Very disappointing and awkward experience. Traveled from out of state to take my Mom for a birthday tea. Arrived during business hours, rudely greeted by the owner and told we had to have a reservation and that the restaurant was closed (despite seeing two groups of ladies enjoying tea inside.) The website did NOT explicitly say that reservations were required. The owner finally conceded and pushed a table into the corner for us. She complained constantly to us about the new cook and the inconvenience of us arriving without a reservation, left the kitchen door open so we heard the crashing pots and pans, and were charged for a full tea even though we were only served half of the tea without the sandwiches. (No menu with prices was given.) My order came out wrong, and no attempt was made to fix it. Extremely unprofessional behavior and unwelcoming visit with appalling lack of customer service. Highly discourage others from paying an arm and a leg to go through such a dismal experience.

Disappointed does not even describe it. The owner was overly rude which appalled me and embarrassed me. Pretentious bitch describes her at best. Sad.

I brought my 8 year old sister for her first tea party (other than at my place) and it was such a great experience! We called the day of to make reservations as we were not sure how our schedule was going to be and they graciously accepted us! We were in the cutest little room for two in what looked like an enclosed patio- super cute and we were so happy to have gotten this spot. All of the food was delicious and our server was excellent( I am sorry I have forgotten her name). We will definitely be back!

Wonderful as always! This tea room carries such wonderful teas, loose and bagged, tea straining cups, tea sets for children, and lots of other unique items in their gift shop, including cards with tea bags in them! I took my daughter here for her 18th birthday and i am so glad we were seated on the patio! The landscaping is beautiful, the fountain was such a treat to listen to. The loose teas we chose (you can have as much and as many kinds as you like, as long as you finish each pot!) were Lime Chiffon and Raspberry White Chocolate. It was very difficult to choose though! They had Blueberry Crumble, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and so many more and each one smells better than the last! They were fantastic! Brewed to perfection. The food was to live for! Mushroom soup, salad with feta, Garlic and Cheddar Scone with herb butter, Turtle Scone with clotted cream. Then the delightful sandwiches and desserts. Since it was my daughter's birthday, they put a candle in the lavender cupcake with lemon frosting. We couldn't have had a more perfect afternoon!

I have been to Camellia's Sin more times than I can count! The food and tea selections have never disappointed. Their sticky toffee pudding at Christmas time is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The fruit soup during the summer is also one of my all time favorites. During the holidays I even brought my uncle and my father who were skeptical of going to a tea house and they ended up loving it as well as the ladies did!

It was a spur of the moment and we were lucky enough to obtain a table for 2 this past Saturday as my best friend and I had plans to walk around Carlisle and visit some of our favorite shops. The tea was delightful and the food exquisite. The atmosphere is breathtaking and the staff are very eloquent.

This tea shop is absolutely incredible, from the atmosphere to the food and the tea! I have visited twice with a group of friends, and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly, as well as accommodating to the vegetarians in the group. The menu is different each month, but the quality of the food remains excellent--I'm particularly fond of the scones, and the salad is delicious (I don't usually enjoy salad, so I'm very impressed!). Of course, the tea is lovely as well. I really appreciate that you can try an unlimited number of the different varieties, with the only caveat being that you must finish a pot before requesting another tea. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and I would definitely recommend visiting Camellia's if you have the chance!

First of all, I called at the last minute to make reservations for 4 and they were very accommodating. I had my family in from out of town (Chicago area) and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were able to sample from a wide selections of tea with unlimited refills. The courses were displayed eloquently and were homemade and delicious. Unfortunately, my husband was unable to go with us. My father joined us and he had a wonderful time. We visited the gift shop and we purchased some beautiful items from their shop. I will definitely be back and with my husband. Thank you for everything.

What a wonderful experience this was! The parlor was exactly as you would imagine for a relaxing tea lunch. The best part was the most spectacular scones I have ever tasted! We will definitely be returning to enjoy your wonderful hospitality. Thank you!

Came here for tea with my mother and step-father. We were charmed by the lovely served, Kaylie, who was bubbling with charm and enthusiasm. Working in hospitality, I wish I could bottle her attitude and dispense it to my staff! The food was lovely - greatly enjoyed the Italian wedding soup and lavender scone. The idea of pairing cucumber with cottage cheese and watermelon with a dash of pepper was simply outstanding. Will definitely be back!

Every tea pot has a unique tea cozy. They offer several teas brewed to the best flavor and you may choose a different flavor with each refill. The foods were delicious and presented beautifully on tiered trays. I would recommend to anyone even if you do not enjoy tea.

Where ever I travel I always visit the local tearoom. Whether I'm in Pennsylvania, Boston, South Carolina, Virgina, Washington DC, or New York City I have found none that compares to Camellia'Sin Tea Parlor in Carlisle, PA. This tea house has really spoiled me and has set my expectations high for other tea rooms. An exceptional high tea must offer soup, salad, a variety of scones, lemon curd and whey (preferably homemade)is mandatory, a pile of delectable savories, unique desserts and a variety of loose leaf black teas (preferably Snow Flake or Pineapple Upside Down), including sugar cubes served with miniature tongs. The surroundings should be Victorian with linen table clothes and napkins, beautiful patterned tea services, elegant glasses, soothing background music, and a exquisite gift shop to meander through when tea is completed. Camilla Sin offers a superb high tea experience and I am always eager to return.

I can not say enough good things about Camellia's Sin! I have been going there since shortly after it opened in Dec 2005 and now travel 2 hours by car to get there for the amazing food, tea, and great experience. The service is always excellent and the food divine! Even foods I think I may not like turn out to be delicious and devoured quickly. The tea Parlor provides a selection of hats to wear to have a fun tea time and the table settings are beautiful, with each table having a different color/theme. Each month the menu changes, but it is always delicious. Changes can be made for special diets when you call ahead for reservations. The selection of teas is fairly extensive--loose leaf tea from Harney and Sons that include traditional choices like Earl Gray and English Breakfast as well as flavored black tea, my favorite being the house blend and the snowflake tea. I believe there are also green and herbal teas available. This tea parlor is definitely the best I have ever been to. If you are ever near Carlisle, PA, definitely give it a try!

Can't say enough wonderful things about Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor. From the stellar service to their extensive tea selection to their delicious and abundant menu choices, everything was superb. We had 2 delicious teas, curried pumpkin soup, 3 different scones and delectable sandwiches and sweets. We were so full, we took our desserts home as well as extra scones that we were able to buy. I've been to many tea houses, and Camellia's ranks in my top 5. Well worth the trip to Carlisle, PA. They also have an excellent gift shop too.

Belladonna Red Hat Group attended tea at Camellia's earlier this week. We began our day with a bundle event where we enjoyed the salt cave at a local wellness center in the morning, (which Lyn, the owner of Camellias helped to coordinate); then to Camellias for lunch & tea. Lovely place, friendly staff. It was a brisk fall day outside so the squash soup was an immediate hit! The salad, scones, & finger sandwiches were all equally delicious. We also enjoyed a pumpkin tea in keeping with the fall theme, as well as a snowflake black tea as we thought ahead to winter. We chose an English garden tea to accompany our dessert. The atmosphere was casually elegant, the accompanying gift shop a shoppers delight! I believe each of the members in our group purchased something we could not live without. Highly recommend Camellias Sin Tea Parlor.

While planning a trip to the area, we found Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor on TeaMap and made reservations. Although my husband and I arrived early, our hostess/server Kara received us graciously and seated us promptly. The many varieties of loose tea available were described and we enjoyed tasting different new choices-my husband liked 'Paris' and I really loved 'Pineapple Upside Down Cake.' Our food was beautifully presented and delicious. While allowing us our privacy, still Kara was attentive to our needs with friendly conversation. We felt like we were old friends! We have enjoyed tea at many tearooms in the United States; Camellia's Sin ranks as one of our very favorites! We will return whenever we are in the vicinity.

My first visit to Camellias-sin will definitely not be my last! I came down from western NY to take my cousin to Afternoon Tea here. We were both delighted. There was a wide selection of teas and herbal teas which the owner discussed/explained. We always opt for some version of black teas and this was a very good Irish Breakfast tea. Everything from the refreshing fruit based cold soup through the salad, scones (with Devonshire Cream and lemon curd), to sandwiches and sweets were exceptionally well prepared and fresh. The owner prepares everything and does all her baking ( on Tuesdays). I have enjoyed afternoon tea in many places across several states and the UK and Ireland...this is truly in the top three! Camellia's Tea parlor is an elegant, cozy tea room that rivals tea rooms around the world. High tea at Camellia's is an experience that tops the list of things to do in central PA. From the squash soup to the homemade scones, fresh greens with feta and delicious variety of sandwiches, each course was presented by the gracious proprietor and we were never rushed. In fact, we spent 3 hours sipping tea and enjoying all of the delicacies. The sticky toffee pudding was by far the most incredible dessert I have ever eaten. Don't miss an opportunity to spend an afternoon at Camellia's Tea Parlor.

Today I went with a group of friends for the Dickens Tea. There were three holiday teas offered, all of which were delicious. However, the real piece de resistance was the sticky toffee pudding! I have tasted sticky toffee pudding all over Scotland, but this was the best I have ever had. OMG!

We had my daughter's baby shower at Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor. It was an amazing and charming atmosphere. Each guest was made to feel special. The guests who were gluten free found the food excellent. All of the food was excellent. It was a very conducive environment for conversation. Lin went out of her way to schedule the tea - we had an unexpected snow in October and she opened the shop for us to have the tea on Sunday.

My daughter lives in Carlisle, Pa. so whenever I come to visit from Florida, I look so forward to visiting Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor with her. We love the excellent tea varieties, the delicious food and the whimsical, friendly atmosphere, and, of course, the gracious service. This tea room surpassed my expectations. My Sis-in-law took me here for my birthday and it is one of those special memories I will treasure forever. From our quaint little table by the window(complete with fresh flowers),victorian decor, and lovely atmosphere, to the delicious food, numerous tea choices and excellent service, it was just one of moments you want to stay in forever. We just sat and talked for two hours and both agreed that this will definitely happen again next year when we visit Carlisle. Thank you so much!!!

What a delightful experience! I've had the pleasure of visiting Camellia's Sin twice during the past two months. Each time it surpassed my expectations! The last time was to celebrate my Aunt's 85th birthday and my mother's 84th birthday -they are still raving about the experience. The service and food choices were excellent. I bought two kinds of tea in the gift shop--Snowflake and Fairy Dust-both are perfect for a mid afternoon treat. I also found the cutest child's tea set so I can make tea party memories with my grandchildren. Noah and I made cookies yesterday and he served the 'tea'. Actually it was water but it was a sweet memory. Thanks Lin --you and your tea parlour are very special! Marcia A.

It was raining buckets out side but your tea parlor was a buzzed of sun shine. We had the Full tea party, the atmoshere and our servers were genuine great. The menu starting with a variety of teas, salad, scones (out of this world), tea sandwiches, pasties and cookies from beginning to the end ever thing was delicious. My friend had the 'House' tea and I the Darjeeling. Both were good quality. Took a package of House tea to brew at home. Started off with Apple Butternut Squah soup which was delicious. Next came a beautiful salad topped with seasonal fruit served with two varieties of scones -- fresh apple, cranberry and cnnamon served with lemon curd and a sundried tomato parmasean scone with an herbed butter. Yesterday, I took three generations to the Mother's Day Tea at Camellia's. We had been to many tearooms in our ventures but this has to be at the top of the list. The atmosphere is so delightful with a bit of whimsy Victorian decor but not overwhelming. The food was scrumptious and I must admit filling. You can see that a lot of thought went into the menu planning and preparation. Chocolate cake was the very best we ever ate!!! And I really mean that. Lovely tea room with co-ordinated settings at each place. Hostess was very attentive. Her selection of teas for each course was perfect, though wether loose or bagged teas were used is unknown as all pots arrived without bag or leaves. Unfortunately it was a busy day and the tea did not arrive hot enough. Her brand of English Breakfast is a poor quality and rather weak. The wild mushroom soup was fabulous, though by the end of the serving the flavor of garlic overpowered the mushroom. Both the raisin and lavender scones were rather dry and a bit hard. Lemon curd was delicious, lite and the perfect bite. Devonshire cream was more like a light whip cream. Our cucumber/cream cheese sandwich had the delightful twist of red pepper and garlic salt sprinkled on top. The best I've had yet. The olive nut sweatbreat was wonderful, the savory a rather sad store bought item. The chicken salad on croissant could have used a little bit of something to take it from bland to tasty. Deserts were ok, but the jelly bean sugar cookie was stale, hard and had soggy jellybeans. Obviously stored in the freezer since easter. Atmosphere and tea rated better than food.

I started going to Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor soon after it opened in 2005. At the time I was a student at Dickinson College and it was a fun thing for my friends and I to do. Since graduating, I've relocated to Maryland and tried several other tea parlors and none of them have been able to compare. Just today my former college roommate and I drove about 3 hours just to have tea there! As always, it was wonderful and the customer service was outstanding! I just can't say enough about Camellia's Sin!

Yesterday, I attended the 'Football Widows Tea' at this tearoom with several of my friends. We make it a habit to visit tearooms from near and afar and I have to say this is one of the best experiences we have ever had. The tea choices were many and the teapot never stayed empty. We tried as many as we liked until we 'floated away'. The Glitter and Gold (a vanilla spice) and Snowflake (coconut, almond, and cinnamon) and Nutcracker (citrus spice) were our favorites and can be purchased in the enchanting gift shop. There was a choice of soups - Borscht (beets from Lin's organic garden) and a Tuscan bean also very delicious. Scones and the lemon curd the best we ever tasted. Sandwiches and desserts were delicious as well. For more fun, we played 'Teago' which was like bingo but had an educational twist about 'tea'. The owner made sure that everyone left with a gift. Since the menu changes every month, we plan to visit this tearoom often. Thanks Lin and staff for a wonderful day.

My wife and I had celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary at this tearoom. We heard so much about it from our daughters who are regular customers. Needless to say, I was never at a tearoom (being a man) and my wife never experienced a 'tea' so we were there strictly on our daughter's recommendation. It was most delightful. The atmosphere was a little victorian but not overwhelming. The food was delicious and plentiful. I thought I would go away still hungry but we even had to ask for a doggie bag to take home with us. The owner, Lin, was very nice and catered to our every need. We are planning to go back now as a family.

When my best friend was getting married I set up her bridal shower here. The food WAS excellent, but I found dealing with the staff to be very difficult. We were told that we would be the only ones there that day, which we had hoped for as there were quite a few of us. Instead it was opened up to whoever could walk in. Being that it's a business and needs to make money, understandable. It was just the first in a string of bad or no communication, though. We were also told we could take as long as we liked, but we'd been there for a bit more than an hour and the owner came out asking if she could cut the cake up to send home with us. I was very surprised, as I assumed no time limit meant no time limit, and she hadn't come to me to say she was hoping to close up. We were rushed through a great many of our courses and when it was done I felt like we were pushed out the door. AT one point someone walked through the middle of our party to take a photo off the wall that was apparently for sale, but never said excuse me. We had to finish at the bride's house, which was far too small to accomodate all of us. The entire time it felt as if they were doing us a favor and we were inconveniencing them for being there after giving them several hundred dollars for the space. I won't ever return there because of how we treated. I'm glad others have had a better time, it looked promising before this event occured.

My office visited Camellia's Sin Tea Parlor as a special introductory to a new employee. I am not much of a tea drinker and had never been to a parlor before. I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food and teas presented to us. Normally a picky eater, I found myself finishing everything that touched my plate. All of the food was homemade, with the ingredients for our soup coming directly from the owner's garden. We tried three different teas - House Tea, Earl Grey and Snowflake. We all agreed that the Snowflake was our favorite. The parlor itself was very whimsical and relaxing, as we found ourselves still carrying out our conversion long after dessert was finished. Even our lone male employee had a wonderful time.

Like many of you, because we really enjoy tea rooms, we have had tea at the Ritz in San Francisco and at Herrod's of London. I mention these other venues because we felt that the tea choice, the wide array of delicious food, and the attentive service at Camellia's was superior to these other two experiences. The environment is comfortable and relaxing, the china table settings are beautiful, and the scones and lemon curd were the best ever. This tea room is a model to be greatly enjoyed and appreciated. We were so happy that our vacation route took us through Carlisle.

The decor in not all lace and fuffie so I felt very comfortable in the dining room.Don't worry there are no mannequins staring as shown on the web site. My wife and I have taken tea in many parts of the world, including Brown's Hotel in London, the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, the Rose Cottage Tea Room in Pasadena, and the Chado tea rooms in Los Angeles. Despite the limited selection (but of high quality—my Assam and my wife's Earl Grey were both superb), our experience today ranks equal to the best of the best. The quiche was magnificently savory; the scones were mine, which are the best I've ever had; the asparagus wrapped in puff pastry was crunchy but not stringy; the chicken salad sandwich in a tiny, delicate brioche-tender roll let the flavor of the chicken come through without smothering it; the rich, complex chocolate pot de creme served cold in a tiny phyllo pastry cup, and many other tastes were all incomparably memorable. The table settings were elegant without being fussy, each table and chairs set with different sets of fine china teapots and cups. The overall effect in the dining room itself was stunning, especially since the room was dominated by a huge highboy with many shelves of teapots, cups and dishes on display. Lest you think I'm a restauranteur, or a food editor female and fiftyish, I'm a male professional, 63, who's been baking seriously for 42 years and who is married to a woman who is a tea and teapot addict. I'm lucky she chooses great places to go for tea, including this one, one of the best in the world. The shop was not my cup of tea (remember, I'm a guy) but my wife found unusual and delightful tea greeting cards that she had not seen before. Teas are sold there as well. By the way, Lynn went out of her way to find the name of the album of romantic flute music she was playing when we entered the dining room, helping me track down Berceuse by Faure, a composition I had been trying to find for 35 years. This was typical of her helpful, meticulous and friendly service. The attention to detail and devotion to customer service are the hallmarks of her tearoom and the basis of her success. The world (and Carlisle, Pennsylvania) are richer for her endeavor.

The table was beautifully set with different pieces of silver flatware and the teacups were all different and lovely. I am not usually a tea drinker, preferring coffee, but the Snowflake tea was smooth and delicious. The tea sandwiches and savories and the desserts were all fabulous; in fact, I couldn't eat all my food. We were allowed to sit and talk without interruption even after we had clearly finished our meal. Then, I thoroughly enjoyed the gift shop part of the tea house, buying several unusual pieces of jewelry. I plan to take friends of mine to Camellia's Sin soon and hopefully, to find more jewelry! Recently my very large party of 23 people experienced a mix-up of our reservation at the California Cafe. Unfortunately it was the day of college graduation and they could not handle us. But, Lynn Jackson of Camellia's Sin took our entire group into her tea room and allowed the restaurant to feed us there. She was an awesome and gracious host. I will always sing her praises. Not to mention it was her birthday and she could have easily and with justification have gone home to celebrate. She did not, instead she served us and I am grateful. Thank you Lynn

My fiancee secretly planned a tea experience for myself, my future mother-in-law and sister-in-law at Camellia's Sin tea room. The atmosphere was excellent and the food very complimentary to the tea. I was slightly disapointed that we did not have a tea menu for personal selection. All guests were offered three tea choices. Our table sampled them which included house blend, raspberry tisane, and snowflake. These loose-leaf teas were very pleasant and I enjoyed the snowflake's coconut and almond hints most. We selected tea hats from the wall by the gift shop and wore them while taking tea. I especially thought this a nice touch. I will recommend Camellia's and visit again.

I just attended the Mystery Tea on February 3rd, and wanted to extend my thanks to my hosts and the lovely 'suspects' in the murder of the Dastardly Duke of Darjeeling! The luncheon was heartier than I expected for tea sandwiches, particularly good was the red beet soup! The house blend tea and the Green Tea with Almond were my favorites of the selection of teas offered. It's clear that the owners relish the fun and relaxation offered by the tea break- each detail is thoughtfully planned to enhance the experience. From the sensual gift shop displays to the vintage hats offered to be worn during the tea - even the hooks holding the hats are fashioned from vintage flatwear forks and spoons. As the Maid of Honor it was my job to plan a bridal shower. I chose this place as it was the fastest to respond and seemed the most willing to do business. At the beginning I was quite impressed with this. But when we actually got there, my attitude changed. I am assuming it was the manager/owner who was there that day. I was told that Sundays were by reservation only, but upon arrival I was told that she decided to open the tea room to whoever wanted to walk in. The only reason I wasn't furious with this was because they had opted to set us off in a side room where we wouldn't be as disturbed by people coming and going. They were very willing to let me decorate as I saw fit, and for that I was grateful. We managed to make an absolutely lovely decoration in the bride's colors. But during the bridal shower we felt very rushed to proceed with our get together. At one point the woman walked in the midst of our party, interrupting us, and took a painting down off the wall, which she then returned to the cash register with to sell to someone. I found that incredibly rude. I understand that she has a business to run, but an 'Excuse me!' would have made it a bit less jarring. Finally, we weren't given a time limit on when we had to be finished by, so when we were still chatting (and had not even opened presents yet) the woman came in and asked if we wanted the cake cut up and separated out to give to guests as they were leaving. We were shocked, to say the least. It was obvious she was trying to get us to leave. The bride was incredibly offended, as were several of the guests. I myself was mortified that we, as a paying group, would be hustled out the door like that. To be fair, everything served was incredibly delicious and looked beautiful. They even went so far as to try and make it fun by letting us try on hats they had there. And the woman who was helping the woman that greeted me was incredibly sweet and helpful. But based on the way we were treated I will never return to that place and I dissuade all of my friends from going there either. I don't want them to be burned by the bad attitude and poor service of the people there either.

I just wanted to express the wonderful experience I had at Camellia's Sin yesterday. It was my first time attending a formal tea with one of my best friend's moms, and it was everything that I expected and more! Not only was the ambiance perfectly Victorian, but the food was beautifully prepared, presented on gorgeous antique china, and tasted delicious. Each course was well proportioned, and the order in which they served could not have been more appropriate. We stuck with Camellia's special blend tea, which I did end up buying a twelve-cup serving, but there were certainly many we could have picked. The service was top-notch as well, with our server always on top of things. She perfectly timed when to come over to refill our teacups, and she was there asking if everything was to our liking. She did not skip a beat. I would recommend Camellia's Sin to anyone who has at least an extra two hours to spend, who truly wants the experience of a traditional tea. The atmosphere was so relaxing, and I am sure that had something to do with the inspiring conversations we had. Thanks again for the wonderful time! It is truly a pleasure knowing someone knows how to get traditional tea right!

This teahouse is simply beautful. The decor is up there with the finest I've visited. I enjoyed the gift shop and the hats on display were wonderful. My only problem w/lunching at tea rooms is the amount of time I must devote out of my afternoon. The food was wonderful, I just covet that extra 45 minutes to an hour it takes to devour the little sandwiches and all the rest.My friends do not feel as I do on the time element, so perhaps I'm being too picky on this point.
