I have taken three separate groups of 3-4 people here over the last year and a half and we have had amazing food, awesome service and a wonderful experience. LOVE the tea options and that you can change option with each new pot. Some of the people have come back on their own with their extended families and had a wonderful time as well. My only wish is that they had an on-line shop for their teas and you could buy more of the teas you taste ... you can by some as gifts already made up. I have made reservations via email and left a message on the phone and they were returned/answered promptly. See you in the fall !!

This can be a great experience or a horrible one. It all depends on the owner and his mood at the time. It's a beautiful location and the food is great. Our few of our tea group members have had marvelous teas there. There are a few things you have to know: 1. Reservations are required and must be firm. Try to be very sure of what your party will be ordering ahead of time. 2. There is no flexibility. Late arrivals are frowned on. Even the possibility of a late arrival mentioned during reservations caused the owner to cancel our reservation and hang up on me. 3. No shows will be charged anyway so do not give your credit card information ahead of time and be prepared to be responsible for anyone who doesn't show. 4. Don't try to add anyone at the last minute. Groupon coupons may be difficult to redeem.

Traveled from eastern Prince William County to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. We wanted to try a tearoom we haven't been to, somewhere out west for an excursion. Coach and Horses was perfect. Tables were nicely spaced, close enough to chat with other tables, but enough distance to have private conversations. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and quick with a tea suggestion. The food was the best I've ever had at a tearoom. Salad was crisp and fresh. Scones were enormous and great. Everyone in our room loved the clotted cream. So much food, we had to take most of the sweets home in a box. Looking forward to another visit soon.

I wanted to take my mother-in-law to the Coach and Horses for her 93rd Birthday and made a reservation for the whole family. My Step-Daughter went into labor and I had to reduce the numbers by two. I was yelled at by the owner and told that this was ridiculous that he had someone just before who wanted a tea for 8 and he had to turn them down. I told him we had no way of knowing. When I got upset by his attitude he said he was canceling the whole reservation. Apparently Labor is no excuse for missing your afternoon tea!! So instead of getting a tea for 7 he has a very unhappy customer who would never recommend this place even if they fed you Gold. Luckily we found a reservation at the tea house in the Plains VA.

I love this place. I took a very good friend for her birthday and we cannot imagine a better place. There are very few places that we have had service that I call Tier 1. Anything we needed was there, the music was not too loud so that we could not talk but just right. Food was impeccable. I am glad I live two hours away or my waistline would be huge. Amazing - I want to go back.

Our family always tries to find a new tea room while traveling, and we're so glad we found this lovely little spot for a delicious and relaxing Afternoon Tea. Plentiful food, delightful décor, cheerful service, and properly brewed teas are all enjoyed here. Our blog post and photos can be found on Rosemary's Sampler:

As someone who has experienced more than 100 tea rooms in the last 11 plus years, I thought I had already experienced the best, however, I was wrong. The Coach and Horse Colonial Tea Room should be at the top of the list. The selection of teas is varied and extensive, the food delicious and creative...extremely fresh, and the service outstanding. The atmosphere is unique, very inviting and homey. Although a 90 minute drive from my home, it was well worth it and I look forward to going back in the future. Don't miss this one!

I found this lovely tea room through a Groupon special. I brought my daughters during the Christmas season and we were pleasantly surprised. They had live piano music and Santa visited our table. There is a wide variety of teas and treats offered. The building is rustic, it's like stepping directly back in time when you enter. My fourteen year old asked to bring her friends there for her birthday. I think we'll visit again during the Spring. You should try it!

I had the pleasure of enjoying their Holiday Tea with my sisters. We have been touring the different tea rooms in the Northern Virginia area, and I can honestly say that The Coach and Horses tea room is my favorite! I can't wait to go back.

What a lovely Tea! The food was excellent and the variety was wonderful! Not the usual dainty food-more imaginative-which pleased my husband a great deal. Scone's were so good. Sweets were scrumptious as well. A generous offering of food and a good price. Nice selection of Teas-the proprietors know their Tea business. It was great fun talking to the owner (Mick)-made the experience even better. Comfortable surroundings (and a great website, too!). Definitely worth the trip. We will be back! It was a wonderful experience.

Coach and Horses Tearoom deserves an excellent +++! My tea friends visited today for the first time - and we will definitely be back! The teas were delicious - I had the cinnamon orange spice black tea. We had the Benjamin Franklin offering - it was full of sumptuous savories and sweets and the most delectable scone I've ever had. Mick is a charming host, and the rest of the staff could not have been nicer. The building is historic, and decorated according to the season. I cannot say enough positive things about Coach and Horses and I can't wait to return.
