Located in the historic Cloyd Cabin (circa 1783) in scenic Botetourt County, you will find our tearoom to be a place where you can simply unwind and refresh yourself. Whether you are perusing the daily paper, browsing our ecclectic and appointed gift shop, or relishing time with friends, you will find that the only dilemma you face is choosing which tea to try next! We offer a simple, but fabulous menu including freshly baked Organic Bagels and hot Bagel Sandwiches with gourmet organic cream cheeses. (Choose from such bagels as Spinach & Roasted Garlic, Sundried Tomato & Herb, Apple-Cranberry, and more.) New to the menu are our 'Paesano' chicken salads: Choose a Baked Spinach-Artichoke Chicken Salad with parmesan cheese stuffed in a bread bowl, or our Cranberry-Almondine Chicken Salad with toasted pecans. I came to the Tavern with my daughter for Mother's Day and it was fab! We enjoyed our visit and the atmosphere was wonderful. Very good food and tea choices. I would recommend the tavern based upon this visit. In fact I have already made reservations for this Saturday so my Mother and I can enjoy some time together. Parking is the only concern but with limited acreage = limited space.

I discovered White Oak Tea Tavern a year ago and have been several times since. I have to drive over an hour to get there, but have taken the advise on the website to make reservations and have always been served. The food is good and the tea is great! My husband even likes it. I am going tomorrow and have a list of tea to purchase from friends who I have introduced to the place but can't go this time. I recommend it!

We had visited this charming tea room several times in past years, always enjoying the limited but excellent menu items, and absolutely loving the tea! Great selection of teas for purchase. Our last visit (Dec. '14) had us waiting for over 2 hrs at a table for service (we had reservations), and we left 4 hrs later--satisfied with the food and tea purchases, but vowing never to return. (We had driven over an hour to get there, and kept thinking that surely we'd be served something eventually. Should have left.) Friends had a comparable disappointment, and nearly as long a wait, several months later. If you're in the area, stop by to purchase tea or charming gifts from the storefront. do NOT spend time or money on food, with or without reservations.

Absolutely loved this place. Adorable and the best chicken salad I have ever eaten. I was traveling and stopped out of curiosity. I ordered my food to go and the staff was wonderfully accommodating. My only suggestion? Coffee! I am not a tea drinker but love a great cup of coffee.

Like another reviewer I also drove more than an hour to get here only to be turned away for not having a reservation. Top that with not being able to park near the building and poor signage as to where to park in the overflow and it took us about 10 minutes to get to the front door from our car. My wife is handicapped and getting her near the door was difficult. You need signs in the overflow as to where to park. I was concerned about being towed from the construction company lot in the back. Nowhere on your website does it indicate that a reservation is needed. Why not avoid conflict and losing customers and be courteous enough to post this information. I wouldn't have expected this much activity at a gift shop/tea house of all places. You could have warned us. The other issue is hours. A banner was prominent on the building that hours had changed. It takes an effort to print and hang a banner. Changing a few lines on a website takes very little effort - why not keep it up to date? The inside of the place is cute, but very difficult to move around. Not particularly safe easy for people with disabilities. My family and I had hoped to enjoy our day here, but hardly had a chance to shop let alone eat. The bad impression will keep us and our friends away in the future.

I drove almost 1 hour to have lunch, only to find out they would not take a table of 2 because we did not have a reservation. Nowhere on the menu does it say to make reservations. Cute shop and very busy.

I have been to White Oak many times over the last few years with my daughters and friends. It is always wise to make reservations because it is becoming so popular. We love the sweet, friendly service, the quaint atmosphere, and the yummy teas. We each buy a small pot of tea and share. Therefore, we have tried many of them. In fact, I am sipping some loose-leaf Darjeeling (Christmas present) from there as I write. The scones, bagels and chicken salad are incredible. I am a very happy customer.

Ive visited the tea tavern several times and have always made a reservation. the last time even tho i made a reservation had to stand and wait over an hour, This was not pleasant especially when i had my elder mother with me. There was no where to sit and wait and was never offerd. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth and we have not been back since this experience.

We have visited the White Oak Tea Tavern three times in the past few months. It is absolutely delightful. The food and tea are both out of this world. The staff is so very friendly and helpful. We took our daughter and her two friends for her seventh birthday party/tea and the staff made their tea very special. I crave their chicken salad, both the hot and cold, on a daily basis. Can't say enough good things about this wonderful establishment!

Called a couple hours b/4 lunch (on 5/14/10) to see if they could 'fit us in' - had heard about the bread they served. Owner was gracious and said she'd make room for us. Expectations were high and were not unmet. Food was awesome (bread is unbelievable & baked on site so it's hot when served!) - tea, both cold and hot were fantastic. Still enjoying teas purchased and heading back with other friends in July for a girlfriend road trip. Great experience - you will not be let down!

The salads were delicious and the presentation of the food was awesome. The teas were wonderful--the buttered rum was fantastic. The summer blend that was brewed and served over ice was refreshing. The gift shop of teas and related tea items was very stocked and fun to look over the different items. It would be worth a day trip just to go to the Tea Tavern. Truly a unique experience that I will stop by to enjoy again when in the area.

For the past two years, we've spent most Saturday's at White Oak, sipping Wild Blueberry and Lemon Mango teas, nibbling on the hot and cold chicken salads, and relaxing after a long week. The tea and the chicken salad tastes every bit as delicious now as on our first visit! But the real magic of White Oak is the atmosphere. Kim and her staff create a stress-free, relaxing atmosphere perfect for an intimate moment with your mate, a jolly good conversation with your best friends, or a reflective retreat with a great book. A truly unique experience awaits - enjoy!

This is definately an experience not be be missed! The property is enchanting and the staff is not pretentious, they make you feel at home. I will be back on my next visit to the NRV. They apparently listen to positive feedback, because there was no telly in the dining area, and soft music created a calming background to the teahouse experience. I enjoyed the herbal mint tea and the warm chicken salad a treat! The charming giftshop is an enjoyable place to explore if you are waiting to be seated.:D

The charm and wonderful food continue to draw me back to the White Oak Tea Tavern again and again. My daughter recently came home for a visit--her first request was to go to the White Oak Tea Tavern. The chilled chicken salad is extraordinary. I really like CSG's idea of period music.

Wonderful service***** Excellent FOOD! The gift shop is so fun...something for everyone!!! The only suggestion for improvement would be to remove the TV, it really spoils the atmosphere. The TV is a distraction and doesn't fit the decor. I see the Tea Tavern as a place to get away from the news of the world. I would suggest some music from the period in which the cabin was built (circa 1783).

My wife and I (and 16 year old son!) are weekend regulars at White Oak. The only sure way to soothe one's nerves after a frazzled week of work is a wonderful pot of hot Wild Blueberry tea and a hearty plate of chicken salad. The variety of teas and the great food are reason enough to visit, but truly, the ambience - from the restored log cabin to the comfortable reading chairs to the relaxing background music - puts the mind and body at ease. Jennifer and Scott and Carol and Dayna create an oasis of good cheer each time we visit.

What a lovely experience! The dining area with its 18th century charm complete with old beams, log walls, and stone firplace provides the perfect backdrop for the outstanding menu of fine teas and other delectables! The chicken salads are worth remembering -- not the same, predictable varieties typically offered at other cafes and lunch spots. The teas are custom blend and brewed to perfection. Seasonal varieties keep the tavern fresh year round! The service is impecable -- expect to meet and chat with White Oak's owner and visionary, the multi-talented Jennifer Aylor! But beware, you have to pass through the gift area on your way in and out, and I challenge you to escape without buying something from it's elegant collection of fine teas and tea accessories, exceptional bath & body products, and other unique gift items. Even my husband loves this place! Come on by and see for yourself!

I took my 5-year-old to this tavern as a reward for finishing her reading primer. Within a short time, she had declared it her 'favorite tea house ever.' The atmosphere is charming and the food was truly outstanding! I especially like the house's emphasis on organic and all-natural foods and you can tell by just tasting it that this is part of what makes the menu truly gourmet. We found the service to be attentive and the price to be much more reasonable than another local tea house--about $18 for both of us, and there was more than enough food and tea to go around! We will definitely be coming back again!
