We make tea a time of sheer beauty, quality and excellence. We desire to create a peaceful, tranquil memory each time you dine in our formal tea room. Light fare such as soups, salads, tea sandwiches, scones and pastries are elegantly served on china with silver, crystal and candlelight. We serve an array of flavorful loose leaf tea which we hope you'll slowly sip while enjoying pleasant conversation or simply relax alone. You're welcome to borrow one of our classic novels and escape reality in the solace of the British Bell.

I enjoy visiting this tea room,My only complaint is, either not returning phone calls upon requesting a resservation or, you know they are still open and they don't pick up, or return calls the same day.So you don't know wether you should just wait and wait for a call,or go somewhere else.Thank you

I will never return to this establishment. The staff treated us rudely because we had a baby in tow and was afraid that we would disturb the other guests. Ironically, there were other young children there, one of which was standing on a chair leaning over the table, but I guess that is welcomed. She asked if we wouldn't mind leaving the premises IF the baby started to cry. We left the premises all right! Ruined my entire lunch hour. I wouldn't take my dog to this place!

I have visited the British Bell several times. Each time, I was greeted with a smile and received courteous service. The menu offers many choices, however I always order High Tea. The soup is always excellent, the sandwhiches delicious and the treats...well....very tasty. The presentation is beautiful and the decor in the room is very inviting. Always a pleasure to visit and never disappointed!!

My party of three was unanimous in delighting in every aspect of our visit to the British Bell Tea Room. The service was attentive and cheerfully given. The decor alone is a reason to visit British Bell. Though its location in a humble strip mall is unpromising, once inside you would believe you were in an old-world establishment. Every time we travel, we look for a tea room to visit and so we know what to expect. We have never seen so much tea. The pots are huge and each one sits on its own warmer. It never gets cold. Those scones? They were maybe a little hard. But everyone found them wonderfully filling. The Italian Wedding soup was outstanding.

This was our second trip to British Bell and while the first trip was enjoyable, this trip bordered on awful! Our waitress was non attentive, had to chase for ice water, silverware and finally the check. The food was not nearly as good as last time. My tea, vanilla cream, over brewed, the sandwiches were mediocre at best scone was overbaked and hard as a rock, and the quiche was way overdone. The final insult was waiting almost ten minutes to pay the bill while the gentleman continued with a phone call not paying attention to the three people in line waiting to pay then finally said in a really disgusted tone: 'I have to go'. Not very good service!

The British Bell Tea Room's location is somewhat obscure. It is among several establishments; but not far from the cinema. Once you enter the British Bell you are met with a treasure trove of wonderful tea gifts. Personally, self-control eluded me. One shopping spree and I purchased gifts for all of my tea time friends. Thomas, our server, had a servants heart. He made sure that our tea time was magnificent. We brought to his attention an item that was served that needed attention. He quickly remedied the matter. The tea tier treats were delightful. The pumpkin scone was the best that I have had thus far. It was flavorful, flakey and the texture was just right. Dawn, the hostess/owner was so graceful. She assured me that my mother, who has alzheimers, would not be a problem. She made every effort to make our tea time enjoyable. The atmosphere was comfortable the classical music added a special touch. There is one challenge/pet-peeve NO paper napkins please. With everything else being near perfect the paper napkins was the glitch. I highly recommend this tea venue.

visited today for my daughter's 21st birthday; I have been here several times before. The tea room is lovely inside and service was excellent. The bread sticks served with soup or salad with high tea are excellent, as is their signature turkey sausage roll. You get to select 3 of 6 traditional sandwiches, egg salad, cucumber, salmon, roast beef, chicken or tuna salad. All very good; not extraordinary. The desserts were superb, and choice of 3 types of scones were also excellent. I will definitely be back, but would love to see some new surprises with the sandwiches; perhaps something new and different occasionally for the return customers. If you've not been here before, it is worth the visit; I travelled from MD and was not disappointed.

My daughter and granddaughter surprised me with a treat to an Afternoon Tea at the British Bell Teahouse. It was absolutely lovely! I actually wrote a whole article about it on my website: http://suburbangrandma.com/culture/the-british-bell-tea-room-%E2%80%93-mother-daughter-granddaughter-outing/

Beautiful atomosphere, great attention to every detail. I had the high tea and it was wonderful, everything was delicious. I brought my daughter as a special treat on her 10th birthday. She had the tinkerbell tea and loved pouring her own pink lemonade from the teapot. She had a special request for her tea sandwiches and the owner sent her son to the store to accomodate her. We had a nice afternoon and can't wait to return.

My sister-in-law and I enjoyed Afternoon Tea at The British Bell on Saturday. I delight in bringing friends and family to this lovely tearoom. This was my fifth visit. Our tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets were delicious. The lemon-blueberry scones were exceptional. Our server was most gracious. I look forward to many more pleasant times with special friends at The British Bell.

In a phrase, I would describe The British Bell as 'elegant but not stuffy'. The selection of teas was massive, and the various tea pots were absolutely beautiful. All the food was delicious, but I would give special mention to the chicken salad and the oragne-crnaberry scones. Absolutley delicious! The service was excellent.

This tea room is so elegant and beautiful. Once you are inside, you can easily believe yourself in a Victorian dining room...The service is attentive and professional, the food good and the tea service is perfect, with strainers and sugar cubes and everything 'comme il faut'. I can't believe they just recently opened. The scones (especially the chocolate chip) are to die for. I hope this tea room is around for a long time!

I took my boyfriend's mother after she needed some much needed down time and we both decided that it was one of the most lovely places we've ever been. The selections of teas is wonderful and there's something for everyone. Dishes are beautiful and the tea room itself is beautifully decorated. Perfect for anyone, any age with an apriciation for tea and sophistication.

I hosted an 80th birthday party for my mother at British Bell and was delighted with the experience. The entire staff couldn't have been more pleasant. The elegant private room was truly lovely. We ordered a wide variety of teas and each was plentiful and perfectly prepared. The food was delicious. All of the guests raved, and my mother said it was the best party she ever had--quite a compliment after celebrating 80 of them. Thanks to everyone at British Bell for making this celebration so special.

What a lovely experience! The beautiful decor, the amazing service and the presentation of the food were all exceptional. If I could grade the scones, there would have to be a grade better excellent. I will be back.

This tea room is going to be FANTASTIC one of these days, unfortunately they are brand new and that day has yet to come. But stay tuned because their hearts are in the right place! What gorgeous decor! The room is beyond tasteful, I thought I was in an elegant hotel for afternoon tea! The service, after a blip or two seating us (we did have a reservation, but that didn't seem to matter) was pretty good but could have been better. My feeling was that the owners and staff were overwhelmed and much busier than they thought they would be. There were three of us and the charming and lovely waitress got 2 scone and tea sandwich orders wrong BUT because she was trying so hard and the place was so lovely, I didn't mind and let it go. What we did mind however, was the stingy presentation of lemon curd and the so-called 'clotted cream.' Once these folks get the details right, there is going to be a line going around the block to get in. Lest I forget, the mix and match vintage china made for such a charming and inviting table. I just loved it. Also, the gift shop is just right, the vintage flavor of some of the gifts and the variety of items for sale was super. Okay folks, I'm coming back and bringing another group of tea mavens, so get some good clotted cream!

Being Canadian, I was reared on 'High Tea Time' & was so appreciative for a taste of home. The whole package, atmosphere, staff, & food were excellent.I give them *5* stars. Best & most authentic scones I have had in US. I have recommended the place to all my friends & I will be visiting often. My only complaint is they need to expand the restaurant.
