This place had no charm. The food was lacking and skimpy. Even the service was lacking. I would not recommend or revisit this tea house.

I took my granddaughter there in July. I was shocked. This is a cafe that has tea offerings. Nothing about this says High Tea! Great for lunch, but don't go expecting a traditional Southern Tea Room.

I took my mom here for her 88th birthday and I was pleasantly surprised! I eat mainly plant-based and I really expected to go hungry but the lunch selections were outstanding! I had a bowl with quinoa soybeans, and veggies in a beautiful curry sauce. the teas were extensive and there were many that were herbal. I really liked the combinations of teas they offered that increased energy and happiness! I will definitely come back!

Huge selection of teas. Very badly run. There were 5 gals and we rarely saw them. I finally had to get up and search out someone to fill my pot of tea. Not one memorable item of food. Way overpriced for what you got. Won't be back.

I went there for my birthday, and I couldn't have been more disappointed. I paid $22.00 for my 3 tier server. It was one slice of bread, with just a quick spread of chicken salad, pimento, the other spread I couldn't identify, and one quarter of the slice of bread were 2 slice of cucumber. It was so noisy that we could not hold a conversation. No tablecloth but burlap dirty placements, also paper napkins were used. I can't believe that this place is called a tea house. It was horrible...I think this should be called a truck stop rather than a tea room.

I have been to several tea houses/tea rooms and this one is by far my favorite. The tea selection is awesome and I love that I can drink several different teas for one price (I think it's about $5 for unlimited pots of tea). I also like that if I order a tea I don't particularly like, I just tell them and they just bring me a different tea. In addition to the amazing tea selection they have, the food they serve is delicious! I love that they serve lots of organic and food (that somehow all looks so beautiful on the plate), and offer a lot of vegan and gluten-free options. I've tried most of their menu and loved everything I've eaten. The customer service is excellent and everyone who works there really 'caters' to their customers. I go to the tea house often. I've had a baby shower there and will be having my 40th birthday party there as well. It's a great spot for lunch, as well as special occasions. I highly recommend it!

I came in to shop for tea, not to sit and have tea. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the tea selection was great, and the gift shop area had some interesting offerings. I cannot thank the staff enough for their patience with me!

My daughters took me here for my birthday lunch. None of us had ever been here before but I pass by here on the way to work everyday and suggested we try it. We were all delighted from the time we walked in. The food was amazing and the server we had was just a delight. We will certainly be going back again. I really want to go for High Tea.

Drove to Roswell for Afternoon Tea at the appointed time, was seated quickly and service was good. Teahouse was simplier in decoration than I anticipated given the era of the venue, almost stark fresh rather than cosy. The tea experience was ok for a local teahouse; did not feel relaxing though - almost as if it was just another meal rather than an afternoon relaxing tea experience. The sandwiches were tasty but minimal. The desserts were good. The scones though I had an issue with, they were more like small muffins with less sugar rather than true scones. The 'scones' were served with only lemon curd. When asked if strawberry jam was available the answer was 'no, we don't have that, just the lemon curd'. Who, serves afternoon tea, without real scones, strawberry jam & lemon curd with clotted devonshire cream? I have never been to a teahouse, here in the States or in the UK and not been served real scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. I should have read the website menu just a little better. Overpriced for what we got. I will not go back.

I love the teahouse!! I have to eat carefully due to food allergies, and the options at this place suit me perfectly. The peppermint tea is a favorite of mine, and I just tried the carrot cake...YUM!! I wish they were open longer, because I'd be over there much, MUCH more often!!!

We had a 'High Tea' Birthday luncheon at the teahouse and it was very nice. They let us stay and talk after we were finished, the tea and food was delicious and it was great that we could try as many teas as we'd like. However, it seemed rediculous to have to pay an extra $1 for a 'premium' tea which most were, after paying $24 for High Tea. Also, ALL oolongs were premium!? That is what I drink every day. My friend also had a chipped plate, which should have been tossed. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I think there's room for a few changes especially for High Tea.

      Tearoom response:

Hi, thanks for having your birthday party with us at the Rowell Teahouse. The reason why we charge $1 more for premium teas is simply because these are rare very expensive loose leaf teas that we use to steep in cast iron teapots one by one. We also clearly have it on all our menu's, we did not charge you for something that is not listed on our menu. But I really want to thank you for still a very nice review and it was our pleasure to serve you.
Thank you, Carine (owner) and Staff

Reading previous reviews you would think this is a horrible place, but in fact, I have been going to this tearoom for afternoon tea the last 5 years with my husband at least 5-6 times a year. We have NEVER had a bad experience. I actually also don't like too much sweets on the tray and have requested in the beginning to add more savory. By now they already know and when I make my reservation they already make a note of it. If the restaurant doesn't know your dislikes they can not do anything about it. One thing though..... I have never left hungry, we get a three tier tray and every tier is packed with food, my husband is what you call a 'large' eater and he isn't hungry when we leave. What the parking situation is about I don't know, this is a small property (cottage) with a farely small parking lot, but they do have the required handicap parking. There is a sign for more parking at the church across the street and we always park overthere without any problems. Anyway, after being a customer for several years, and have spoken to the owner numerous times, she is the most accomodating restaurant owner I have ever encountered. I would say if you have any problems or concerns, just let the owner know at the time of your visit and she will do anything to make it right. About another previous review, the tearoom being closed, they always close around christmas and New years, but it's always posted on their website. This is a family business, they also need to take time off once a year. Where are people's common sense sometimes??? ..Or is it just selfishness... Where is this society going???

I am handicapped so I called ahead to inquire about access. I was told that there were handicapped spaces. There were, but too far away for me. Also, walking on gravel presented a problem. The worst of it, however, was the uphill parking place to the side of the building was so packed that once there, because there were no more spaces, I had to make a parking space for myself because I couldn't get out. The afternoon tea food was good, what there was of it. And for the cost, really, I felt cheated. It just cost too much to leave feeling hungry. This occasion was a birthday celebration, but I did not feel in a celebratory mood when I left. Then, I had the delightful pleasure of getting out of an impossible parking place. Handicapped people beware. I checked 'lacking' for the quality of the food because there should have been more. Also, the sweet outnumbered the savory. More savory selections would have been nice.

I had been here once a few years back for tea and remember enjoying the place. I had bought a Groupon that I was using to share with two of my friends. We all drove all they way out to Roswell (not close for any of us), only to find the place was closed. Actually ran into others in the parking lot who were equally disappointed. I had been on the website prior to going out there to check out the menu and get directions, and there were a lot of announcements on the front page, but nothing stating that they were going to close for week. Really! that should have been the first thing on the front page when you just decide to close for a week! So time get's away from you and I just couldn't get back out there, it is just not conveninet to get to. So my dear husband agreed to go out and pick up a few lunches and bring them back. We both had the shrimp and pineapple wrap on day one and I saved the Engergy Booster salad for the next day. What a disappointment both meals were and I was so surprised. The wrap was so oily, I had a huge pool of oil in the bottom of the container. I had only one piece of pineapple in my sandwich, my husband got none. But the oily mess was most unappetizing, I was squeezing the sandwich to drain out the oil. I was really looking forward to the salad that promised fruit and veggies with omega 3's! The picture is beautiful on the website, loaded with fresh black berries, sliced strawberries, tomatoes, bell peppers and a wedge of cantaloupe. I had chosen Shrimp as my protein, and again, just covered in oil. I picked them out and had to wipe them all down. We are in blackberry season, but not a one was on my salad, the only fresh fruit on the salad was one whole lonely strawberry. No nuts for those omega 3's, no fruit wedge. Oh wait, there were a few grapes floating around along with some tomatoes and chopped bell peppers. At least the salad greens were fresh. Reading some other reviews, it seems as if the quality has gone down and at least the food has since my last visit. What a shame.

My first impression was nice place, until I was charged, graduity incl. for one person who could not join our party(8). we didn't call ahead, so I was charged. $60 is to much for Tea and a lacking tier.

      Tearoom response:

I am so sorry, I have to add a correction. For high or light afternoon tea we require a reservation because we make just sandwiches and desserts, scones etc for all the reservations on that day. If customers don't let us know that the resrvation total has changed,we do serve what was ordered. The tray for the 8th person was on the table as I explained on that day. Also all the left overs from that tray were given to you to take home.So you did not pay for something you didn't get. I am so sorry for the misunderstanding.
Carine B. (owner/chef)

I've visited this teahouse before with my newspaper friend who wrote an article/ review about a year or so ago. My experience back then was satisfying - for an afternoon lunch on a weekday. However, I went back a few days ago over the weekend and the service was lacking. I shop at the farmer's market and other shops reon Buford Hwy, and I can find tea of equivalent quality and flavors. If needed, I make special requests from friends abroad to bring some tea from the off-beaten path. But that's not the point. The point is to experience tea in a cozy little place with my date - especially if we both drove 45 minutes from downtown to get to Roswell. I can understand them being busy and not receive service right after being seated. Or that we weren't a 'high priority' since me and my date weren't ordering a lot there (we already ate elsewhere in downtown Roswell for lunch). But to 1) forget our teas, and 2) not receive my dessert cake until the tea was almost gone is a serious lapse in service. Eating cake with a tea that has cooled to room temperature is insulting. Even though there were 'free refills' on the tea, I was annoyed enough with the lack of service and left without finishing my pot. In the end, that wasn't a place for us anyways, and maybe even you if you're younger than 65. This is definitely not a place to bring a date or a place to hang out after lunch. If you' a tea purist, there are better and exciting finds on Buford Hwy Asian grocery shops. The lack of service makes Starbucks seems stellar. Maybe they were having a bad day, but in business, you never have a bad day in front of a customer.

      Tearoom response:

Hi, I am so sorry about the service, I will certainly take it up with my staff. I do have to add that we were completely at full capacity on Saturday and when that happens we kindly have to ask for your patience at certain times. However, if your tea was getting cold you can always ask for a hot refill at any time, as you know we give unlimited refills and unlimited flavors, so you can take your time and do your own tea tasting from our wide selection of 100 teas.
I certainly do not seek to compete with buford highway, since we are a very diffrent type of business, our teas are carefully selected from several direct importers and carry one of the largest tea menu in the Atlanta area.
The comparison with Starbucks....their business model is to serve as many cups of coffee at a high speed rate (the fast-food version for coffee and tea). We absolutely have a complete different business philosophy and are part of the 'slow-food' movement. To eat dessert and drink a cup of tea, one should NOT be paced by time.
Anyway, I sincerely hope you give us another chance, I know you will not regret!
carine (owner/chef)

My daughters and I went to The Roswell Tea House on 11/20/2010 after purchasing coupons from livingsocial. We had reservations for high tea that were made several days earlier and I did notify the person who took the reservation that we had coupons. Upon handing the three coupons for $25.00 each that specificaly say 'Limit one per person per visit' the owner informed us that was a mistake and we could only use one coupon per table.... I did read the fine print on the coupon prior to purchase just so something like this wouldn't happen. I was most disappointed the owner did not honor the coupons and then proceeded to tell me that I did not own a business therefore could not understand how one was run (how would she know?). The tea selection was very good and the food was not worth the money. We were served honey in plastic sticky bottles not in glass as they claim and the servers while attentive did get our order and another tables order wrong. I would not recommend any business that treats customers in such a manner. Yes this was the Roswell Tea House as I am looking at the two unuseable coupons with their name on it.

A friend of mine recommended that we go since she had a groupon and a reservation and she had been wanting to try the High Tea at the Tea House. I have two small children (my youngest is 16 months) and a gluten allergy so I was not sure this was going to be anything wonderful. I was EXTREMELY DELIGHTED!!! Not only did they offer delicious gluten free options they were so gracious about my children and accommodated them with hot chocolate and kid friendly food options. They have a large selection of delicious teas which my son even tried and enjoyed. I loved the Tea House and can't wait to bring family and friends back!!!

I had a groupon too, but I used mine early as I figured everybody and their grandmother would want to do something like a afternoon tea during the holiday season. My mother loved and so did I. I loved it so much I'll be going back for my birthday in January if they have room. If not I'll just wait until they do. Awesome tea and food. They are not rude. I was late for my reservation and they held it for me!! I think the service is Top Notch.

My friends and I never got to experience this teahouse. We were discriminated against because we had a Groupon and were not 'regular customers'. The owner told me that there were no Saturday reservations left for Groupon customers. They were not making any money off of us, so only room for 'regular customers'. The owner was rude, uncaring and unsymphatheic. She basically told me it was my problem that I would lose my money because my party could not come during the week. The owner also advised I should not have waited until the last minute(there is a month before coupon expires). Luckily, Groupon has business etiquette and refunded my money. Because of how I was treated by the owner, I would not set foot in this establishment if they paid me,

      Tearoom response:

Dear Tracey, as the owner I have to respond to this review. First of all let's set the facts straight: Many people do not know what a 'groupon' is, so let me explain. Groupon.com is a website that runs 'a deal of the day' every day and so we ran a deal with them on May 25,2010 where people can buy a $10 gift certificate to use for a $24 High Afternoon tea service.
So... I never told you I do not make money of groupon customers, those were your words! Groupon customers are just as valued then any other, because they are mostly NEW customers and we want to impress them so they would return to our business, that is the whole point of Groupon certificates. We did in fact sell 2.225 of these certificates and many people have been waiting to make reservations till the last month when the certificate expires. We can only seat 49 people and so we are booked every saturday till the end of November, BECAUSE we also have 'non-groupon' customers that have booked a reservation for tea and lunches AND also we have booked several baby showers and bridal showers. We have plenty of reservations left during the week and would love to accomodate you on any of those days. After I tried to explain this to you on the phone, you attacked me with a bunch accusations of being discriminative, rude etc. It was a very unpleasant response that I have never experienced from a person trying to book a reservation... ever... in the five years I have been open for business. We have many many very satisfied customers and who knows me, knows that I am the furthest from being a rude person, I'll do anything to accomodate customers, but when I can not seat you, because we simply are full, I do not double book reservations, so customers don't feel rushed when they are having afternoon tea. I hope sincerely you can understand my point of view.
C. Bourgeois (chef/owner)

This is my favorite teahouse, the tea selection is amazing, love their food, especially that they use organic ingredients. After reading the previous review by 'Safiya', I wonder if this was written by somebody in the same industry, because I always drink my tea with honey and the roswell teahouse always serves me a local honey served in a glass bottle, which they also sell. As a matter of fact I have bought that same honey there and is fantastic because it's local, it helps with allergies. I have NEVER received honey from a packet at this teahouse.

My girlfriends and I visited the Roswell Teahouse because our favorite tearoom aka, 'Vintage Tea' had recently closed. I called ahead and made a reservation for three for afternoon tea. When I arrived the lady at the front asked me three times if I had a made a reservation for afternoon tea. After I had been seated I was again asked if I had made a reservation for afternoon tea. It seems there must have been some communication issues. My girlfriends arrived and we began our afternoon tea. The food was okay. The pastry selection was okay. There was no food item that stood out as outstanding. The decor was simple yet cozy. The tea selection was very good. We were content with the attentive service and the food/tea selection until we discovered that we had no honey for our tea. We asked our server for honey and we were presented with (smuckers) to-go honey packets that you get when you visit IHOP and you get your pancake breakfast to go. Needless to say we accepted the honey packets in shock. All the tearooms that I have been always served their honey, milk, sugar, clotted cream, lemon curd in actual glass/china containers etc. The honey packets showed a definite lack of attention to details. Overall, the Roswell Tearoom provided us with a pleasant experience but closer attention should be paid to the small details. My girlfriends and I intend to return soon to see if the small details have been upgraded. Overall, a good experience.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear Safiya,
it seems very odd to hear about the honey, because we serve our honey in glass bottles for the last 3 years, which we also sell in the front(local honey by the Bee Factory in Marietta).
Carine B.(chef/owner)
Had a bridal shower at this teahouse a few weeks ago,the service, food and the whole experience was excellent. Many of my guests had never experienced 'high afternoon tea' and the owner and her staff were so nice to explain everything and were very knowledgeable. The tea selection was amazing, they helped us pick out the right teas for our party. We had all the time in the world to unpack the bridal gifts, we never felt rushed and they kept on checking with us, to see if we needed anything. It is certainly not your average type restaurant experience, but more a family run type of business. Highly reccommend this hidden gem.

      

Many Tearooms are labors of love created by Entrepreneurs with a passion for all things tea! However, people seem to forget that Tearooms are actually fully functioning Specialty Restaurants. Reservations are a necessity. If you are late, that is your fault. If you don't tell them the true number in your party, how can they make the correct individual amount of food? Have you ever stopped to consider that a typical tea tray consists of approximately 10-15 different petite sized food items per person? Or that it costs more to produce tea trays, then a regular luncheon menu, and that if you expect white glove service, that it will cost for this 'extra' service? Please remember that most Tearooms are small businesses, and the profit margin is only about 20%. Tearooms are unique and should offer a 'different' experience than a normal restaurant, but please stop to consider whether your expectations may be unreasonable. Some women want to arrive unannounced, take up a table for 3 hours sipping on a $4 bottomless pot of tea while writing Xmas cards. If it were your business, would it be professionally wise to allow those types of customers to make a 2-4 person service table into their personal kitchen table? Also, could you do so without raising your prices and/or putting yourself out of business? Try to think from the Owner's perspective; then, maybe you won't be so disappointed or unreasonably expectant of Tearooms and their offerings. Please don't allow romantic idealism to become the ruin of our top GA Tearooms. Thank you for your appreciated support!

The quality service was not something to go without noted, either: I'd arrived there to wait for a friend and waited over half an hour for them only to find that I would dine alone. The waiting set me back to having to eat and enjoy my tea about half an hour after closing time, and the staff was nothing but 'Genuinely hospitable'' which is more rare today than the average service! They were wonderful to work with me on a payment issue and ever so patient and knowledgeable of their products! I've got a few friends in mind that I hope to bring back to this establishment very soon. It's worth the half hour drive to me!

Carine, the owner is a lovely and talented person whose food I have loved for several years. She takes great pride in her selection of food items to prepare each item with the freshest ingredients. She and her staff helped me set up the tables with my accessories and the room looked beautiful! Eleven guests filled the private room for my daughter's Bridal Luncheon. Everyone had a wonderful time tasting different teas and enjoying finger sandwiches and assorted delicious desserts. I found Carine very accomodating and wonderful to work with for this special day for my daughter.

I made reservations for light afternoon tea for myself and a girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon just a couple of days ago. Service originally was prompt and polite and the food and tea was wonderful. However, when we paid the bill (40 dollars!) and the waitress brought back our change she pointedly (and snottily) showed us the total on the check and informed us that 'your tip was not included.' Lacking a polite way to inform her that I've had more polite service from McDonald's, I just nodded my head and left what change was left on the table. Like I was really going to tip after that. Then before my friend and I were even out the door, she looks at the money on the table and says to another waitress 'Is that all they left?' The food and tea were good, but part of the reason you go to a tea house is to feel pampered and I walked out the door feeling angry and insulted. If I want to have tea again, there are other places here to do so.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear Tabitha,
I am so sorry you had a bad experience at the end of your visit to our teahouse. As the owner I will look into it what happened, but from what I understand is that some customers think that gratuity is included in our tea service and she just wanted to let you know it is not. It might have come over the wrong way, which I can totally understand.
Since you said the food and tea were wonderful, which is the MOST important I would think, I hope you give us another chance, so we can make up for the whole tea experience.
Thanks for your input,
Carine Bourgeois (Owner/Chef)

I meant to write this review right after my girlfriend and I visited. We were there 2 months ago and will not ever return. There are several reasons why...I had tea and scones that were fine - not something worth driving out of the area for. My girlfriend, who is not picky or difficult in any way had serioius problems with the food. First, she ordered a wrap that had an option for chicken or salmon - she forgot to mention which choice and the waitress didn't ask either. It came out with chicken, which she doesn't eat at all. She apologized to the waitress and asked for salmon. It came out with salmon that was not cooked through - she didn't feel she could eat undercooked salmon and sweetly asked for it to be cooked more. 3rd time out, she bit into the wrap for her first bite and I saw her biting into a long hair (cooked in, not hers). Although this could happen anywhere the situation was handled horribly. The waitress was polite but another worker meandered over (I thought she was the mangager, coming to apologize) and commented my friend seemed to be out of luck that day!!!Seriously, is it lucky to get cooked food w/out hair in it? I thought my friend should speak up but she didn't want to, so I asked for the manager when I went to pay. I told her how unprofessional the comment was, after the disaster with the food and she just said that it hasn't happened before. No real effort to rectify the problem in any way that would bring customers back. We traveled quite far for this kind of lousy service. Also, this is an urban tea shop, not a traditional tea room, if that is what you are looking for.

We enjoyed our Afternoon Tea at The Roswell Teahouse very much. The food, made from scratch, was excellent [although the soup was made from English peas, even though we had been told that they were split peas]. The selection of teas is outstanding, and the Tea came with a 'bottomless pot', hurrah. The atmosphere is serene, almost zen-like. The decoration is simple.

I visted the tea room on 04/18 for a baby shower. At first I was taken by surprise with the lack of parking, but quickly realized they had ample parking on the street and with the local church. When I walked in, I entered the room that we would be in, and it was a little smaller than anticipated. We had a group of 11 join for the shower, but once everyone was there, the room size was fine. The staff helped with the set-up and accomodated my needs, which I wasn't expecting, and was such a great surprise. I was able to decorate to my tastes, and they accomodated my silver ware and place setting choices. The tea was prepped and was really nice (I ended up buying several different types-the house blend chai is awesome). The food was good, and filling. I found it different than other traditional tea rooms, and the staff explained they were more modern. All of my guests enjoyed themselves greatly. And the shower went off without a hitch. I was a little hestitant at first, but everything turned out lovely!!! We will definitely visit again in the future.

My visit to the Roswell Teahouse was absolutely awful. My friend and I waited for about thirty minutes for our waitress to take our order, it was also another hour before we even got our food. When it was time to get our bill, we paid and gave it to her and then waited for another thirty minutes for our change. Since no one ever gave it to us, I went to find our waitress and she was outside talking on her cellphone. I had to get someone from the kitchen to get our change. Might I add that we were the only customers in the building, so it wasn't busy enough to even get this kind of service. Not only was the service the worst I have ever gotten in my life, the food made me sick as well.

Let me start with the good. The tea selection was excellent and the tea was wonderful. The service was also very good and the lemon curd was also good. The bad! The Food, I thought the food was lacking. $22.00 for full tea and I left hungry. The food did not have any taste. The 'scones' were muffins NOT scones. If it was not for the lemon curd, I would have not eaten the “muffins”. They had no taste and I am not even sure what type of ‘Scones” they were. Said they were Cranberry but looked like Dill to me. I will not be returning. I do not recommend if you are looking for the “Traditional Tea House”, it is very modern. But the tea was Excellent!!

I did not order tea, but some of the black tea offerings were tempting: specifically black currant and blackberry sounded good. I ordered the 'beauty' salad, which comes with mixed greens, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi slices, and your choice of chicken or salmon. I chose the salmon. I was nervous when the salad first arrived as it was slightly fishy smelling, but the fish tasted great so it may have been the dill I was smelling. The salad comes with two dressing options: I elected the ginger dressing. I was expecting a vinegar based dressing similar to what you get a japanese steakhouses, but their dressing is a creamy dressing. The ginger taste is not too strong, and the dressing is a good addition to the salad. The dressing must be a popular item because they offer jars of it for sale on the menu. I will definitely return to The Roswell Tea House when I have more time to enjoy myself and when I'm not flying solo.

I'll start with the negative: My experience was similar to the reviewer below. Perhaps your staff was dealing with illness for a couple weeks? For my sister's birthday in early October we visited the Roswell Teahouse because of the high reviews I had found online. We went on a Saturday afternoon and had called ahead earlier in the week with reservations for their light afternoon tea. The service was the only aspect that negatively surprised me. Upon arriving we waited for a while in the foyer for the an employee to greet us. Then we were taken to our table where we again waited for a good 20-30 minutes before our waitress returned to ask for our tea orders. We did receive our tea rather quickly but waited another half hour for our food- which surprised me in that we had made reservations and were on time so I expected it to be prepared. It also took a while to pay and since we were in a rush to make another appointment this was slightly agitating. I understand in customer service that times can be stressful but the staff did not seem particularly friendly or apologetic for the amount of time we waited. Positive; The atmosphere is quite delightful. It appears they have done a lot of work to create an enjoyable space for its patrons. As avid tea connoisseurs we enjoyed the diverse selection and relative freshness of the teas. They were also served in individual cast iron pots. The food for the high tea was fabulous. We both agreed that the lemon curd was incredible! We would go again but only if we had the leisure of waiting.

There was a wonderful selection of tea, lovely and fragrant (sencha kyoto cherry rose, lemon ginger, and sgt pepper rooibos). The food (scones, lemon curd, pastries, mini sandwiches) was also quite lovely. It was a great setting to catch up with a friend. The only downside was that the service was inattentive. It took a long time to get service initially, a while to get another pot of tea, and then another while to get the check.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear Jessica,
I am sorry the service today was not up our normal standards. Due to shortage of staff(illness)today, we had a few moments that we were backed up. This place is WONDERFUL! I try to bring out-of-town friends for a nice treat. I've never been disappointed with the teas (great selection of whole leaf teas and tisanes - excellently prepared and free refills when buying by the pot), food (always fresh and unique seasonal offerings) or service even after 5 visits over the past year. The owner and staff are always gracious and quite welcoming. My 6 year old niece enjoyed herself so much she asked if we could return the next day (perhaps this was from her absolute delight with the Belgian Waffle dessert). My aunt felt it was definitely worth the trip from Fairburn. INMHO, the Roswell TeaHouse never disappoints. Carine is always adding to the tea offerings and menu. Excellence in teas and food, great service and reasonable prices...who could ask for more!

Nice little Teahouse; they have a reasonable variety of loose-leaf teas and tisanes available, as well as a modest chawan selection for purchase (all rather ornate and colorful). I was a bit bemused by the incongruity of a Japanese-style tea station in the outer area of the Teahouse - it seemed at odds with the Western European presentation of the rest of the establishment. The finger-food was delicious and I'd love to have the recipe for their black bean soup. Service was a little slow and our waitress had an unfortunately superior manner better suited to an upscale city restaurant than a tiny Teahouse in Roswell, but the owner was gracious and attentive. In all, I would give the Roswell Teahouse 4 out of 5; their delicious choux pastries make a visit more than worthwhile.

We asked 4 times for water before it ever arrived l,ong after the eta and food. With reservations for high tea, we anticipated sampling a variety of cupfuls of tea. We each got a teapot full of one order. The sound factor of so many people talking in close quarters was so overwhelming that 3 of the 6 at our table could only hear noise. SWince we came from Stone Mountain, Marietta, Gainesville and Cornelia we had looked forward to covnersing together. Conversation was impossible because of the acustics.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear Marilyn,
I am sorry for the poor service, as I said in my former response, we have new summer staff and are still training.
As I heard it got very very busy in a short time and myself (Carine, Owner) was absent due to a family circumstance. If it gets very busy, one room gets very noisy, you certainly could have asked to move to another room that was less noisy, that should not have been a problem. I hope you give us another chance, I will personally make sure you will not regret it!!

We were looking forward to our visit, reservations for a party of 6 (high tea) Atmosphere was great! The food that required more effort was flawless and very tasty, the mini eclaires were *fabulous* (I will come back for those), lemon curd was perfect. Tea was excellent, so many kinds! Everyone was very agreeable to their selections, but would have liked a refill on their pot. I had the Assam which was excellent. Great descriptions of the tea on the menu. The Cinnamon Sibu was highly complimented by all. The Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose smelled heavenly. Service attention was lacking by staff and our tea refilling wasn't offered or questioned until we were leaving. I didn't even know they offered unlimited flavor choices with the reserved tea service! We were actually told we could change our choice if we did not like what was brought to us but that was all (by our server) Water was given 40 minutes after our arrival and was sadly asked for many times. Carine was very thoughtful and brought water refills, something her staff should have thought to do. I wish more attention had been paid to our drinks (we aren't complainers, but empty cups speak for themselves) Was a little disappointed in quantity of food for each person. Scones were a teensy bit over done on the bottom but plentiful. Fresh fruit for the high tea consisted of one piece of cantaloupe and a strawberry per person. The strawberries had seen better days, and looked like thawed-day-before berries. I think we would have liked to try the tasty looking meals, salads, and desserts singularly instead of with the high tea option upon table comparison and inspection. Maybe next trip! Will try again. The great tea they offer would be complimented by more attentive servers.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear April,
I am so sorry for the poor service, I have new summer staff and are still training. But thanks anyway for bringing it to my attention.
What concerns the 'strawberries', we NEVER EVER use frozen fruit and if the berries seemed to ripe, please let us know so we can replace immediately. I will accommodate anything a customer requests, no matter what it is, but we need to be aware of the situation.
I truly thank you for your review and I hope you come back to try more of our delicious foods, you will not regret!!

My husband and I had a fantastic tea yesterday. Everything was amazing. Carine made suggestions for teas and the food was perfection. this is one of the best teas I have ever had. Your scones are superb. Thank you.

      Tearoom response:

Amy, I truly apologize for the bad experience at our teahouse. I do want to explain why we have a limited menu. Because we don't do microwave, canned or frozen foods, we want to keep our standards of fresh ingredients high, which we can only accomplish with a small menu. The reason we don't have scones without reservations, because I bake the scones an hour before the reservation time to make sure the customer has a taste of a properly done scone. The person who you thought was a hostess, is actually our tea brewer who had to brew tea in indivudual pots for 20 people, so she was extremely busy and not hiding in the kitchen. The people you thought were her friends, were customers who made reservations for high tea and she was assigned to take care of that table, she could have also socialized a bit with the other three tables taken, and I apologize for that didn't happen. I am a Belgian chef, and in Belgium we serve our quiche at room temperature and not warm. I am happy you pointed this out, so I can next time serve this american style (warm).
I sincerely hope you give us another chance, I will make sure you will not regret it,
regards,
Carine Bourgeois (Chef and Owner)

We had the orange-mango iced tea & it was very flavorful. The chef/owner, Carine, kindly visited our table to answer our questions about how to make the lentil salad. She was happy to share and we enjoyed talking with her so much. Our server was great - always there when we needed her - but afforded us privacy to visit. We didn't indulge in the specialty strudel - but have heard from others that it is well worth the calories! We have decided that we want to learn more about the brewing, tastes & medicinal value of teas - so plan to participate in one of the tea seminars given @ the teahouse. Also, as a birthday gift from them, we received a 2 oz. pkg of the fresh tea of our choice. Thank you Carine.....we WILL be back! Lynda & Barb Marietta, GA

This was my 5th visit and I've never been dissappointed. The decor, service, tea selections and food are all first rate. I can't wait to try their high tea served afternoons between 2-4 and they've just added Sat.breakfast also.

I am writing in praise of The Roswell Teahouse. I stumbled on it by accident (It’s a little off the usual Historic Roswell path, a couple of blocks down Magnolia street, below Mimosa). Tea, atmosphere, tea, good food, tea, health, tea, culture, ‘Ritzy’ high tea, and tea! I’ve never seen such a selection of teas and documentation enough to educate even a tea-connoisseur. The aim of the teas listed is health, purification, and longevity, taste, as well as the “culture” of tea. You can also reserve a “High Tea” experience a la The Ritz Hotel (I’ve heard at the Ritz, the sandwiches are pre-made while at The Roswell, the scones are fresh & still warm). The other food has the same focus on health as well as flavor, with some Belgian influence from the owner (try the vole au vent!). The music & atmosphere is lovely & soothing, enhanced by work that decorates the place from regional & international artists & craftspeople. I’m told that the art changes monthly. This is a great escape from shopping hub-hub or work stress: a spa for the mind & palette.

I had a lovely time with my boss and his wife. I am glad that I found your teahouse. I really enjoyed your finger foods and tea. The Hungarian cherry soup was very delicious and unique. I never had such a unique soup before. My words cannot describe the fantasticness of the soup! I would recommend everybody to try the Cherry soup. Also, your scones were warm, fresh and delicious! I can see why people love your scones. Next time I come, I want to try your famous Chicken Potpie. I can’t wait to visit your teahouse again.

We held a baby shower here on Saturday and Carine and her staff made everything perfect. The food was delicious, as was the tea, and they graciously met all of our requests and then some. Without being asked our waiter even brought out a trash bag for the wrapping paper as soon as we started opening gifts! That is great and thoughtful service. Everything was great and I would recommend the place highly for showers and similar events.

      Tearoom response:

It was a pleasure serving you and your guests. We thank you for your business and hope to serve you again in the future. Thanks again, Carine

Delightful and delicious! Enjoyed a wonderful lunch (celery soup, chicken/spinach/feta-filled crepe and strudel) and will return!

Simply wonderful! First, the tea- I had some of the 'precious eyebrows' tea (delicious), and I HIGHLY recommend it. Next, the food- my 3 companions and I had the 'Light Afternoon Tea.' DELICIOUS. Words cannot describe the fantasticness of the food- the scones were scrumptious and fresh, the finger sandwiches were adorable and tasty (they surprised this steadfast picky eater!), and the desserts were HEAVENLY. We went on a weekend afternoon at 3pm (so the place was fairly quiet and not busy), and my mother made the reservations. The service was perfect- the waitress was polite and didn't hover, and the chef/owner(?) brought out the tray and explained what the foods were. It was SUCH a relaxing time that I can't WAIT to go back and bring my friends. Seriously. I've been bugging them every weekend since. The only critique I could possibly have is a small one- the menu describes the teas well, but our waitress didn't seem to know much about the teas, and just repeated what the menu said. Perhaps educate the server a bit more? Doesn't matter to me, but I was thinking for tea aficionados, maybe. Look, if the tea was served by gorillas on rollerskates, I would still dine here. IT'S THAT GOOD.

My girlfriends and I came to this teahouse because we had never been to one and were excited about the experience. The menue selection was poor, the food was not very good (we had butternut squash soup and eggsalad sandwiches) the tea was delicious, although we had to ask the server two times for our cream. The server was not very friendly, although it did appear he was the only server at the entire teahouse. Overall, I would come back for tea but definently not for food or service.

What a charming place! After my first visit to the Roswell Teahouse, I couldn't wait to share my discovery with all my friends. Finally, somebody came up with a 'healthy' idea. Very clever. I love the anti-aging menu. Tastes fantastic and you don't have to feel guilty about enjoying it. Perfect place to spend time with your friends.

WOW! I have enjoyed several visits at the Roswell Teahouse. Last week my tennis team organized an end of season high tea experience. We got to drink different freshly brewed teas. They served us a delicious homemade soup. Then came a very nicely presented plate of miniature sandwiches, scones and deserts. Everything tasted absolutely great. Everyone at the table praised the food, the service and also the cozy and inviting atmosphere. Also being able to park across the street in the church parking lot makes going to the Roswell Teahouse an stressfee and relaxing experience.
