Wonderful afternoon tea with my Mom and sisters. Food was delicious and plentiful, we took home dessert. Ambiance is fun and inviting and we had a blast trying on the many hats available and switching often. Please not that only one tea was offered (English Breakfast) and scones and clotted cream was not part of the menu. A fabulous day and will be returning again.

      Tearoom response:

      Jenn S.,

We really love those 'Stars' and upon your return please give us a call and we will customize the menu for you. :) Thank you so much, We enjoyed being at your service.

I have been to many tea rooms; Edith Mae's is my hands-down favorite. I had been here before with my lady friends but this particular visit was with my husband, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was a bit nervous as to how he would respond to it but he loved it as much as I and is making plans to return. The tea room is small but beautifully decorated and filled with hats to try. I had great expectations for the food, and they were surpassed...absolutely fresh (right out of the oven) tiny cinnamon rolls and cranberry-orange bread with English Breakfast Tea to start, beautiful fruit cups, fresh watermelon, yummy sandwiches and three kinds of amazing dessert. Cannot wait for my next visit. OH, almost forgot to mention the lovely talk we had at the end of our time, with the owner. We learned all about the house as well as many things about Xenia and Helen Hooven Santmyer, including several sites within Xenia to visit. It made for one delightful visit!

Always Cheerful, Always Genuine and Forthright. I always leave this tea room with a smile. It is nice once in awhile to pretend you are a lady of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The tea room is very informal, but you can put on a hat or a scarf and just have fun.

I have no idea what or whom miss flower is but Edith Mae's is the most accommodating tea room in Ohio. You can get many different tea selections and the tea is always plentiful and it is also very good. The tea hostess is the most friendly and congenial person and will accommodate the menu, but somehow I think she needs notice..Just the proper thing to do. So, as a regular customer, I strongly support Edith Maes and appreciate all the fun and effort that goes into the tearoom. I like that it is a fun atmosphere.

My friend and I went here about two weeks ago and were very excited based on the reviews on the board. The location of the tea room is in a beautiful old home and the gift shop is filled with things, I could spend hours looking at and deciding that I need. We were disappointed by the lack of choices when it came to tea, and the lack of attention to our tea pot. We were also a bit saddened to see we were drinking English Breakfast tea (we peeked after feeling the tea was a bit weak and wondering why). Rather than scones, we were started off with homemade banana bread and cinamon rolls which were delish, and then moved on to soup, sandwiches and desserts. Prior to making the reservations, I notified them of a nut allergy and was told that NOTHING had nuts, however something had almond extract in it and when I questioned it again, I was asked 'just how allergic are you to almonds?' Needles to say that wasn't a good response for someone with an epipen. Although the service itself was lax, we did have a lovely time talking to the owner once the larger party left (we felt that we were largely ignored while they were there).

Edith Mae's Tea Room is one of the treasure's of Xenia - that is what so many people say. The pastries and fruit plates are divine and the service fantastic. I would highly recommend Edith Mae's for any occassion. I also use Edith Mae's when I need special cakes for events as they are so delicious and beautifully crafted by the owner. The gift shop is also worth a visit - I bought all my mother's day gifts there - you'll find the most lovely and elegant gifts from big to small.

The tea shop owner does have a variety of teas but you do have to ask..that is okay because I wanted my daughters to experience some Victorian Refinery. I had a reservation for several weeks for 12 people, but when we only had 5 people that could attend, the tea was canceled. Not good business and I cannot recommend it to anybody. A business should be in business regardless of the size of the patrons. I should have been told earlier, not the Thursday before the tea. Now I will have to search for something else for Saturday. Very poor business.

I am very impressed! In this 'Contemporary' United States it is nice to escape to a better time. I love the tea room, It combines a bit of class with a down-home feel. This is truely a very nice combination. When I think of taking tea I do think of Jane Austen and the Victorian age so this just fits. The price is actually too reasonable for the ambiance and pleasure of taking tea at this wonderful mansion. The house is full of charm and if she has time the hostess will tell you a few stories on it! Xenia has more than a Tornado story with the advent of Edith Mae's I am a fan!!!

Wow!! On variety of Teas Edith Maes is experimenting with some different types and that is a pleasant change. THe food cannot be beat and I think her prices are too low for all you get, but as she said you do not mess with a good thing. The tea room is very quaint and the variety of Victorian decor would leave any Jane Austen Fan well satisfied indeed. The house that the tea room is in is a masterpiece a work of art. I always get the best service here, and the food is so so good. For the portions you get and the price it is offered a great value. Edith is offering some wonderful soups for the winter months, but I was told she will bring back the fruit plate in the spring and summer. This is a must see, and a definite calling card for the City of Xenis!

My mom, daughter and I went to the tea room yesterday. We had a great time. The setting is amazing and the food delicious. If you wanted you could tea in style in one of the many hats that were around the rooms. We all had a delightful time. We did only have a choice of two hot teas so if you want a wider selection you might be upset. But the tea we had was very good and I wouldn't be put off by not having many choices. I recommended this tea room to two different people already and anyone who wants a great tea experience would get it if they would come here.

This tea room has some quaint attributes such as the ability to wear old fashioned hats during your tea. When entering there was a heavy smell in the house of recently fried bacon. The tea was served in a large pot that came already made from the kitchen. We discovered a half hour into the tea that they did have two other types of tea available, but one pot was large for two people. She did do a signature pastry which was excellent.

A grand place to have Tea! Although, I would not go there unless you have the time to spend. There is so much to see and do with the Victorian giftshop, and the home is huge. When, I was there the owner of the tea room was working very hard, and I applaud her for her efforts. This tea room is very manerly and etiqutte filled. Its nice once and a while to be 'proper'. Life moves so fast that I like the slower pace of this place. In fact, that is what I like most of all to not feel rushed, and to take time to have tea and conversation.

Edith Maes was so neat. After our visit to Lady Diana's Celebration at the Dayton Art Institute..We had a wonderful tea. We also learned that Eden Hall is a Bed and Breakfast. We cannot wait to book a room and stay there!!

I visited the old location in Dayton several times with a group of ladies from work. We always had such a wonderful time! We plan to visit the new Xenia location later this month. I look forward to the wonderful food and excellent service while enjoying good times with friends! (Hopefully, scones and lemon curd will be on the menu ~hint)

What a wonderful house to have a tea room!! Eden Mansion is a beautiful old home and I was transported back into the 1800`s while sipping tea and munching on sweets. A must for people who enjoy tea rooms and high tea.

Visited at the recommendation of others. It's a charming venue & a delightful experience, despite the fact I'm a coffee drinker (vs. tea). Although I'd not visited the previous location, being in the Eden Mansion only added to the unique atmosphere. To be honest, I was disappointed not to be served scones, particularly since they're advertised in their brochure. Regardless, the food is excellent & a good value, & I look forward to returning.

Edith Mae's Tea Room at Eden Hall is so unique, and is such a welcome change. I really enjoyed my chance to 'dress up' and feel like a little girl again. It was so much fun and the food is so good!!

Yesterday our Red Hat Group had the most delightful experience at this wonderful tea room. I have visited many tea rooms over the past few years and this is by far the very best! The location, atmosphere, service and the food are all A+. I went home and called a couple of friends and we are having a tea there this Wednesday, and I know I will be a regular.

We Red Hat Flutterbys had a lovely tea at Edith Mae's today - I began taking pictures before the other ladies even got there, and kept on taking pictures of the food, etc. - we will be back in June, for sure!!

This tea room is so neat, and I was so excited to find out that they are moving to a new location in Xenia Ohio. Although I will miss the old tearoom..I have been to the Eden Hall Mansion in Xenia and it is a awesome home!! and I know these folks will do it up right! I cannot wait to book another tea in the new place.

Upon arrival for our afternoon tea my sister and I were greeted by the owner. Given a brief tour through the gift shop. The owner proceeded with opening the door to a beautifully sunlight room adorned with hats of various colors decorated with feathers, flowers and boas. The food was delicious. The owner is very talented. The combination of warmed dainty sweets along with fresh fruit and unique tea sandwiches were perfect! Portions plentiful over all presentation fabulous. This is no ordinary tea room. It was a wonderful experience! You feel the owner’s passion for preserving the Victorian Era. My sister and I enjoyed everything from beginning to end. We are looking forward to our next visit. The only suggestion we have is to include disposable cameras in the gift shop. It would have been nice to have pictures to go along with the memories.

The tea room does use real whipped cream especially in the pecan lace cookies which are a specialty of the house, and available by request. The tea room is fantastic, and I like the privacy of the place.

The ambiance in this tearoom is excellent. A great place for grown-ups to have another chance to play 'dress-up'. The historic home is absolutely fantastic and the gift shop has a great selection of Victorian themed items and antiques. The presentation of the meal is excellent, with beautiful antique china and flatware. However, there is too much emphasis on sweets, not enough on the savory. An investment in real whipped cream instead of cool whip would also be a welcome change.
