They were delightful, once. But moved from this address several years ago and closed completely 2 years ago.

3 Cups is a coffee house style tea room. Everything is done with quality and excellence. There is a fine selection of teas, coffee, beer and wine. The ambiance is casual, quiet and serene. If you are looking for a traditional English style tea room, this is not the place.

With all of the available teas easily viewable on their website, one finds the focus of 3 Cups to be on a few select high quality teas, coffee, and lots of wine. Everything is served in such a way that one can duplicate much of the experience at home, with the same type of tea pots used in the shop also being up for sale. The service is incredibly friendly and prompt, and prices are reasonable. I simply wish they were open more (8 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday).

3CUPS is a modern, relaxed atmosphere for enjoying tea by yourself or with others. They have a good selection of teas, including white, green, oolong, black, and herbal. All teas are quality loose leaf teas prepared in 16 oz. or 32 oz. Chatsford pots. The food is fresh and tasty, but with limited selection. As its name implies, 3CUPS serves wine and coffee in addition to tea.

The best place in the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill area to enjoy a great cup of tea and purchase supplies. They carry top grade loose tea from small tea estates and Chatsford tea pots. The folks at 3Cups know tea and how to prepare it to perfection!

3 Cups has an eclectic casual atmosphere. The helpful staff introduced me to their tea and coffee varieties. Unlike many combination coffee and teashops that tend to be overwhelmingly coffee oriented, 3 Cups’ menu and service makes taking tea at their establishment enjoyable. Whole leaf tea is served by the pot and is priced very reasonably. Fresh baked goods are available from a local bakery. I tried the chocolate croissant, which was one of the best I’ve tasted, not over sweet. The tea selection is excellent for tea lovers. Fans of herbal teas may not find as many options, but the few offerings for tisanes are high quality. There was no wireless internet access at the time of my visit, but the warm loft-like décor included ample outlets for laptops. Several tables were occupied by chatting couples and groups as single writers and readers relaxed in the corners. Outside seating is available. I would recommend this spot for writers, readers, students, business chats and dates both friendly and romantic.
