All our loose teas are available to taste and consider. Just keep in mind that there have been many who have planned for a quick stop, but ended up staying for hours, tasting tea, perusing the shop, and discussing every aspect of the world of tea!

Unfortunately the tasting room has been closed for a long time now. The cafe only serves takeout (or eat outside). The shop is nice, but small and doesn't have a very wide selection of their teas to purchase. Only a smallish selection and each variety only available is one size package. Lots of expensive teaware though. Disappointed to experience disinterested or disgruntled employees not offering any assistance.

Very fast shipping and amazing teas. The best is that they are in my neighborhood 🙂

After spending nearly an hour in the tasting room, smelling and trying so many different teas, we ate a delicious lunch and shopped in the store. Two of us walked away filled to the brim with good food, great teas, new cups, books and recipes ... along with an impromptu hello from our gracious host, John Harney himself. This was an experience well worth the drive from Long Island and I look forward to going back again soon!!!

I visited the Tasting Room on a Sunday. First of all it is a beautiful drive, and we really took in the fall scenery. When we got there, we tasted the flight of teas available that weekend, which were 4 types of Jasmine, delicious! Then, we were each able to try 2 teas of our choice. The employees there were friendly and extremely knowledgable. They took the time to talk with us, and we even shared a bowl of Matcha! The connected restaurant serves wonderful light fare in a serene atmosphere. Check out the blog, then go visit!

      Outstanding in all ways.

Enter through the tea tasting room and explore the many and varied teas offered by the premier tea blenders in the country. The gift shop holds so many beautiful tea related items. Then move on into the cozy tea cafe for delicious daily iced tea specials or a pot of your favorite tea blend accompanied by scones or one of the varied lunch items. Harney's is one of my favorite places that I visit as often as possible and to which I have introduced many friends.

Harney & Sons does tea with Class- yes, that's a capital C. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of farmhouse coziness and Zen simplicity. Given that they are one of the largest tea importers in the country, their selection is truly spectacular, and the staff is fantastically knowledgeable. The best reason to visit H&S is the FREE tea tastings they offer at any time. They always have a 'tea of the moment' to try, and then they allow you to select two additional teas to try- any two in their whole catalog! You can't beat that. In retrospect, I probably owe my appreciation and love of fine teas entirely to H&S, and their tastings allow me to try the truly fine teas that I probably couldn't afford otherwise. Three cheers!

Oh, just a warning. If you go on a weekend in the summer or fall, expect a total zoo in their tasting room. Weekdays are much better in these seasons.

Although we thoroughly enjoy stopping at tearooms whenever the opportunity arises, we do not consider ourselves experts. When we came across the Harney & Sons website quite by accident, we decided to take a ride one Monday afternoon in April. It turned out to be one of the best afternoons ever! Millerton itself is a quaint little village where you would never expect to find the quality and variety of shops and activities which are there. What started out to be an hour at most to taste some teas, turned into an entire afternoon. The teahouse is a find! The menu offers a variety of luncheon suggestions which were just different enough to be interesting without being outlandish and a variety to appeal to everyone's liking. We enjoyed two iced tea specials and shared a pot of piping hot Earl Grey served with the best scones we ever recall eating. After lunch, we enjoyed a visit to the giftshop which, again, offered a variety of items including some fantastic books on travel. We topped the afternoon off with a free sampling in the teahouse served by one of the most knowledgeable and pleasant 'bartenders' ever. The walls are full of all types of teas - far too many to list - any of which you are invited to try. After our fantastic day, we walked across the street to a glassblowing factory which encourages visitors to watch the craftsmen at work. What a day. Anyone who is into tea or just wants a low-keyed, enjoyable afternoon should visit this wonderful teahouse. Harney & Sons ships their products and you can see the list of world-reknown restaurants and hotels that serve their teas. We left totally amazed to find such a gem.

My daughter and I made the two-and-a-half hour trek (over hill and dale in some very questionable areas) for the Harney's tea-tasting experience. Because we came on a weekday, we were the only people in the store and recieved the utmost care and attention from all of the staff. We were even introduced to one of the Harneys themselves! We came away with many new teas in bulk - if you have been curious about trying a new tea, but hesitant to invest in several ounces worth, this is definitely the way to go, as the staff will help you to pinpoint exactly what you like or dislike in a tea -- I'm a China person, my daughter prefers Assams... who knew? We both like their All-India blend, as do hubby and son.

Kudos to the staff for going above and beyond the call of duty by providing a map back to civilization (a shortcut from the way we came!) and also for recommending a yummy ice cream shop around the corner. The gourmet grocery store in town is also worth a peak.

I have been to Harney's several times and it's definitely one of my favorites. The tea selection is amazing and the people in the tasting room are quite knowledgable and very pleasant. I can't say enough nice things about them. The cafe is very cute. The food and presentation are very good but the service in the cafe is hit or miss. Sometimes it's wonderful, sometimes it's lousy, depending on who the waiter/waitress is that day. They also have a little shop where you can purchase tea related items, as well as any of their teas, which I have quite a selection of now. I would highly recommend this place.

I loved Harney! Great tea and amazing scones that were a nice bonus with our pot of tea. Cute setting too.
