This place offers excellence from start to finish! The homemade soups are delicious and come with freshly baked bread sticks that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwiches are wonderful....My daughter won't go anywhere else for their roast beef and I can't order anyone else's chicken salad anymore without being disappointed. Even the little side pasta salad never remains on my plate as a decoration...it's slightly sweet with just enough tiny chopped veggies to give it texture. Their pies are homemade and if you try the ice cream for dessert you are certain to find pieces of real fruit in it! The service is just as wonderful...the owner is welcoming and delightful with a happy staff. I always feel refreshed after my visit. If you come at the right time, you can enjoy your tea or meal next to the warm cozy fire!

This tearoom tops them all. They brew a wonderful cup of tea! Which is, after all, the highlight of a Tea Room. Their foor is wickedly good and I just love their decor and ambience. I have always had ecellent service and I am quite plainly shocked at the opinions expressed in an earlier review. I have a hard time believing they were ever at The Pickwick.

2/19/10 This restaurant/tea room/ice cream parlour is a delight for anyone living in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Its highlights are the food, atmosphere and service, which are superb. Although the offerings for tea are limited, I still heartily recommend Annie's as a place for respite and calm. (I teach middle school; I DO know what I'm talking about here!)

I've been here a few times and I have always had a wonderful time. The setting is beautiful and the owner makes you feel truly welcome. I believe the other posted had a bad day

Worst tearoom I have ever been to. The food was terrible...I could not eat it. And I am really not a picky eater. Don't waste your time and your money!

When Annie's is on..they are good. I have visited Annie's many times. The food is hit and miss. A real 'tearoom' would not use Bigelow teabags. There is a choice oif teabags, but no real brewed tea. I have had a tea there and the food was okay, but nothing great. Also, I ordered ice cream in the winter, once, and it was freezer burned or something...something was wrong. Service is VERY slow when I have been there. I see otehrs have liked it, I just can't figure out why it's never good when I go. My mom loves, however. She loves the 'Benton Street' and I think it probably is the best thing on their menu.

We visited Annie's on a Saturday morning, the food was good. We would like to see brewed pots of tea offered in addition to teabags and hotwater. A bit more tea knowledge could give Annie's a boost in return business! We will return soon!

Annie's is a quiet cozy place to enjoy tea and conversation. Our group of 6 were treated like special friends from the moment we walked in the door. The tearoom is decorated very cute. We had the Victorian tea which offered 3 courses. The food has potential. The variety was exceptional. The quiche seemed watery and overcooked, however and the croissant sandwiches could use some spreads to liven them up a bit. With a little more attention to detail and freshness, Annie's could become one of the best kept secrets in the Crete area among tea goers.

annie's serves just what the name states...lunch, dinner, ice cream (for take out or sit in) and afternoon tea. and they serve it well. located in an old house that is a treasure. there is plenty of free street parking. an easy find. go straight south on western avenue, then east on exchange street and then south on benton for a half block. the front porch is large and is nice to sit out on when it is warm. you can sit out there to eat your ice cream or to have your tea served to you. lunch and dinner are served when open and afternoon tea is served by reservation. the ice cream parlor has some great choices. the interior is beautiful. hard wood floors, fireplace, butlers pantry etc.. as you enter the ice cream parlor is to your right while meals and tea are served in the two rooms to your left. as for the afternoon tea the tea cups and tea pots are lovely. there is a collection of them on the sideboard. cloth napkins and table cloths. tea is a selection of tea bags presented in a sundae dish with a pot of hot water. i had no trouble getting them to put the bags into a pre-warmed tea pot and having the water added that way. the tea food was fresh, tasty, beautifully presented and plentiful. i ordered the afternoon tea for one and got enough food for two people. while the menu is seasonal i got sandwiches, meatballs, scones, cookies, tea cakes, ice cream, chocolate etc.. nice staff. nice owners. clean, bright, cheerful. they expect to open up the back yard / porch area for serving when the weather permits. go you will love it

We had a lovely luncheon at this tea room. Because our group of nine wanted the high tea we made the reservations in advance. A friendly Annie made us feel like we were having tea in her cozy home. Presentation, preparation, service -- all get five stars. While dining lavishly we did take note of what other patrons were receiving for their lunch choices. Again, everyone seemed to be enjoying their choices from the menu that were served with great presentation. Age range of our group was 20 something and up with everyone agreeing that they would return,

I am so happy they have finally opened in their new location. The tearoom is so quaint and the service was wonderful. The owner Nancy was so pleasant and Mel my waitress couldn't have been nicer. I only stopped for a quick cuppa but their menu offerings looked delicious with new items and many of their old standards available. Congratulations on the move to bigger and much more attractive space.
