THIS PLACE IS CLOSED ACCORDING TO THEIR WEBSITE, A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THE ADDRESS REVEALS THERE IS A NEW BUSINESS THERE - A RESTAURANT, NOT A TEA HOUSE.

My husband and I were to dinner with friends a couple of Friday nights ago. Our dinner was fabulous! I had beef tenderloin & my husband had shortribs. Both were prepared perfectly with tasty sides that were different on both our plates. Dessert; out of this world. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience.

The 'Tea' served here used to be fabulous. New owners? We visited in November and were so unhappy with the entire experience. The woman who greeted us acted like she wished we would go away. The food was lackluster. Cut up brown sandwiches with boring, scant filling. Boo hoo.

We went to the special Christmas tea - one of the most expensive terrible experiences at a restaurant. We waited at our table for 45 minutes before we could get any service and then the server was really hostile, saying that they were really busy. The event was amazingly disorganized for an annual event that requires advance reservations. I felt so terribly embarrassed that I had invited a friend and her daughter to go with us to such a costly and disappointing experience.

Excellent service - fun and helpful. Tea was steeped perfectly and food very tasty. Good portions as well. Atmosphere is victorian for sure, but casual and comfortable enough for men. Highly recommend.

LOVE this spot! Dined with my mom, old friends, and 4 young daughters and it was a perfect afternoon. Great food, a really nice variety of teas, and excellent service. We'll be back!

My best friend and I come here often and consider it our special 'girls only' place. The best food, service, decor and ambiance available in the local area. This is a truely exceptional experience. I highly recommend it!

I was in the Fresno area and decided to check out Victoria Rose Cottage for lunch. I had seen it on California Gold on PBS television this past year and was looking forward to a wonderful lunch. I was delighted. Not only was the food wonderful, but it is the most beautiful restaurant I have seen in the valley. I was also treated to a holiday fashion show. What a delightful find. It's on my list of favorites from now on. Great dining!

Dined at Victoria Rose Cottage today with family visiting for the holidays. WOW! What a fantastic experience! Food was wonderful, staff was very friendly and decor is amazing! I would highly recommend it and it quickly became my favorite local restaurant. Do yourself a favor and visit during the holidays. Beautiful!

Expensive and the food was just average. The people in the gift shop are not very helpful and are sometimes just plain rude. Most of my friends stopped going there. I now order my tea online and go to Hazels Cafe in Tulare for their high tea.

This is my favorite tea room to visit when I am in the area. Everything is wonderful, the food, the decor and the staff. I feel so pampered and relaxed. Can't wait to spend my birthday tea at The Victoria Rose Cottage! Wish they were closer to my home. Well worth the drive!

I have been to Victoria Rose Cottage several times now. I was there for brunch this past Sunday and will be there this coming Sunday with another group of friends. As for the food, it is truly excellent. The scones are to die for, and the Devonshire Creme and lemon curd are out of this world. The Lobster Cakes are indescribable. You really have to taste them. I LOVE the Victorian decor, which is expecially beautiful at Christmastime. The servers are wonderful and do their best to make the experience memorable. This is definitely one of my favorite establishments, an oasis of gentility and charm. I hope it continues to provide delightful experiences for many years to come!

The Victorian Rose if definitely a treat for all of your senses! It will amaze your eyes, and satisfy your palate. The exterior is exquisite as is the interior. The attention to detail was impressive, from the beaded draperies to the window shade pulls made from silver spoons. The food was wonderful! We started our meal with wonderful scones followed by a lovely green salad, accompanied by plenty of hot and aromatic tea. The almond biscotti was amazing as was the creme brulee tea. We were then served warm savories and a cornucopia of tea sandwiches on a beautiful three tiered silver tray. We finished our afternoon tea with a decadent dessert made from a dark chocolate bowl filled with custard and topped with fresh raspberries, yummy! I must also comment on Elaine and her awesome staff, they are incredible. Personable and dedicated to ensuring that each of their guests were given personal attention from the food to browsing or shopping their lovely store. (I was serenaded by the staff with a happy birthday song, candle & all) I am planning having tea here again at Christmas. I know it will be delightful. Mitzy

I was shocked when I read the comment below. I have been to Victoria Rose several times and I have always found the service to be excellent. Not only were the staff dressed beautiful and very victorian but they were sweet and smiled and made us feel very welcome. As for the food I thought it was delicious and I loved how there was an edible orchid on every plate that was served. The ambience is amazing. It is VERY victorian, but then again it is called Victoria Rose Cottage. It felt as if we had stepped back in time and it was a nice getaway from the every day life monotony. I found it to be very beautiful, peaceful and charming.

i came for a baby shower(which may have been the problem), but i was not very pleased with my experience. the place with stuffy and so 'over victorianized' to me. there were quite a few women waiting on it, but they were unattentive, gave most of us half a cup of tea and took forever, or didn't come back at all when we asked for something. it was not that busy, so i'm not sure what was up, but it was an iffy experience. i wouldn't come again unless invited for an even. even then i'd think twice. i'll stick to my smaller, less formal place in pasadena.

Wow! Victoria Rose Cottage has the most beautiful Victorian decor I have ever seen in a restaurant. Much like some of their other customers, I also have traveled in London and Bath, England; Victoria, BC; and many tearooms in American cities. This one is at the top of the list as my favorite. It is truly what I look for is a tearoom; yummy food, beautiful decor, excellent service and as an added treat, special events that look to be very entertaining. I was there for brunch today only to discover they have their own certified etiquette consultant. They were holding a graduation tea for their most recent students. We were impressed! We'll also be back again and again.

This is by far the best tea room I have visited. I travel over two hours in each direction to experience the elegant Victorian surroundings, the delicious tea served by a helpful and accommodating staff (Frances makes the best scones in the world), the graciousness and cheerfulness of Elaine, the owner, who makes you feel welcome and special. Everything about the Victoria Rose Cottage is wonderful, even the music chosen for your enjoyment. I've been all around the U.S. visiting tea rooms. Even the Ritz in London doesn't do it this well. You must visit this tea room, if not for tea, then for their other delicious lunches and special events. I plan to return many times to be taken back to another era of elegant dining. A true gem!!!

Victoria Rose Cottage....wow. Simply wow. I went there last night for Valentines Day. I never have felt more warmth from a restaurant. It was so romantic, simply like walking into a romantic dream. During the meal our server was more then gracious and the food was INPECABLE, everyone ate every bit on their plate (and we all almost popped at the amount of it too). I cannot believe that it is in Clovis and is affordable. I felt the comfort of being at home there, and I didn't really want to leave. I looked in the gift shop at all their unique Victorian items. They also sell their gourmet teas! They have so many different varieties from Rose teas to caramel to chocolate! I never thought chocolate tea would be good, but their chocolate raspberry truffle is now my favorite! We also got a traditional tea (Darjeeling) and we were told that the leaves were vintage top notch, of the highest quality. It is as if their tea selection just as unique and intricate as wine would be to a wine lover. When it was about time to leave, it actually made me feel a bit sad! It seemed the whole table was stalling with their wine and tea, just to savor in the atmosphere for as long as we all could. Upon leaving, I know I will be back, many a time. Melissa

THIS TEA ROOM IS UNBELIEVABLE! IT IS LOCATED IN AN OLD VICTORIAN HOUSE. WHEN YOU WALK IN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'VE STEPPED BACK IN TIME..TO ANOTHER ERA. THE INTERIOR OF THIS RESTAURANT IS INCREDIBLE! ALL THE SERVERS WEAR VICTORIAN STYLE DRESSES AND WEAR ANTIQUE HATS. THE FOOD IS SOOO..GOOD.I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING YET THAT I DIDN'T LIKE. I COULD EAT THERE EVERYDAY. THE SERVICE IS GREAT.THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE. WHEN I GO I FIND THAT I WANT TO STAY FOR HOURS THE ATMOSPHERE IS SO RELAXING AND CALMING. AND THE DESERTS ARE TO DIE FOR.

This is truely one of my favorite places to dine! Not only have my husband and I had the fabulous sunday brunch, but the dinners are absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the Chicken Victoria. My husband has a hearty appitite and he has never left there hungry. The service is impecable and the decor stunning. It has a wonderful charm that I have not seen anywhere else. This is undeniably the gem of Old Town!

One of my favorite new, gorgeous decor and amazing food restaurants is the Victoria Rose Cottage in Old Town Clovis. Picture old world Victorian glamour - ladies in hats and lovely Victorian dresses serving marvelous teas with fine china and well stocked plates of glorious salads and exquisite sandwiches. I am quite fond of the chicken and chutney sandwich on a buttery croissant and the Cobb salad with beautiful avocado and bacon. The soups are also the best I have ever had. My favorite deserts hands down are cheesecake (the deserts are made fresh every morning unlike other fine dining restaurants that bring in pre-made deserts - the melt in your mouth difference is huge) and the orange cake with rum sauce (I actually shed a tear over this one). As well, I love to watch groups of people enjoying their lunches in the restaurant - from birthdays to baby showers to bridal showers and more. This restaurant is so much fun to just hang out in or to just grab a quick lunch and a few minutes rest time from a busy world. The service for me has always been wonderful and I find the sweet waitresses to be great to chat with if even for a few minutes. Is now the time to let you know I never liked tea that much in the first place? But then the owner introduced me to the difference between tasteless tea (ho-hum) and gourmet tea (oh wow). Now I dream of the Paris tea and the Chocolate Hazlenut tea and sometimes I do 'tea' take out because I need my tea fix. Thanks again to the wonderful owners who risked a dream to make my food (and tea) dreams come true.

My friend and I went to this tea house when it first opened up. The food was delicous and the decor lovely. However, one of the owners/manager was showing some people around the tea house and being very loud while we were sitting right there having our tea. It was a large group and they never sat down to eat - just wandered around. Ummm - you couldn't do this before or after hours? It was also very pricey for Clovis. For two people - the afternoon tea came to over $60 with tip. I have been to tea houses all over California - and this was on the high end. I would give this tea house another chance only because the food was VERY good and the decor truly special. But I would caution the owner/manager to treat people respectfully and graciously at all times.
