Classic English high tea in quaint atmosphere. Sell teas and comestibles imported from the U.K.

I love, love, love this place! It is my sanctuary when I have to be in Santa Monica's hustle an bustle. This place is a legit English/Scottish tea house. It has English delicacies on their menu, as well as in their bakery and quaint grocery section. They are very reasonably priced. I love that they are simple in their presentation (not every tea time experience has to have pink roses and frills all over the place), but you are blown away by the authenticity in the preparation of their tea and food. I have traveled to Great Britain, and Tudor House always brings me back to it. A terrific, authentic, English tea experience.

I went here a few years ago with a friend and quite enjoyed the experience. Definitely an English Tea Shoppe (where one can get great work-horse tea pots and loose Twinings). The tea selection was good, but nothing special, and the quality was also good.

I just went today and brounght friends. I was not disappointed. The prices were very resonable. Food was ample and tasty. Service professional, and the surrounding shops complimented it to make a wonderful day on the town!

I went here last week with a few friends for the first time and really enjoyed myself! I got their afternoon tea with a tuna sandwich, sausage rolls, and a raisin scone and it was all fresh and delicious. They carry PG Tips which also made my day, I LOVE that tea! I also bought a few of their different pie selections to take home (all under $4 each, a great bargain) and my whole family got to enjoy them. Thanks, Tudor House!

This is one of our most favorite tea rooms besides being almost at the pier of Santa Monica, the food is always great. They are nice with children although sometimes the children could use better manners the wait staff is all so professional. Their gingerbread family cookies are most prized by Madison and Annabella, no trip would be complete without them. Bravo once again Tudor House.

We stopped by the Tudor House for tea, but discovered that it wasn't a tea house in the traditional sense. The tea is not loose leaf and the brands are those that you could buy in a store. Their menu had an extensive selection of meat and veggie pies, however the pie I ordered was far too spicy. Unfortunately, the scones were a huge disappointment. They were dry and bland. Two perks: The staff was very nice and attentive. The adjoining store offers hard to find British candy.

This is my favourite tea room in California. There is a large variety of food and teas. All the food is made right there (they have a large shop/bakery attached). Lovely scones and sandwiches served in the traditional manner. You can usually just walk in without reservations and get a warm welcome. Chris - the lovely Scottish waitress - has been there years and you will enjoy her accent.

My sister-in-law and I had tea in the main tea room in December and found it very charming. We loved the tea, the food and the very friendly service. The bakery and shop were wonderful and authentic. We decided to have a bridal shower in the private room this February for our niece. The room was spacious, the meal wonderful, the ambience very delightful and the service gracious.

My cousin, her 5 yr. old son, and I, truly enjoyed our Victoria tea today...The staff was very attentive, and very nice to Kyle, (the 5 yr. old)! The food was so delicious...that we even ordered some of the same treats from their quaint little shop! We definitely will go back and sooner than later!

The perfect English Tea Room, good food served with flair. A piece of England near a California Beach. Wonderful

When I walked in I thought Wow this is a really pretty place, I loved the little store in front and they have a wide variety of things as well as a bakery. After looking around we went to the back where there is a sign that says please wait to be seated, I waited and I waited and watched as the host and hostesses passed us by without saying anything, then finally we were seated. Then, again we were sitting for quit sometime before being asked if we were ready to order. Once our hostess came she was pleasant, lovely accent, she never offered her name. The menu is wonderful no changes allowed, which is fine. The salad was divine, the tuna was the best I ever had, and the other sandwiches were borderline. The desserts were just ok, I really expected better in the desserts. The tea selection was just ok as well. Overall the best part was the champagne.

I’ve been to numerous tea houses in the Midwest, but when my family came to visit we stopped at our first west coast varietal, the Tudor House. The food and ambiance was a little different than what I was used to, with a menu focusing more on authentic British food rather than an abundant variety of tea. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, as I found the food to be delicious (The spinach and cheese pie that I ordered was dynamite). The prices were also reasonable, with the exception of a $1.75 charge if you wanted Devonshire cream with your scone. (I was a bit surprised by this as I’ve always had cream come with my scones for free.) Unfortunately, the service at the Tudor House was incredibly lacking. My family and I waited a good 10-15 minutes before a server stopped by our table to take our drink order, which was rather frustrating, because by then we had plenty of time to look at the menu and already decided on what to eat! When you’re at a tea house it would be nice to be able to actually drink tea while you wait for your food to arrive, not order everything all at once. Also, while our server wasn’t outright rude, she made absolutely no effort to be pleasant to us. I know there were only two servers working the room while we were there, but the restaurant was hardly what I would call crowded. It’s unfortunate how bad service can kill an otherwise pleasant meal.

OK, Dany and Dame are both right. Tudor House service is very much like a mid-level restaurant rather than a high-end hotel. The tables in the tea room are not private and the decor is neither fluffy/busy nor hotel-elegant. It's quite pleasant, though, and you don't need reservations. I highly recommend their meat-pies (curry chicken, steak and kidney, etc.) and Scotch eggs (weekends only). I actually buy the pies by the dozen ($2.50 each) and freeze them.

Re: The pretentious review below this one -- go to the Peninsula Hotel if you want your 'tea poured' for you, your ladyship. It will come with the appropriate price tag ($48/person w/tip) and you'll get virtually no food. I have been going to Tudor tea room for over 30 years, and it is one of my favorites. The food is wonderful and plentiful, the tea is absolutely fine, the room is clean and homey with large windows and is attached to a lovely little shop. The service has never been a problem especially if Chris is waiting on you. I'll be there for my afternoon tea again soon.

For those that would like a variety of tea, they only had Earl Gray - caff and decaf. No flavors. Also, you need to pour your own tea. The tea pots were so full and heavy, they spilled on the table clothes. I rather like the Tea Houses that pamper you, pour your tea - the brunch was quite good, the plate was covered with a nice variety of salads. Yet, we had to request another little plate to place our sandwiches and dessert on. They wanted you to use the same dish. The service okay - but our waitress also had to help out in another section. So we lacked attention. They were suppose to play music, but they just were not paying much attention. Would I go back, probably not.

Large room with small tables. The service was friendly but not as attentive as we would have liked. The best hot food and trifle from any tea room we have been to. The finger sandwiches were good but not great. Tea is bags and the pots were small. If you want great hot food and trifle I highly recommend this one. The British shop attached has a great selection of goodies.

This was my first stop after flying into LA. They serve an excellent quiche and salad with wonderful scone completely my dinner. Tea was average since it was just form a bag, but service was friendly and very helpful. I was happy to have stopped here first after a long flight. It has an elegant feel with great window seats.

Growing up in Santa Monica I have gone to the Tudor House for many many years. It is one of my favorites in that it is very british and offers light lunch items as well as tradtional tea sandwiches so you can feel free to take your husband or father. There are no silly hats or chipped cups this place is classy not tacky! I agree with the other reviews that the desserts could use some help, they don't taste espcially fresh and they are very sweet. The store attached is like a little british market that even has a frozen section with bangers and all. I had my wedding shower in a special event room and it was fabulous!
