Imagine yourself strolling down the sidewalk of a grand tearoom in a turn-of-the century town. It's a beautiful spring day in 1897. You are on your way to meet your best friend for the day at this beautifu1 1897 Queen Anne Victorian home tea room. You are dressed in your finest white Battenberg lace dress, a parasol is resting on your shoulder, and an elegant feathered hat is making you the envy of every woman there. The tearoom entrance is filled with fragrances of fresh baked bread and quiches. The warm afternoon sunlight falls on beautifully set tables and the beautiful vintage china and pictures that dress the walls. The floral carpeting and hardwood floor gives off a cool touch completing the perfect setting. As you are seated by the hostess, you gently smile, turn, and nod to admiring faces. You've come to share a moment in time with someone very special and without plan or program you begin to open your heart. Soon both of you are talking, laughing, sighing and maybe even crying. Before long, each of you begins to experience the renewal, refreshment and restoration of 'Tyme Well Spent'.

My Red Hat Friends and I had a lovely tea at Tyme Well Spent today. the food was delicious with an array of tea choices. Their was a variety of delicious food and plenty of it. The scones were wonderful and warm from the oven. The price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful time dining at Tyme Well Spent last Saturday. We brought a lady with us that had never been to a tea room and she loved everything about it. The food was delicious, tea very relaxing and Nancy's sweet personality and attention to detail just topped it all off. We will definitely return soon for another enjoyable afternoon!

We celebrated my friend's birthday at Tyme Well Spent and while it was our first visit, it will not be the last. The Victorian decor was exquisite and the selection of teas was almost endless. We enjoyed the holiday specials--candy cane and ginger spice; both were delicious. The teas were served in teapots with matching burners which kept the last cup as hot as the first. The quiche was freshly baked and mouth-watering. Our almond cake for dessert was light and full of flavor. Even if you aren't usually a fan of antiques, you won't want to miss browsing through the fascinating array of unique items for sale at very reasonable prices. We found ourselves transported to an era when women were superlatively fashionable and feminine. The service was efficient, friendly, and even charming. Thanks, Nancy!

Our group made reservations for a SUNDAY luncheon a couple weeks ago and, as always, Nancy outdid herself to make sure our event was memorable! This was our second visit for our annual event and we're looking forward to checking out the Fall Menu, too! Did I mention that the Shop is adorable ?!? By the way - we think reservations are the only way to go when visiting any Tea Room !! Keep up the good work, Nancy !!

I have been driving the hour down to this tearoom for three years now and bringing new and returning friends each time. Tyme Well Spent is a lovely, charming teacup bedecked home that is so very inviting. Nancy's decorating, tables, china, and music make it a relaxing and calming afternoon. She has a wide variety of teas, a very nice menu for lunch, and tradional tea available. I also enjoy the various tea related items she has for sale. If you need to get away for an afternoon with a friend, come here and escape for a short time.

A friend took me here for my birthday. Had a wonderful time! Will make reservations and go again and again. Quite surprised to see a complaint about being turned away. An empty table does not mean the table is not reserved. Nancy would certainly have fit you in had she been able. Always better to call ahead when going to such a quaint well established tea room. Everything homemade and excellent!

What a delightful lunch! This tea room is in a lovingly restored Victorian home, and you feel you have stepped back into time about 120 years! The tables and the rooms are beautifully decorated! The tea menu offered about 30-40 teas, and they brew them and then bring the pot to your table and sit it on a candle to keep it hot! We are tea novices, but Nancy and her staff are so helpful--it was a fun adventure. We were there for lunch, not for the High Tea, but the food was excellent. All the lunches are the same price--just short of $11 and include soup or salad and a tea bread. Everything was very fresh and obviously homemade. The food was presented beautifully with fresh fruit. This was a lovely experience and we will return! (I am surprised to see the review below which complained about not being seated without reservations. If the table was empty, I am sure it was reserved. Make reservations!)

Nancy is always smiling and friendly, I don't understand, how when the site says reservations only, would one expect to be served without one, She takes the time to prepare fresh food daily for the reservations she has, to ensure the highest of quality. I go frequently, and will return. Her service and food, are top notch.

We attended a baby shower on Sunday at the tea room and had a marvelous time. The home is beautifully decorated but not so over done that you feel out of place. We had a high tea served to us and I have to say, it was a wonderful experience. The teas that were chosen for the tables to begin with and then the teas we were able to try were all so wonderful. We purchased some of the ones we didn't try just knowing they would be as superb as the ones tasted. Once again I'd like to compliment the owners on a tyme well spent.

I returned to Thyme Well Spent Tea Room yesterday for some long overdue BFF time with my friend Koni. Our tea reservation was for 1:00 p.m. We didn't leave until 3:30 p.m. after a leisurely afternoon of tea, lunch, intimate conversation and perusing vintage gift items. The mouton jacket was calling my name, but so were a beautiful pair of Aurora Borealis earrings. In the end, the earrings called the loudest. I have lived and visited many parts of the world and had tea in most of them. I would favorably compare Tyme Well Spent Tea Room with most any establishment I have ever visited. The Tea list is expansive. The food menu may not be as large, but of the best quality. I would highly recommend them to anyone. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. The decor is lovely and I have been surprised at their collection of tea items and antiques for sale. Plan to spend a couple of hours for your lunch and shopping.

I could not give anything but a 5 star review to this special tearoom. I had the pleasure of joining an old friend I had not seen in many years this past Thursday, Oct. 22, for a happy reunion. This is such an authentic atmosphere with very delicious food. Tea sandwiches with small fruit accompaniments, scones with devonshire cream and lemon curd, and the beautiful teired dessert plate are the tea menu. Naturally the tea selections are the finest as well. But the friendly, attentive service is what really makes this extra special. Nancy, the owner, is the heart of this old Victorian tearoom.

I and three of my friends came for lunch today and had a great time. We all got something different and everything was delicious. My chicken salad was great, but the portion size was a little too much for me. Could have had about half that much. The soup was terrific with homemade noodles. The presentation was perfect and the atmosphere is charming, even in the rainy weather. Be prepared to spend a little more than you may usually spend on a lunch, but it was worth it.

What an absolutely delightful time I had during my visit. My daughter invited me to the join her for a lecture on victorian underpinnings and I am so glad that I went. I was just enthralled with the entire afternoon. Everything from the beautiful victorian home to the teas and food served were a delight. On this occasion the teas were prepared in separate tea pots and kept hot over tea candle holders. There must have been 8 - 10 teas prepared and I tasted all of them. My favorite was the victorian earl gray. The food was fresh, delicious and all was home made. No store bought items here. The cheese cake was to die for. If I could only get my hands on that recipe. The lecturer was so knowledgable and very interesting. The many beautiful items for sale kept me there much longer than I had intended to stay. I want to thank my daughter for inviting me to this wonderful place and I also want to thank the staff of the tea house for turning an otherwise mundane Saturday into an extraordinary day. The selection of teas were wonderful. Nancy was very helpful in helping us choose what teas we would like the best. I even purchased some of the wonderful Vanilla Pear tea to take home. Everything about this Tea Room was fantastic. We were not rushed at all. We ate our delicious meal, shopped in the vintage gift shop for at least 45 minutes and returned to our table for a slice of homemade cheesecake. I highly recommend this tea room and will be returning there next week with other friends. I cannot wait to share this experience with everyone I know. Thank you Nancy!

      Tearoom response:

      Sara
It was really a pleasure and alot of fun waiting on you and your friends. It took me back in time when I first started visiting tea rooms at your age and the wonderful sense of peace and friendship it brought into my life. May you enjoy many more days like the one you experienced at Tyme Well Spent.
Nancy

What a fantastic Valentine's Day delight! My husband and I were first time visitors to your charming place, as a result of an invitation, and high recommendation from our dear friends, Jud and Pam. We have heard them frequently mention the times they have been there for teas, and we were extremely excited when they asked us to join them this time. My chicken salad was bountiful and elegantly presented on a bed of lettuce. My husband loved the spinach quiche and homemade pumpkin bread. The four of us had a great time sharing each other's tea selections. However, the highlight of our afternoon was when Judy personally sang a romantic song to us while serving our meal. It was lovely! She and Nancy were such gracious hostesses. Time just flew by, and yes, it was Tyme Well Spent. We had a memorable time and eagerly look forward to our next visit there.

      Tearoom response:

      Dear Dan & Paula,
What a generous review. Thank you so much taking the 'tyme' to let us know just how memorable your visit was with us. We are so thankful when our guests enjoy themselves so much they are willing to write on our behalf. What a joy to have the chance to sing 'Because of You', because there really is 'a song in my heart' to serve guests like you. With much appreciation! Judy

The annual Christmas tea on December 6, 2008 delivered as advertised. Tyme Well Spent called to each of us…and on a snowy December afternoon, friends old and new (Nancy, Cindy, Marcia, Wanda, Nikki and Carol) came together to embrace the spirit of the holiday season. Yes, it was chilly outside - but not in…as our hearts were warmed by conversation and plentiful, hot pots of tea. What a joyful time we had. Friendships were celebrated (talking, laughing and yes, even crying), a delectable tea menu was savored, carols were sung, stories were shared; all in the quaint, yester-year Victorian holiday setting of Tyme Well Spent tea room. Oh…and did I forget to say shopping, for just that the perfect vintage gift? Thank you Tyme Well Spent, you were a gift to all who attended. See you soon. Carol Moore (Nikki, Nancy, Cindy, Marcia & Wanda)

      Tearoom response:

Dear Carol, Nikki, Wanda, Marcia, Cindy and Nancy,
Wow, thank you so much for your great review. It is hard to put a value on something as wonderful as friendship, kindness, caring and love. Matter of fact nothing can come close to these essentials and to live without them would be disaster. We are so glad your hearts were warmed, your friendships were celebrated and your tummies were happy! It is truly a pleasure to serve our guests and we look forward to your next visit. Best regards and Merry Christmas. Judy

My friend and I found this treasure on the TeaMap website. We took a 4 day vacation to visit as many tearooms as possible - we got to 3. This was our second stop. We couldn't have been more enchanted. The room is beautifully decorated and the food and service was top notch. I would be thrilled to go there again!

Fabulous menu options with the most delicious soup that stayed hot until the last spoon full. Melt in you mouth scones were served with gorgeous devonshire cream. Then there were the desserts... oh my, we shared them all. Thank you for making a wonderful memory for us. We will be back.

My 11 year old son was not looking forward to this visit, as few 11 year old boys covet visits to a tea room. He was so bowled over by the delicious food, tea and bread, that we are both still talking about it five months later. Lovely atmosphere, traditional. Pretty china, silver. Diverse and good quality shopping right there. Can't wait to go back to Michigan to go there again!

      Tearoom response:

My sister and I ventured to Hartland, a little hamlet NW of Detroit. Nancy met us at the door and showed us to our table which was adorned with antique linens. Situated in the middle of the table was a dessert platter which made a great visual of the good food to come, which enhanced our appetite. A wide variety of desserts were displayed, one more delicious-looking than the other. The tea sandwiches were egg salad, pineapplie with cream cheese and pecans spread on date bread, and a a tiny orange muffin which held turkey and cranberry sauce. The chicken salad had cranberries and apples in it and the omnipresent cucumer sandwiches rounded out the selection. You could tell everything was freshly made, as you had to call 24 hours in advance to have tea. Truly delicious they all were. Lunch is also available and that consists of quiche, soups, and desserts which looked scrumptious as they made their way to nearby tables. The warm scone was chock full of blueberries, and was served with Devon Cream and lemon curd. We were in scone heaven! Tea choices were abundant; served was loose leaf tea in individual pots. The tea was decanted, much to our happiness. Judy, the owner, came to say hello to us and remembered my sister Marian, who had only been to tea a few times there before. I was much impresesed with the Tyme Well Spent Tea Room and Gift Shoppe. The gift shoppe is not to be missed, located on the second floor. Marian purchased an French antique cut tablecloth and napkins in pristine condition. All in all, my sister and I had a delightful time with delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and definitely, Tyme Well Spent!

Last Friday (02-02-07) our group of four gals had a simply delightful time at your TEA ROOM !!! We thoroughly enjoyed the restoration of the home, the shopping selection was quite nice (there are several things that I'll need to purchase on future trips to your shop) and the lunch was both plentiful and delicious! Did I mention how much we loved the selection of teas ?!?!? Also, we learned the true use for a 'tea lite' ...... the four of use, combined, total over 200 years of age and none of us ever realized the origin of that little candle !! Well, I'm telling all my friends that your Tea Room is the PERFECT place to meet for lunch !!! THANK YOU !!!

Time well spent indeed - What started out as a aggravating problematic day turned around completely as soon as my girlfriend and I stepped foot inside the door of Thyme Well Spent. The decor is beutiful, the rooms sunlite and the food is ample as well as tasty. I only wish I had known the menu ahead of time so I could have made reservations for the full tea. None the matter though as I quite enjoyed my soup, moist tea bread and spinach quiche. The Earl Grey Victorian tea was hot and refreshing. Our waitress, one of the owners, was very cheerful, attentive and informative. All in all our time passed pleasantly and my day has much improved. We will definately be back again. It was worth the drive from Royal Oak! By the way, my girlfriend was not up for the drive and really tried to get out of going. She is now considering holding a bridal luncheon there! Enough said.

I was traveling with a friend for a Quester convention on October 10th in the area and I suggested going here for lunch. My friend and I had a wonderful lunch with a warm soup, quiche and a delicious pot of tea. Our server was friendly and a bonus was that the group who filled the ajacent room got a brief history of the home from one of the owners and we could hear it too. Questers are a historical preservation and restoration group, so it was only fitting that we enjoyed hearing this lesson at lunch. We had a lovely lunch in a beautiful setting. We also enjoyed shopping upstairs in the gift and antiques area which wasn't open the last two times I had been here. I hope to see you again soon! Thanks for another wonderful experience.

This is a lovely tea room. My friend and I had a very pleasant visit here. The tea was wonderful (I had the Lavender Earl Grey). The rooms are lovely. The service was friendly and quick--maybe just a tad too quick! I had the Yorkshire beef stew which was a disappointment. It truly tasted like canned Dinty Moore beef stew--not what I was expecting. Everything else was marvelous, though, and I would gladly return to this gem of a tea room. We are so fortunate to live within a relatively easy driving distance of some wonderful tea rooms in southeast Michigan. I just wish the one in my own hometown was a fraction as nice!

I've been hearing wonderful things about this tea room but couldn't go until 3/4/06. It was an impromptu visit and I was delighted to get a reservation on short notice. The tea room was well worth the 53 mile drive! There's not one thing that could be improved. The tea was superb and stayed hot on its warmer throughout the entire tea meal. There were several lunch selections to choose from and each course tasted as good as it looked -- a mini loaf of pumpkin bread, potato soup (served in a depression glass cup and saucer) and a delicious chicken salad. Service was prompt, friendly and unrushed in this beautifully restored Victorian farm house. The ambiance was perfect for tea time and I was delighted to see several younger women enjoying the ritual of Afternoon Tea. Browsing the lovely upstairs gift shop was the perfect ending to a perfect afternoon. Tyme Well Spent is one of Michigan's finest tea rooms and I highly recommend it. I will return as often as possible.

This tearoom is in a lovingly restored old home. The decor is elegant and accented with collections of old hats, silver tea pots and tea cups. The food was delicious and presentation was beautiful. The gift shop had a nice selection. This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.

Happened to hear your Tearoom mentioned at exercise class in Fenton this Valentine's morning. Spur of the moment drop-in AND found it was the delight of our day. Such ambiance, excellent steeped tea, homemade soup & sweetbread, sumptuous main dish. We left feeling like Queen-for-the-day, and will certainly be back. Pauline & Ev

      Tearoom response:

      Dearest Pauline and Eve,
Thank you for the review. People like you make it sooooooo easy to serve. It was our pleasure to make your day. Please join us again and bring a friend, there is always room for one more Queen! Thank you, Judy

A Five-Star Tea Room - bountiful food (vegetarian) was EXCELLENT! Tea was hot, decanted loose, served in a pot. Missed having flavored black tea choices. Vegetables would have balanced out all the 'sweet' foods.

      Tearoom response:

More black teas coming up! Look for Cream Earl Grey with next shipment of fine teas. Glad to accomodate your special dietary needs. Thank you for letting us serve you. Judy

My card club group spent several hours here on Saturday, December 3rd, we had a wonderful time. The food was very good, the shops were interesting and the Christmas singing group was enjoyable. What a great time.
