Pennington House B&B and Tea Parlor (2 reviews)
This B & B and tea room closed in 2013.
I would rate this place as 'oh my Gosh-good!' Scrumptious! Intoxicating! Wonderful! Just a few words to describe today. The Tea room has the most unexpected gourmet food youll ever have. Our Husbands & my Brother joined us. They ordered The Sausage-Apple, Sauerkraut Spatzel.' With in seconds, a small taste for everyone, turned into a mad feeding frenzy. We ordered more, but they were all out (because we showed up late). So get there early! Our chit chat about our friends new life in Iowa suddenly turned into an exciting buzz, and then a loud roar of all of our meals just received and how good they were. My Blueberry Scone magically jumped off of the cover of 'Country-Living' magazine, because no one really bakes like that for a living. My friend's husband ordered the last piece of Peach Pie (his Mother in Law called ahead & reserved a slice just for him). It tasted like part cheese cake/pie- I never got to taste it was gone so fast. So, get there early! The staff was very accommodating by sharing recipes with us, and getting us more of everything they had left. I normally don't drink coffee, but they offered chocolate mousse coffee, & I said yes, & was glad. With lunch, I had the 'California-Iced Tea' which was farm fresh fruit juices and tea. Mmmm! Did I mention: Get there early? I bought a recipe book. They let us take a tour of the Inn top to bottom. By the way, this historic, gorgeous, Victorian Inn is worth the drive just to see, but the food is amazing in comparison. A local photographer shows up occasionally to do photo shoots. He came the day we were there. Its like a side show (entertainment free). So the lesson for the class is: 1). Get there early! 2).Order 2 of everything. 3). repeat steps 1&2.
