea, its preparation and the wonderful 'tea goodies' that accompany tea!

Wanted to have tea in Cambria on a recent trip and found that this is probably the only tea parlour in Cambria. Cute cottage on a side street. Went late afternoon with no reservations and we were seated right away. Of course, it was practically empty. I assume it was the owner that waited on us and maybe he was tired after a long day but I woudn't say this was the most charming host I've had in a tea parlour. I think when we go to a tea parlour we expect more. We want to feel like we're at a tea party. Nonetheless, the food was good. The scones were warm and the tea was delicious. I will go again to this tea parlour. They have nice music playing and a little gift shop where I picked up a couple of things, including the CD they were playing by a local violinist.

Well, what a delightful escape on a busy afternoon! Learning of this tea room from this teamap site I made sure we worked it into our first visit to Cambria. We were greeted by the busy host who took time to explain the menu and make recommendations to my tea novice husband. Our tea was hot and good loose leaf. I had the Mothers blend and my husband had the house blend which he enjoyed very much. The food was fresh, delicious and some of the best I've had from many tea rooms. They serve traditional English lunches with meat and saugage rolls as well as quiches and many lovely desserts. My husband said how much he appreciated decompressing and relaxing in an atmosphere with good tea, good music, and good attentive service. I hope we can return again but will suggest to all who live closer to make a visit soon for lunch or tea. from Annette

I'm rather new to tearooms, even though I had my honeymoon in Bedford, England which is where the origins of the afternoon tea sprung from. But even as a novice, you get the sense that the Tea Cozy has got it right. The location is a converted home off the main drag of Cambria, a super quaint village along the California coast. It's a lovely house with interesting decor and well-utilized space, by which I mean it's quite cozy. There's a 'secret garden' out in the back if you want a little more elbow room and privacy. The choice of teas is extensive and the menu is fairly large and varied, mostly having a British flavor. I had a Green Earl Grey which was great and my wife absolutely loved her Jasmine Blossom. My ploughman's lunch with Stilton was delicious while my wife finished off her scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam so quickly I didn't have time to steal a bite. The host and servers were all exceptionally welcoming and attentative without being too intrusive. The Tea Cozy also has it's own parking lot, which is a blessing on a busy weekend day when the streets get packed in this little tourist town. All in all, the Tea Cozy is a must-stop spot if you live nearby, are visiting or passing through on a coastal trip up picturesque Highway 1.

This is a most wonderful tea room. Although it is well over a two-hour drive for me, it is most certainly worth the journey. The setting is absolutely charming and comfortable, the tea selection is vast, the food wonderfully delicious and the servers are attentive and quite charming (the owner is handsome, as well!). Generally, my husband doesn't like tea rooms -- he says the chinking of china and excessive gentility makes him nervous -- but even he loves this place.

The Tea Cozy is a wonderful, homey, tea experience. Barry and Lee Anne are wonderful hosts. The teas are perfectly brewed; the food and desserts are devine!
