I attended a high tea at D's Victorian Teas on Saturday, July 22, 2017. I had an absolutely wonderful time. It was my first experience with high tea and although I certainly understand the concept, I was not prepared for the setting, decor, and all that made the atmosphere so incredibly inviting. This venue is impeccably kept and very fitting for afternoon and high teas. The food was outstanding -- I cannot say enough about the selection, taste, and presentation. Our hostess, Darlene, was friendly and warm, and so very efficient. I recognize and appreciate her attention to detail and how committed she is to her business just by how well we were served. I highly recommend anyone interested in hosting a special event, such as a shower, or just getting together with good friends to experience this fabulous 'adventure'!

This was my first experience with high tea. I was absolutely impressed with the setting and decor. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, with soft music playing in the background. The home was tastefully decorated with precious antiques and tea cups and accessories. The outside of the house was also beautiful, well-kept. We (myself and two others on the party) were seated and able to choose from a variety of individually wrapped tea bags. We each had our own personal tea pots with hot water. Specific menu items served (some seasonal): cinnamon vanilla and lemon poppyseed sweet breads, carrot ginger soup, spinach and bacon quiche, orange cranberry scone with clotted cream and jam, finger sandwiches including chicken salad on croissant, cucumber and dill cream cheese, and cinnamon raison bread with carrot cream cheese. There was also a sampling of desserts including a triple layer peanut butter chocolate brownie, carrot cake, and lemon sandwich cookie with buttercream. We were so full we had to take our dessert to go. Such an enjoyable afternoon! Would absolutely recommend this establishment. The service and experience were top notch.

Yesterday I was privileged to be able to have my Sarah's baby shower at D's home. Darlene and her husband greeted and welcomed us into their magnificent home wholeheartadly. We had high tea for 21 guests, the tables were amazing, the food was delicious, each course was served in a timely beautiful arrangement. Everything that wasn't eaten she packed goodie bags for each guest. I felt like I had known the two of them my whole life. They were so genuine and lovely. My Sarah had lived in the house with her family before her Mom passed away, it was the first time she had been back there since, my husband was incredibly touched by Darlene and her husband to show him all around and reminice about the family he grew in their now home. I am so incredibly grateful to the two of them, it was the most special day. I feel I would be remiss if I didn't mention a contradiction to some of the reviews from another party mentioned in these reviews. When I spoke with Darlene to schedule Sarahs party, she immediately told me, there is parking for five vehicles in her driveway, no cars on the street, additional parking was literally two minutes away, so we shuttled people to the home, as we didn't want to cause our most gracious hostess any stress, we arrived on time, as its most important to not be late as once the tea starts, everything is timed, to keep food warm etc., I truly have to say to the folks who wrote bad reviews from another date, Darlene is a delightful woman who goes out of her way to open their home, to serve top of the line teas and food, who takes great pride in doing so. I encourage everyone to give her a call to plan a day or celebration to be treated. We are all planning a trip back asap, much love to you Darlene and your husband.

I had my baby shower today at D's and it was amazing!! I grew up in that beautiful Victorian house and moved out about 15 years ago after my mother passed away and that was the first time I had been back into the home since then. Darlene and her husband allowed me to go through the whole house and it brought back so many childhood memories! Thank you both so very much for a delicious brunch, a great tea selection and being so genuinely kind to myself and my guests. You made this day magical for me! Sarah April 8th 2017

D's Victorian Teas was my second tea experience. My two. friends and I drove from Columbus to attend. The atmosphere was perfect, very cozy and personable. There was plenty of tea bags to choose, both herbal and caffeinated. The carrot soup was delicious, with just a hint of ginger. I had dietary constraints, a citric allergy and peanut/peanut butter sensitivity. The alternative menu items for me were delicious! The hostess was well prepared and kind during our visit. The house and grounds are beautiful. I especially loved the pull chain toilet and all the pictures of outhouses in the powder room. We plan to make the trip again soon with our entire ladies' bible small group.

I have had the privilege to attend numerous high teas at D's Victorian Teas. I attended again on Monday, Apr 3, 2017 with a group of friends. We felt like pampered guests in her home. Since I avoid caffiene in the evenings, it is nice to know there is always a wide variety of herbal and decaffinated teas. As before, the made-from-scratch scones and clotted cream were my favorite. Her home soup, sandwiches and dessert are always varied and delicious! We had a fun time and I highly recommend this experience to everyone who enjoys good tea, delicious food and an attentive hostess!

We were well pleased with the high tea served to our group of 8 ladies at D's Victorian Teas on Monday, April 3, 2017. We were warmly greeted by our hostess and we soon realized that we were welcome guests in her home - not just customers. As guests we also were aware of our responsibility of etiquette and manners expected, and well deserved. to our hostess. There was a wide variety of tea available for our enjoyment and the food was delicious! Our hostess explained each course and served us on a beautifully set table in an elegant manner in a seasonally (spring and Easter) decorated room. Our high tea began with a course of soup and two different kinds of home made bread. We were also served scones with clotted cream and jam, individual quiches, and fresh fruit. Each lady was provided with 3 different kinds of finger sandwiches and 3 different individual desserts. The attention to detail - including the home made crust and filling of each individual quiche - was noted and much appreciated. Please give yourself the gift of this wonderful experience as soon and as often as possible.

My mother raised me to never judge a book by its cover. D's Victorian Teas is beautiful in terms of the house and antique decorations. The hostess, however, is a different chapter. First, she questions where my best friend is going to place her 3 week old newborn, questioning if she's going to hold her the whole time in a condescending tone. Sad to say she only grew more condescending from there. Two of our guests arrived late and she made sure to point out not only that they were late but the length of time they were late. She could never make up her mind. First it was, sit where we please. Then she would rearrange us. She talked down to us during the meal and treated us like an inconvenience. After all is said and done she lets our party planner have it. Tells her not to recommend anyone and that she doesn't want us back among other things. That it was an inconvenience and she treated us as such. My first tea party experience and all I could say is the tea was good and so was my company.

      Tearoom response:

When a guest makes a reservation at my tea house there are guidelines and details that are discussed...even more if it is a large group. When those guidelines and common proper etiquette are not then followed by the guest this causes frustration and sometimes inconveniences by myself and helpers. This was the case on my April 2nd baby shower tea. I am sure that my frustration was noticed, but I in no way meant anyone disrespect. Since this is my private home and you are an invited guest into my home it is my right to ask you not to return if there is a problem. This is what I chose to do. (the first time I have done so in 5 1/2 years). I work extremely hard to put on a beautiful, delicious tea and to make my guests feel welcome in my home. To anyone reading this...please consider my other reviews prior to April 2nd.

I attended a baby shower at D's tea house. I understand parking was a huge issue and for that I am sorry we had so many cars. However the hostess wasn't very pleasant. She was outright rude and inhospitable. The only true lyrics friendly service we got was from her sweet husband was very accommodating. She wasn't very pleasant with the mother to be about her seating and ran a very strick seating. She asked us not to come back and to not give any recommendations as she doesn't want our opinions posted. So here it goes. I do not recommend taking yourself or anyone else here. There has to be a more friendly and relaxing teahouse to enjoy. Please stay away.

Attended a group tea on November 30, 2016. Group was 8 ladies. We had an absolutely memorable afternoon. Our hostess was A+, as was the food, the service, the atmosphere. Had always wanted to attend a high tea. It was just a lovely memory. Hope to go back in the spring of 2017 with same group.

Darlene's teahouse is her own beautiful "painted lady" type home. We had Christmas tea and the beautiful decor was awesome. The tea was in teabag form which I prefer. We passed around lovely tea chests with a huge selection of teas. We were told to select two but several of the guests asked and were given permission to select one or two more. We had individual teapots of hot water. The table setting was very beautiful. We had homemade soup and two types of fancy breads. We also had scones with clotted cream or applebutter. We had three types of delicious sandwiches and three types of wonderful desserts. I hope I haven't forgotten anything! The food was all made by Darlene in her own kitchen. She served it beautifully and with good speed. The entire experience was wonderful and I can't wait to do it again! This is an experience you will love.

I first visited D's Victorian Teas over 2 years ago, for a baby shower for a friend. Since then, I have visited 3 additional times and each time, more friends want to join in. D's hospitality is superb and each time I have been to her home, I have felt nothing less than welcome and comfortable. I enjoy exploring the tea rooms and taking in all of her antiques and seasonal decor. Her selection of tea bags is extraordinary and she encourages each guest to try as many as they'd like. D is attentive to every guest, quickly clearing dirty dishes and filling empty glasses. The food she serves is delicious, fresh, and plentiful. Visiting D's is a wonderful treat and I will continue to return again and again!

I'm not sure what I liked best, the atmosphere or the high tea. The house is decorated for the season, and looked beautiful. We had several choices of individual tea bags to choose from, and several courses for our meal. We were all full before getting to the last two courses, and Darlene brought us to-go boxes so we could bring home what we couldn't finish. It was a leisurely lunch and a great time. I would recommend this tea house to anyone looking for a lovely afternoon.

We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary with high tea at this lovely establishment as a nod to their 40th anniversary trip to England. The decor is lovely and 'D' has interesting stories to tell about where in her travels her treasures were collected. The selection of teas (tea bags only) was impressive. The food is plentiful and delicious. we all loved the cold peach soup, the wonderful scones, pretty desserts and tasty sandwiches. I particularly liked the olive/nut sandwiches, so very unusual but a real hit with us, and the spinach/swiss cheese quiche. We had to take home the leftovers because we couldn't bear to leave them behind! 'D' was very attentive but not intrusive, a truly charming hostess. I highly recommend that you try it out for yourself. I will definitely be back.

Tea and food were excellent, as was the atmosphere. D has a wonderful variety of foods that are not only yummy, but beautifully presented. Carrot soup was delicious as a starter, followed by quiche, also delicious. Scones with cream and jam were to die for. The sandwiches were varied and, need I say it again, delicious. A variety of yummy desserts topped off the meal. There was more food than I could comfortably eat, so leftovers were boxed to take home. We loved browsing her extensive collection of antiques and travel memorabilia. Service could not have been better. I look forward to another high tea very soon and recommend this Victorian Tea highly!

Some of my family members and I made a reservation and went to D's Victorian Teas for a combined birthday celebration. The variety of tea bag selection was extensive and freely offered. I even combined a vanilla chai and caramel and it was delicious! The squash soup was so good as a starter with the high tea choice and I am not all that crazy for squash as a rule. Our experience just got more enjoyable from there. The finger sandwiches, fruit and desserts were beautifully presented and just enough. The owner, Darlene is a joy and so generous with her kind and caring service We had a wonderful time and will return!

What a lovely experience. I had no idea what to expect when I arrived, but the Christmas decorations and the table settings were absolutely lovely. She had a wonderful selection of tea (tea bags), and she kept each individual pot at your setting full of hot water at all times! Don't know how she did it, but she did. The food was amazing. She had tomato basil soup, a delightful quiche, and the finger sandwiches and desserts were delightful. All in all, it was an outstanding tea. In May my sister-in-law and I celebrated my mother-in-law's 85th birthday at D's. This was our first time at this lovely home for High Tea. We arrived a few minutes early and were asked to remain outside until the time of our reservation. This was a little surprising but we came to understand why later as we watched how D beautifully managed her guests' needs during their tea experience. D has a beautiful home inside and out. it was a pleasant surprise to walk around the front and back of the property or sit on the whimsicle porches while we waited. Upon entering the home for tea we were surprised to see so many items of interest. Yes, some areas may have seemed a little crowded but there was a theme and you just needed to stop and take your time to experience it all. We were not the first guests to have a reservation that day. A group of ladies with small children in an adjoining room were visible through french doors and appeared to be having fun. The food was delicious with soup, quiche, scones, cream, sandwhiches, treats, etc. Around 50 teas to choose from or ice tea and I found a new favorite - vanilla chai. D was engaging and attentive...just lovely. We had a wonderful experience. I absolutely plan to return.

I was not impressed with the experience we had at D's Victorian Teas. The space was very cluttered and nothing about it was like any English tea I have attended in my many trips to England. I have had tea in multiple locations in England with English friends from the casual local tea room to the high tea in elaborate locales. This was very Americanized. Her home seemed to be filled with more knickknacks and souvenirs, making it difficult to move about. The sandwiches were not traditional English tea sandwiches, one cut in a large flower shape. They would never put fruit or nuts in their chicken salad sandwiches. The scones were flat and dry, not fluffy and crisp on the outside. D would be better off purchasing clotted cream than passing off the concoction she makes. She stated she didn't want to spend the money to purchase real clotted cream. We all felt as if she was hovering, would take things quickly and abruptly and rushed along. The thing that really annoyed me was the packed tray of bagged Bigelow teas that would not be served at a real English Tea and there were no tea cups, just mugs. When my English friends asked about the tea, they scoffed at the idea this was English in any way. Rather, acknowledging, we attended yet another American tea. We were all disappointed, all the way around.

We just celebrated my mom's 97th birthday at D's. It is a wonderful place for a celebration. She has a huge selection of teas and and a wide variety of homemade goodies from soup to exotic desserts. It was a first time for 3 of us and 3rd time for 2 of us. Her home is beautifully decorated and changes with the seasons. It was as though we were being served by a friend and I am anxious to go back.

I just got finished with a high tea at D's with eight friends. It was a great experience,! She had a vast selection of teas and the food was outstanding. My favorites were the carrot soup and chicken salad sandwich, but loved all the sweet treats, too. D was a gracious hostess and made us all feel very welcomed by telling us about her home and how she got started.

Once again High Tea was very enjoyable and the food delicious. You are welcomed into her beautiful home where the theme changes per season and it is so fun to walk around and see the decorations and tea sets. You can choose your own tea flavor from large assortment of tea bags and brew in your own teapot - as you enjoy two different homemade tea breads, then soup and quiche, followed by scones, three delicious tea sandwiches and an assortment of three desserts - a wonderful treat to take friends and family - each time I go, I am always welcomed and love to hear the story behind how she started! Great place to visit - can't wait for my next visit!

I went with 5 others to celebrate a friend's birthday. What a unique way to celebrate a birthday, makes it very memorable. D was very friendly and gave us some history. The teas and food were wonderful and the amount was more than we expected. It was a high tea with a peach theme. One thing that was so kind and wonderful D provided the food with special attention to two people's special dietary needs. She was happy to do so and the guests were very appreciative. I have been to other teas where that would not have been possible. The home was beautiful with many interesting pieces and we felt welcome and cared for. We gave the birthday person her gifts and caused some chaos and D was so gracious and helpful we all determined to go back. We took many great pictures and the outside of the home is unique and so lovely who could not enjoy. If you enjoy teas this is the place. D was gracious and made us feel special.

I don't know much about tea houses as this was the first one I had been to but everything was delightful! I can see why people enjoy seeking them out and visiting! I was there for a baby shower and there were about 7 pr 8 people in our group. D was very polite and accommodating. She visited with our group for a short period of time served us our tea and food. Everything was so pleasant and the food was very yummy! Every crumb was eaten up! Many other people I know have held events there, mainly bridal or baby showers. I would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a tea party with their friends!

She does her very best to be gracious, informative and caring to each of her guests. Her menu changes with the seasons and holidays, and it has always been generous in serving size and delicious to the palette! I always look forward to taking my friends to high tea at D's! Until a couple months ago, I never heard of High Tea. And was I surprised! A friend had suggested it and a group of 8 ladies went. From the time you walk in the door you are greeted warmly and made to feel at home. D's has such an assortment of teas, we ladies had to laugh at ourselves trying to make up our minds. My favorite tea was Lady Grey(tea bag). You can try more than one. Service was great, food was delicious, if I had to pick a favorite I would say the Scones. Just a wonderful time to spend with family or friends without feeling rushed. Since we went in January, we were lucky also to have seen Darlene's Christmas decorations. That was a treat in itself. So beautiful! I had hoped to go back again. Then a friend called and off I went without a moment's hestitaion, and we went back yesterday and this time the house was decorated very nicely for Valentine's Day. Although there were five of us and another room with four women, there was no hustle or bustle or the noise you would hear in a restaurant. You really feel that you are at a home of a special friend. I plan to go again. You won't leave with an empty stomach, but you will leave with warmth, satisfaction, and happiness. . .and the desire to go back and try another tea, sample the food, and see what decorations Darlene will have next.

To the ladies from Kentucky, I am so sorry you had such a bad experience at D's. I went there the day before you and me and my 7 friends had a fantastic time. The food was great, the hostess was very cordial and we got to chose from the largest choice of teas I have ever seen. We each tried two different teas and found some that now we want to purchase ourselves. As far as the Crystal Light tea goes, along with your personal choice of excellent teas to drink, our hostess offered us (as a cold alternative) water and an instant Peach tea which we all loved. It was not too sweet and very refreshing. We begged her for her recipe but she confessed, much to our amazement and amusement, that it was Crystal Lite Peach Tea. We were all delighted that we can purchase it. Please remember, whoever views this, that we were offered great teas as part of the high tea experience. The cold beverage was just an extra offering and did not interfere with our experience. We plan on coming back again.

I am from London ky drove up to Ohio to meet my friend she was taking me to D'S Victorian Teas for my birthday. I'm not a Tea lover but I love the special atmosphere and the history off the tea homes. We have been to several in different states and always been pleased. After reading the reviews we believed we was in for another memorable and pleasant afternoon. But Miss D was very unpleasant we did not feel welcome she said she would tell us the history after lunch she was busy serving another party. She was very rushed and rude and we never heard no history. It is a place I would not recommend . Oh and we were served Crystal lights tea.

      Tearoom response:

Dear Brenda, Tammi and Whitney, Since opening my home to tea guests I have been given a 100 percent satisfaction rating with 45 previous reviews on this site. When you left my home the last words spoken to me by the Grandmother were, Thank you, everything was really wonderful. You all seemed to be having a lovely time up until the chair accident. You can hopefully understand why I was so surprised to then see your 3 negative reviews. I am sorry that your tea experience did not live up to your expectations. D

I have been to many tea parties and businesses over the past several years throuhout Ohio and Indiana and was looking for a new place to take my nieces, grand daughter and other ladies in my family for a special treat. So the reviews I read on D's Victorian Teas were very inviting and positive and we were so excited to try. I was quite surprised at the lack of warmth and hospitality upon arriving. While we had a reservation it appears that she had booked another party to close to ours which strectched her time to thin and she seemed to be rushed. The food was very good but with tea rooms the service is as important as the food and it seemed her time was rushed and not at all to the quality of the reviews I read that drew me here. Very disappointing.

I am very disappointed, this was my first time going to a tea party and it was horrible, the food was pretty good but the lady who runs it was incredibly rude and not business like at all, she over booked herself and could barley wait on any of us, she didnt make it fun or do anything with us, we also had a young girl with us and she told her she was lucky she let her come because she usually doesnt and the worst part of it all is the chair my grandmother was sitting in broke and she fell and the only thing she was concerned about was the chair that broke was an antique and part of a set and now her set was ruined, she didn't show any concern about how she was or apologize about what happened and she didn't offer to compensate her for the accident, I was very disappointed in her poor atitude and lack of professionalism I would not recommend going to her at all!

We were very lucky to have been taken for High Tea on 26th November 2014 and we were treated to a wonderful experience and tea. We were greeted by Darlene who was so friendly and welcoming. Her home is decorated through-out with wonderful interesting things collected from across the United Kingdom and other parts of the world. Darlene invited us to her table, wonderfully decorated and we started our High Tea. Delicious Butternut squash with home-made Friendship breads, two types, Lemon and Butterscotch friendship breads which we had never had before, quite delicious. Then on to individual warmed bacon, Swiss cheese quiche, yum, yum. Then on to home made salted caramel scones with clotted cream, outstanding. A mixture of 3 kinds of sandwiches and then a selection of cakes. Wow, we had so much to eat and quite lovely. We enjoyed home made peach iced tea and a huge variety of hot teas with so many flavours to suit your taste to match the different courses we enjoyed. We live in the Cotswolds, are lucky enough to enjoy English teas at home, but we have to say, Darlene's Victorian Tea's is quite a treat, delicious, great fun and we highly recommend to everyone to go, try and enjoy the whole experience, it's wonderful. With many thanks to Darlene for looking after us so well. Sir Christopher Codrington, Bt.

I brought my family (the ladies)from Pittsburgh to experience this happy place. There was so much to look at even before we were seated. No on could complain about the abundant selection of teas with piping hot water. The high tea offered the most delicious chilled peach soup. The mini-sandwiches were delicious and not your normal white bread presentations and the desserts were very rich. I came back a second time with my Scottish sister-in-law and she had her first taste of a Key Lime dessert. It was way to tart for her but we Americans knew the taste and what to expect. I have been back a 3rd time of afternoon tea with a co-worker and she loved it. I will be back again and again. P.S. Our hostess is very personable, welcoming yet very professional.
