If you enjoy good quality loose leaf tea and can live without the china and lace, then this place is a must. I'm a regular customer of this shop getting tea for my home supply choosing from the 130 varieties found here. They sell the loose tea and serve it by the cup or pot in their cute shop. Our family has eaten Sunday brunch here many times and while the selection is less than a restaurant, what they have is very delicious. The scones are wonderful. If you need tea gear this shop has a lot to choose from. Pots, filters, cups, etc. The owner is really friendly and helpful in helping you find something you will like. This shop is in the trendy Pearl District of Portland.

Best selection of sencha teas by the pot that I've run into in the northwest. Reliable and high quality. Staff is dedicated to proper preparation

A real cozy little gem in the Pearl District! They have a pretty impressive selection of teas and incorporate teas into their cocktails. The food is decent quality light fare, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, etc. Everything I've eaten there has been quite tasty. The service can be hit or miss, I've found. If you are in a hurry, probably not the best place to sit down. Service can be a bit of the pace of a glacier, but the people are always friendly and nice. Note: the menu prices of the teas are listed as one-ounce, but many of the drinks come in two-ounces, so if you are exercising thrift, bear this in mind. Overall, I love the Tea Zone and try to always visit when I am in that part of town. Cheers to the Tea Zone!

My friend and I went in January. They use plastic strainers for your tea, which I think is horrible for your health (boiling water + plastic = drinking plastic) and not great for the taste of the tea.

Both times I have been to this place one of the owners has yelled and cursed at one of the employees in my presence. The first time, I thought it was just an unfortunate rare occurrence. The second time I realized it must be a regular thing and brought it up with the young lady who took my order. She just smiled grimly at me and looked over her shoulder to see that she was not being watched and whispered, 'that's not unusual' then shrugged. I feel sorry for those who find themselves working there and can't imagine being a regular customer in that dreadful place. I suggest you go to the tao of tea when you're in portland.

Great atmosphere--trendy, yet comfy, and perfect on a rainy day in Portland! Excellent selection--really fun blends and great 'concoctions' such as bubble teas and cocktails. Don't leave without trying the lavender shortbread--it's incredible with any of the teas!

My husband and I searched out The Tea Zone on a late 'first Thursday' in Portland. They were very busy... obviously a great place to be. Couldn't stay because it was too crowded but enjoyed the quick visit and hospitality.

I went in there some time ago to get a birthday present for my step mom. I knew she was a big tea drinker and I wanted to get her something special. I bought her a loose leaf tea cup where you can steep it in the cup, remove the strainer or infuser or whatever it is called. I was at a total loss when looking at all the choices not just for cups and brewers and the like, but for different sorts of teas. The gentleman who was helping me, smiled and told me he would take care of it. He made a terrific assorted selection of three different teas in little stay fresh bags and he wrote the directions on each one! When I gave the gift, my step-mom's face just lit up!! She was so pleased she went back and bought the same gift for her sister!!

The Tea Zone is easily the best in the area. There are nearly 70 selections of premium to rare teas and selections change constantly to reflect the changes in the world market. Guest who I have brought to the Tea Zone have complained about cleanliness. The bulk tea sales are a bit expensive compared to other tea rooms of its type or internet sales. The owner seems to be very fastidious about here quality of teas and that's a good thing. Also attached to the Tea Zone is the Camilla Lounge. On Friday (and perhaps other nights) they have local talent perform. I was there one night with friends and quite impressed.

Behind a Pearl District tea shop in the traditional American style sits a surprise, a true tea bar mixing tea and alcohol into great tasting concoctions. Tea Zone carries over 100 quality loose-leaf teas and offers a large teapot and tea accessory selection. The affiliated Camellia Lounge employs the notion of mixology and the slogan “drinks should not only taste good but be good for you.” Our tea infused cocktails came with inventive names as well: “The Bobby” made of mango black tea, vodka with 7-up and the “Streetcar Named Desire” made with Champagne, pomegranate liquor and hibiscus juice. It’s low-lit and feels lounge-like yet comfortable. I’ll return to try more creative tea combinations.

Today was my first time at the Tea Zone. My daughter & I ventured to the Pearl district today for a sunny afternoon. We just happened to park beside the Tea Zone. My daughter suggested we go in because I had mentioned I would love some iced tea. What a delightful discovery. I enjoyed the best iced tea I think I have ever had. We sat in the front section & enjoyed watching a women outside nibbling on her crumpet, slicing her piece of chocolate as if she were French and sipping her infusion. Our server was wonderful. We were very impressed with the commitment to ensure our experience was positive. I ended up coming back later to grab a piece of chicken broccoli quiche to go. It was fresh from the oven! We will definitely return. Both of us agreed The Tea Zone is our new hot spot in the Pearl.

The TeaZone has long been my favorite place to drink and buy tea in Portland (or anywhere else, for that matter). The selection of teas, which include several organically grown varities, is fantastic and constantly being updated. The tea menu is so long, in fact, that it almost overwhelms the novice drinker. Fortunately, the owners and staff are there to assist and they do so without pretensions of any sort. Finally, the shop is tastefully decorated (and recently expanded so that one can always find a seat - this wasn't true in the not so distant past) and the dessert and lunch goodies complement practically any choice of tea. The TeaZone defines the gold standard of what a tea shop should be.

The Tea Zone has an incredible selection of tea, as well as a very friendly, well informed staff. Whenever I am in Portland, I always stop in for a cup of tea, even if I am just passing through. Conveniently located in The Pearl District, it is easy to get off I-5 and stop in for a cup of tea to go and get back on the road. Also, if you are looking for an alternative to the normal bar scene, I highly recommend there tea lounge for tea infused cocktails.

The Tea Zone is my favorite place in Portland. After discovering loose leaf tea I'll never go back to tea bags. They have a very large selection of loose-leaf teas as well as bubble teas, tea smoothies and tea lattes. Even if you're not a tea drinker you'll find something that you like. Great selection of tea pots, cups, etc. If you travel there are some very cool and innovative items for taking and making your tea on the road. They have a limited menu selection, which I think is smart. They focus on good quality food offering sandwiches, quiches, soups, salads, etc. If you have a sweet tooth their desserts are awesome. There used to be limited seating which could back things up when they were busy. Now they have expanded adding a lounge. If you want a quiet peacful place to read or talk to a friend, the seating in the back is perfect. It feels cosy and private. If you prefer natural light the front is the place for you. I highly recommend the Tea Zone.

If i had gone for just to purchase tea, I would have been happy. I was looking for a place to sit down, have a light lunch and do some reading. The shop is full of stuff to purchase and teas to purchase, but lacking in the customer service. The servers seem to be bored college students who have better things to do than wait on me. The area was a bit cramped up front, where I sat, and the back is more for visiting. The turkey sandwich I got was good and the Caramel Chocolate tart was out of this world! It just wasn't the atmosphere for me. Too trendy and not 'homey' enough.

My favorite are their tea lattes. It comes in a kettle so you get about three full cups. Try the almond black currant. Yum! It is also a great place to sit outside and people watch or lounge with your dog.

We had business in Portland and stopped in for a cup of hot tea. While there we saw a group partaking of the Holiday High Tea and decided to return the next day. It was every bit as good as we had hoped...fresh and tasty food, attractive presentation and wonderful tea. I highly recommend 'tea time' at The Tea Zone, but be sure that you make reservations. Except for before Christmas, afternoon tea is only offered on specific Saturdays or by reservation for groups.Sharron deMontigny, Tea Rooms Northwest

I have visited this tea shop numerous times. It is a favorite of my family. I get many of my teas from this store since I live within 20 miles of it. The shop is in the Pearl district of Portland, an up and coming district made from the older buildings but remodeled and trendy, plus many new buildings. It is right on a street where the new street car goes by on NW 11th. It is a small shop so seating can be crowded at times. There is seating at tables outside on the sidewalk when the weather is nice. The shop offers maybe 75-80 loose teas in tins, plus they serve hot and cold tea, bubble tea, and other hot drinks. They offer a smallish variety of foods but what they offer are excellent! I've had their scones, veggie quiche, and panini grilled sandwiches for Sunday brunch and loved every morsal! Service is courteous and fairly prompt. The flavor of the shop feels a little 'gothic' by the staff that work there but they all are friendly and helpful. I like the shop because it caters more to younger contemporary people, not a traditional victorian styled tea house. They also offer a ton of teaware, so much you wonder how they cram it all in the tiny shop. If you are looking for pots, mugs, filters, etc, they offer a large variety, more than any other store I've found in Portland. I highly recommend The Tea Zone for tea, snacks, loose tea supplies, teaware, and fun. Their menu of tea has great descriptions worth the read. If you don't visit The Tea Zone and Tao of Tea on your visit to Portland, you've missed out!!!

My sister, mother, and I attended their special Mother's Day afternoon tea and it was fabulous! We got a choice of teas (we each tried a different one) and a wonderful variety of savory and sweet treats. The every day menu is more simple, but great also. The tea selection is quite varied and changes often. The Keemun English Breakfast blend I bought recently is superb!!
