The gramstand is a tea caf and store, providing East Villagers with modern day retreat that invites conversation, relaxation, and an opportunity to experience the healthy lifestyle associated with tea. With a variety of seats inviting you to cozy up with your laptop or a friend, Zen-like industrial design, and the relaxing vibrations of an ever-rotating music collection (feel free to make a request!), the gramstand provides patrons with the atmosphere that makes you feel a member of the family. The gramstand menu features over 50 types of traditional and exotic teas, each handpicked and blended by the owner, Richard (one of the youngest tea connoisseurs, perfecting his art at the Wild Lily Tearoom and the Tea Association), and the menu continues to grow. Fresh snacks and sandwiches are also available for those who come hungry. Featuring a special fast-brew process, all drinks are available to-go, and all tea is available for purchase to take home and brew your own. Signature drinks include a pear hibiscus tea that changes color as you drink it, a lychee white tea, a Mocha Earl Grey with whipped cream and chocolate, and the infamous Citrus Berry, whose ice cubes are made of tea and have honey inside for a sweet surprise. Never fear, coffee drinkers; the gramstand also serves 'darn good coffee,' so tea and coffee drinkers can exist in harmony. Keep an eye out for customers hanging out with the friendly staff of brewers or surfing the web (the gramstand features free wi-fi for all customers), as well as a rotating collection of art showcasing some of the finest up-and-coming artists in the city.

I'm frustrated by the qualitative review options given to me. I like this place. It is truly a cool place, what Starbucks tries to imitate. Gramstand has two floors with plenty of seating in the form of both chairs and couches and is a great place to hang out. The staff has always been very friendly. I'm a bit ashamed to admit I've only had there iced teas, which are mentioned in the overview and are quite good, and so I cannot give an honest opinion about their more traditional tea selection and preparation. There food offering is pretty limited, but you're in the East Village, so walk to any of the dozen amazing places within 5 blocks and bring something back with you. Also of note: they have plenty of distractions that take the form of Etch-A-Sketch's, Jenga, etc.

if you find the right counter person, they actually have and know way more about tea than it initially appears. they are more brew masters than anything else. they have a very fun selection of house concocted brews that seem very labor intensive to make. it's worth the trip. these guys are doing good things for getting fine tea to the underserved tea drinkers and non-tea drinker alike.

I love this little spot in the East Village....it's a great place to study or chat with friends. As someone who doesn't know a lot about tea but enjoys a good beverage, I loved the Gramstand's Modern Brews. The Mocha Grey Latte is AMAZING.

I love this place. The people who work there are always friendly and welcoming. The relaxed vibe is refreshing and unpretentious and of course the tea selection is fantastic. Try the 'Proper Chai'. Great for a quick stop or to catch up with friends.

This budding modern tea cafe is a welcomed respite in the Union Square area. The minimal decor, chill tunes & free wifi are sure to draw a hip younger crowd. Their quality teas and lack of pretention are sure to please everyone.

It's difficult to find a place that serves really good iced AND hot. These guys do! 'TeaVip' and I just got back from there. (What a lame username.)

all around a good experience. cool place to hang-out. amazingly fast teas to-go... made to order. they just opened, but some of the most unique drinks i've seen lately. if the owner is in, he'll also dig-up your favorite tea if its not on the menu.
