I usually do not give negative reviews but I was so disappointed with the owners I behooves me not to. I made a reservation for a party of 9 for Mother's Day.Before leaving home I called on the day to confirm my reservation. The owner Karen answered and when I gave her my name said that I did no reservation in the name. I told her it was fir 2:30 and could she please check again. She said the only reservation she had was at 3 pm. I was a bit confused and distressed and I explained to her I made the reservation myself. She said I would have spoken to her and she did not remember speaking to me so I was not correct. I told her that I did speak with her and she was the one that took my reservation. She finally agreed to check again and once again asked my name. Then she said yes she had it and it is at 2:30 we have connection so she could not understand me. I understood her the entire conversation so there was no bad connection on my end . However if this was true for her she was never apologetic in the least. I am also a small business owner and I know that I always put the customer first or there would be no business. I thought perhaps she would apologize when I got there since the connection was poor and she could not do it over the phone. Her husband was the one that seated us and though she helped to serve she never once acknowledged me. After some though I decided not to say anything as well because it may have upset my day. To be fair the husband was accommodating to us but it was my first visit and definitely my last. I hoped for a better experience becasue I tell my staff about growing up on an island that was once a British colony and how much I enjoyed going to tea with my mother who recently passed. I t was my intention to bring my staff one for them to have the experience and that will happen just not at Aylesbury tea room. The decor was quite charming though and the only other recommendation I have is that they put a table and few chairs with an umbrella outside so one can sit while waiting for there reservation. The place is small and we arrived early so we had to stand outside with no shade while we waited. Also, compare to the teas I'm accustomed to I found the food to be average.

This tea room is NOT defunct. I just made reservations for tea at Aylesbury for the end of March and very much looking forward to it. This will be my third visit to Aylesbury and I've always had a delightful time. Just wanted to set the record straight.

I've been to the Aylesbury several times and was taken with the quaint and welcoming decor, the variety of tea and the food. Twice I went with friends w/o a reservation and the owner seated us upstairs, which required a lot more energy from the server. But she got the tea and treats to us while the pot was still hot, didn't forget about us when we wanted refills, and was quite cheerful despite the trips up and down those steep steps. All in all, we had a lovely time, esp in winter when the rooms are cozy and warm. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Of the many tea rooms that I have visited, the is was by far the worst. I made reservations for noon a month in advance for a party of 11. We were made aware upon our arrival that there was a children's party beginning at 2 and we should we gone by then. Only two types of tea were offered; regular and decaf. The sandwiches were tasteless, the scones were good and the desserts were average, nothing special. We had to keep asking for more tea and rarely did anyone come check in us to see if we needed anything. One person in our group asked for ice water and was told that she could have cold water in a rather short tone. They did let us pay individually; however, I was the last to pay and I got stuck with the gratuity for our entire party even though I heard my friends ask if they needed to pay gratuity and the young girl at the cash register told them 'no, gratuity was included'. What she failed to mention is that gratuity was included in my check only! I was very disappointed in my visit to this tea room.

Visited Aylesbury Tea Room with some friends for afternoon tea. The atmosphere and decor was very bright and cheerful! I thoroughly enjoyed my tea, my yummy tea sandwiches, the scones were to die for with cream and preserves and the desserts topped off a delightful experience with friends. The staff was so nice and friendly! Highly recommend!

I was in town for a few days and thought taking tea would be a wonderful idea. I called the telephone number to this tea room and was graciously given a reservation for tea time. Within fifteen minutes I was on my way to this quaint establishment. Upon our arrival we received a warm inviting welcome. We were seated promptly and within five minutes Mother and I enjoyed a perfectly steeped pot of tea. OBSERVATIONS: Tea selection is limited to the house tea. Desserts are lacking (store bought). HUGE scones that were fluffy and soooo delightful came with a generous serving of clotted cream and preserves. We enjoyed our tea time very much. The gift shop has something for tea novice and the seasoned tea lover. Everyone was so pleasant, this made our tea time more enjoyable. Super Thanks!

Attended a party here just this past weekend. What a wonderful place! Great tea and delicious scones and a real old-world Holiday spirit. I had no idea such a place existed in the DC area.

This is a wonderful place to visit. They have the most excellent scones, and I could be satisfied with just those and the Yorkshire tea. I have been there numerous times, and recently with a group, and full afternoon tea is also a delight - fresh sandwiches, fruit, and sweets. They do not rush, so you have time to relax and enjoy. Then when you have done, you have a fun store to browse for just the right memento to take home. I highly recommend Aylesbury.

My children and I visit this tea room on a regular basis. It is part of an antique shop, so it has an old country ambiance. The hostesses treat you like good friends, and the food they prepared is just delightful. Their home-made scones are velvety and exquisite! Yorkshire regular and decaf teas are served there in the tea room. However, other types of teas are also available for purchase in the shop.

Wonderful, authentic tea room. Food was fantastic and service was very friendly. Owners are from England. Everything tasted amazing, esp. the scones.

The ladies here were warm and delightful. I loved the decor too. My best friend and I just had a wonderful experience here on our girls day out. I can't wait to take my Mom here in just a few weeks. The scones are a must! I agree with a fellow reviewer that more needs to be put on the tiers but what was offered was simply 'yummy.' I would highly recommend this establishment to a friend. Just take the day and enjoy Leesburg, tea, and antique shopping. I could have spent most of our day here at the tea room though and been happy as can be!

This is a 'real' English teashop. Small, unpretentious, cheerful and welcoming atmosphere. A limited selection of tea but they know how to prepare a good pot of tea. Something other teashops should concentrate on instead of offering a long list of teas that have been badly stored and even worse incorrectly prepared! The food is fresh, simply prepared but delicious especially the scones. The service was friendly efficient but not intrusive. My friend and I had not seen each other for a long time and had lots of catching up to do. Not once were we made to feel rushed. I would definitely return to the Aylesbury Tea Room and would highly recommend fellow British ex-pats to visit. You'll feel like you were back-home.

Enjoyed this tea room and location. Needed a little more food on the tiers. What was provided was very good but there was not quite enough food for three people.

One of the best tea rooms in the area, delightful ambience and good, very reasonably priced food. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. We hope to return often. We also enjoyed the antique shop very much.

We have visited many tea rooms in England, and were delighted to find this wonderful rendition of an authentic English tea room near my Sister's house in Leesburg, VA. The scones were the best I have ever had and the Tea and goodies were delicious. Highly recommended!

My daughter, my friend and I went there on a rainy Friday and had an absolutely delightful time. The house tea is my personal favorite, Yorkshire, and the food was delicious--the scones were the best I've had on this side of the Atlantic. We felt so cozy and pampered that we ended up staying for quite a long while, but the hostess never rushed us out or made us feel unwelcome. Lovely place for tea!

The tea was lovely, I liked that they offered a 'house tea', a traditional tea from England but it was mentioned that there were several other teas to choose from if we wanted something else. The setting is precious, quaint but not overboard. The tea-pot warmers are adorable. The food was fine but both my mom and I thought there was way too much sweet offered and not enough savory. I think the owner would also be wise to also offer a small salad or soup for those that show up a little hungrier.

I attended a Bridal Shower at this tea room so the tea and food was already selected. The service was outstanding and the sandwiches, scones and petit fours were realy delicious; I especially enjoyed the Devonshire cream. Although this place is a litte far for me, I think it's worth another visit! :)

What a delightful afternoon. The scones were wonderful, the sandwiches quite tasty (thanks for no salmon!!), and the sweets were yummy. I enjoyed the tea, but was surprised there wasn't a selection to choose from. I would definitely return.

My neighbor and I visited the tearoom for the first time last week. The atmosphere and service at the tearoom was absolutely delightful. The food was another story. When I visit a tearoom it is always considered a treat. I do not expect to have tea sandwiches of american cheese & tomato and shaved ham from the deli department. The sweets appeared to be all prepackaged urchases from the super market. I will not return for a second visit.

      Tearoom response:

Thank You for your kind compliment regarding our service and atmosphere. We are so sorry that you felt that the food items did not equal the excellent service and delightful atmosphere you experienced. Actually, we do use imported English Cheddar in our sandwiches, and thinly sliced ham is the proper way to serve an English Tea sandwich. We serve our own freshly baked scones every day and all of our sweets are either imported or home-made.
