Fantastic place to visit and enjoy delicious food and teas. (5 folks 5 different tea selections) Started a tradition at GBPTR with granddaughter and friends, birthday celebration. Ginger and Ron are excellent hosts, atmosphere wonderful, made us all feel so welcome and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Will visit there more often! Granddaughter, who turned 8, said it was her 'best ever tea party.'

A friend and I ventured down to Prince George to the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room. We were not sure what to expect but imagine our surprise when we entered the tea room and felt as if we had gone back in time, It was such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We were welcomed as if we were friends, not customers. The tea was outstanding and the food was awesome. The friendly atmosphere with other customers was wonderful and we really felt a part of the community. IF you want a wonderful afternoon or lunch, away from the a rushed lifestyle, take a trip to Prince George VA and have tea at the Gourmet Briar Patch. You will be glad you did.And don't forget to visit the gift area. It was also a very pleasant experience.

My favorite tearoom. I can't get there often enough. The food is delicious. Our last visit we had scrumptious miniature roast beef on home made bread, pimento cheese with pecan, cucumber sandwiches, cinnamon scones, egg salad with a variety of desserts. It was wonderful. My friends will come back as often as we can.

Glad you enjoyed your tea. Happy to share:
Irish Tea Bread
2 1/2 cups of currants, or golden raisins. 1 c dark brown sugar, and 1 c of strong tea ( I use the Rongit). Soak these 3 overnight. Add until mixed 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp b soda, 3 tsp of baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 beaten egg (large). Pour into a well greased loaf pan or 4 mini pans. Bake at 350 for 30 min and check for doneness. Size of pans dictates this. Should take no more than 1 1/2 hours. If pans dark, reduce heat 25 degrees. Pots of Blessings

On the spur of the moment today, I decided to visit Ron and Ginger at the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room and to have lunch. As many times as I have enjoyed their mid-day tea lunch over the years, Ginger always seems to come up with something new, different and delicious. I am never disappointed in her food selections and culinary skills. Along with the mid-day lunch plate, I had the pumpkin spice tea which was wonderful and very appropriate for a cool fall day like today. For a sweet ending, the three layer tipsy custard cake was scrumptious! I’m already looking forward to my next lunch date when I will bring my friend from Newport News to have lunch here at the tea room.

      Tearoom response:

It was a pleasure to see you. I also enjoy the Pumpkin Spice Tea this time of year. Maybe you can join us for the Octoberfest Buffet on the 9th of October. We would love to have you. Come back soon.

Recently visited Ron & Ginger Moyer for Mid-day tea and it was like a 'Homecoming'. I'd forgotten how plentiful the portions are and how much better homemade tastes vs 'bought & presented'. The tea Ron served was splendid and the food items were culinary delights! The scones were tasty, moist...freshly baked. The Moyers are able to keep a very competitive price by making their food items from scratch. Good taste, good price and good company!

I have been to the tearoom twice in the last week. The first just because we enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness of Ginger and Ron the second time was to introduce my out of town niece to the pleasure of eating there. The cold soup and freshly made peach ice cream were out of this world and, of course, the rest of the meal was delicious. My niece had not been to a tearoom before so the experience was new and very refreshing too her. She wants to go again next visit.

Tea is a simple essential in life. The relaxing atmosphere of Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room gives good friends a place to talk and enjoy one another. It's my calm in the midst of a stormy, noisy world. The Ginger Peach tea is exquisite. My friends, Susan and Minnie like it too. The sandwich breads not only taste divine, they are cut out in delightful shapes that call attention to the care Ginger takes in preparing them. Her chicken salad is everyone's favorite. Ron is a master at pouring a cup of gourmet tea like an old friend whose neighbors have stopped by to chat. The tea room has an atmosphere that makes me feel like I'm inside of an Anne of Green Gables story. It's always a blessing to have tea with friends, chat with new acquaintances, and to spend time with Ron and Ginger who love to make tea time a joy for others.

I have visited the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room 3 times. The first two were in planning a tea party bridal shower and I was treated with all the one-on-one attention that I could have hoped for. The third time was for the party itself. Everything was prepared on time and ready for us when we arrived. The tables were set beautifully, the tea was FABULOUS! as was the homemade food! I could not have asked for a better place for such an important event. Furthermore, Ginger held a hat contest for my guests - ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations! I would definitely do it again!

I always look forward to another midday tea at the Briar Patch. Every time I go, I end up saying, 'Ginger is truly a great cook!' The food is homemade, fresh and superbly seasoned, yet every bit as creative and attractive as that of Harrod's in London. The midday courses always have an impressive variety of sweet and salty, cool and warm, colorful and artistic culinary treats. Ron greets guests warmly and serves tea with precision and good manners, sharing his knowledge of teas. The room is tranquil, cozy and filled with pleasing antique memorabilia. I highly recommend this tea room!

I wanted to bless my sister with a special teahouse experience and this was the best! This was my third visit. I attended a Red Hatters luncheon, a Women's Ministry tea and a gathering with a few friends. This was my sister's first visit and she can't wait to come back and bring others. We plan to bring our husbands for the Sunday buffet and other family members for the Mid Day Tea. It was wonderful! Quite a variety of foods and teas, a quiet and peaceful environment, lovely plate arrangement, a beautiful and light fruit salad and delicious, interesting dessert. Not one complaint all three visits and can't say enough to encourage others to taste and see for themselves. Charming and gracious couple and they really know their teas and English traditions. My sister was totally impressed. Thanks so much! God bless!

Every time I visit my Mom in VA, a trip to the Brier Patch is mandatory! In fact, I've learned to plan my stay around the days they are open. My Mom's favorite gift is a gift certificate to go there and take her friends. Guess what she's getting for her birthday! I've 'taken tea' all over the world, and this is simply the best.

Taking tea at the Briar Patch Tearoom is as much a treat for the eyes as it is for the palate. The Briar Patch Tearoom owners, Ginger and Ron, create an ambience of loveliness, serenity, and heightened anticipation of the most wonderful food creations that Ginger so delicately prepares. Having a fun-filled conversation with Ginger and Ron as I browse the 'vintage kitchen area', as well as the tearoom's boutique filled with charming and exquisite unique tea items, adds to the tea experience. Inviting table settings adorned with vintage teacups, lacy tablecloths, 3-tier trays, and flowers say to you: 'You are special and come and partake of good food, loving hospitality, and civility. Thank you Ginger and Ron for making our teatime 'the best time.'

This is absolutely the BEST tea room in VA. I attended a special 70th birthday party yesterday for my good friend (Sibbie)and was so impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and unlike some teas, you go away absolutely full of great food. Every item was organically created and the owners were so friendly and full of information about the preparation of the food. I really liked all of it, but you must have the chicken salad with almonds and cranberries in a WonTon cup -- too die for! I begged for the recipe! This is a tea shop which should be rated NO. 1 in the South, not just VA. Please do not miss this one. Ginger was the sweetest hostess. I hope she gets more cookbooks in soon, for I would like to have one of those.

      Tearoom response:

Thank you for the kind words. I love people and serving them. I am out of the cookbooks, but here is the chicken salad recipe: 6 lg boneless & skinless chicken breast baked to 165 degrees for 10 plus seconds. (Don't overbaked - dry),chopped; 2 c craisins, chopped; 2 c almonds, chopped; 8 stalks celery, chopped; and about 2 c DUKE's Mayonnaise; salt and peper to taste. I prepare using a food processor and Mix in a container that can be made airtight for storage. Slowly add the Dukes to the dry ingredients using just enough to hold together. Cover and chill overnight before serving. Use only Dukes or the flavor will not be the same. I hope this works for you. Blessings and Joy.
Please come back when you can we so enjoyed all the beautiful ladies that came. g
I have visited this tea room on several occasions and the food is delicious and well worth the price. I stopped going, because they stopped serving herbal and/or decaffeinated teas. The last time I went for tea...I drank water. One other thing I find highly inappropriate: there is only one waiter/owner. At the cash register, he always asks if I want to include a tip. Awkward, to say the least. They either need a machine that allows the customer to discreetly add a tip, or trust the customer to take care of it in another way. I wouold love to go back under different circumstances.

      Tearoom response:

I am sorry about your inability to to have an herbal tea. We deal primarily with a tea estate from India. In an attempt to keep our cost to the customer down we choose to limit our teas to those from Tea plants and/or those that are asked for on a daily basis. We do have decaf coffee. We are small and credit systems are very costly. Ours has been designed for our size and does not afford us an opportunity to process it twice like the big places do. We cannot keep our prices for a Full Tea at $10.50 (including the tax) if we do not try keep our administrative cost down. I hope this helps you understand why we are not like others. Blessings be with you and yours.

I am a frequent customer of this tea room and always enjoy the warm ambiance, excellent food and featured teas. The owners are truly lovely and add a quality of care and welcome that is a rare treasure to find. The special events are of consistent quality and most recently, I have greatly enjoyed the fellowship as we scrapbooked together, followed by a light lunch. This tea room comes with the highest recommendation and appreciation of a customer who enjoys quality and ambiance.

I am always stuffed when I leave. The prices are very reasonable. The tea room is very calm and quiet which provides a very enjoyable meal experience. If you haven't been, you need to go.

I have taken tea at the Briar Patch on several occassions, I recommend this tea room to my colleagues at work. The experience of having tea at the Briar Patch is unforgettable. Thanks Giner and Ron for making the Briar Patch a place that one feel welcome, at home.

I would like to apologize for the spelling mistakes in my previous review. I did not have on my computer glasses at that time. Ambience is mispelled as is Lady Mendl's and the Pierre hotel. I would like to say that the tea food was alway fresh at the Gourmet Briar Patch not like some tea rooms where the food has obviously been prepared and sat long before being served.

If you are into fresh, delicious, and contemporary foods this is the place for you. The combinations of flavors from the tea selections alone will keep you entranced as Ron expertly describes the origins of every last thing in the establishment. Aside from meals with my family this place is the next best thing. One bite and you will know that loads of dedication went into the making of whatever it is you have ordered. Oh, and the desserts.... Absolutely Grand. Gourmet Briar Patch & Tea room is a great place to eat and learn something new. -Alvino Valentine

What a wonderful culinary experience! The sampler plate was an amazing assortment of flavors, textures, and colors that brought excitement to the palate and interest to the eye. I’m not normally an adventurous eater; however, the food was displayed so attractively, my curiosity made me try each item. Each dish had a distinct flavor and yet complemented the next item on the plate. The chicken salad was so delicious, I brought a pound of it home to my family in Virginia Beach! I look forward to my next visit to Prince George with my sister to enjoy a leisurely lunch of delectable food!

My family took our mother to Gourmet Briar Patch for a Mother's Day lunch buffet. I must say that the experience was wonderful. Ron and Ginger were so delightful and all of the homemade food was absolutely delicious! Not to mention that Ginger even sang for everyone and all of the mothers received flowers for Mother's Day. After having a recent disappointing experience at a different tearoom, coming here was a breath of fresh air. I will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

My daughter and I had the great pleasure of dining at the Gourmet Briar Patch today, upon the recommendation of several friends. Believe me when I tell you we were not disappointed!! The atmosphere is charming and the tea room is run by a lovely couple who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Ginger even came to our table to explain the various goodies that she had prepared and put on our plate. Everything was absolutely delicious as well as being artfully displayed. At the end of our meal we visited their sweet little gift shop which contains all things tea related. We each purchased adorable tea cups to bring home as sweet reminders of our lovely visit there! We'll definitely visit this wonderful tea room on a regular basis.

I can't say enough about the tea room. I have carried my church ladies W.O.M. group out there and everybody loved it. My husband and I just look forward to going to see what Ginger the chef has come up with. Everything is always so good. The decor is so pretty and romantic to me. It's quiet and they always have wonderful music playing in the back ground. She has wonderful gifts for anyone who loves anything about tea. Oh, I can't wait til I carry my own grandaughters there to have their own tea party there. And Ron, her husband who is your waiter, he's just a jewel. Take your children or your spouse for a wonderful experience. You won't regret it. I can't wait til I get back there. The buffet is great on Sundays too. God Bless , Joyce Chavis- Mrs. FooFoo

I can't rave enough about the The Gourmet Briar Patch & Tea Room. The food is delicious and generous and the service is great. It is my favorite place to go for lunch. My husband loves it. My mother loves it. And when ever I have out of town company we go there. I would describe it as 'All American Elligence'. Anyone that is a good cook knows that the end result is determined by the quality of the ingredients that are used. This is quality food. So, treat yourself good or treat someone else good and go to the Gourmet Brier Patch and Tea Room.

I'm a big fan of the Briar Patch. Anytime I come from school, I try to make a visit. My mother had a baby shower there and said it was great. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get a summer job there.
