Katie is the greatest server ever! Four friends who hadn't seen each other in 15 years got the greatest service, plenty of hot water, fresh teas promptly brought, sandwich switches were cheerfully and correctly handled. It was a great experience! I'd been trying to get here for years, and it lived up to it's reputation! The coconut oolong tea was really interesting!

Sunday 12/1 was my first visit to the Talking Tea Cup. The decor was quite lovely and charming. I loved the whimsical feel of the mismatching tea cups and plates at each seat. I also loved the feel of this historic building. The tea and food preparations and pairngs were very well done. The shop very charming and well stocked with bags of loose tea, infusers, tea books, pots and mugs. The only criticism I have is that the service was horrendously slow. There were only two tables other than ours. We waited quite a while for someone to approach our table when we first arrived, then there was a mad flurry of food and teas brought to the table, but then after that not a soul could be found - it was probably a good 45 minutes before someone even appeared that we could ask for our check after we finished. The owner, while cordial and businesslike, was not overly warm or friendly. All-in-all though it was a nice experience and I will definitely go back.

The owner of the tearoom seems to have a little bit of an attitude issue from what I've witnessed with several tables over my several visits to the tea room. Aside from this the food and tea are well prepared and severed. Make sure to make a reservation ideally 24 hours ahead of time.

Overall a good experience. I would recommend tea warmers be used to keep the tea hotter for those of us who like to chat and take our time - perhaps we were a little too chatty - lol. All the food was very tasty and the scones were excellent. I loved that we all had our own pot of tea and so we had 4 different teas to pass around and try. Lovely setting, beautiful decor.

Delicious scones and tea sandwiches (although a bit skimpy on the fillings). Not very attentive for a nice afternoon out. Desserts seem to be always the same, a teapot shaped sugar cookie, brownie, and a not so good tasting square piece of layer cake (almost taste like supermarket cake). Some people get tea cozy on their teapot, while others don't......so tea gets cold quick as the place is cold to begin with.

Attended the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa arrival Saturday night...it was very nice. I've been wanting to check out this place. After seeing how nice it was I decided to try it for lunch. Oh my goodness, it was yummy. The scones, soup and sandwiches were simply delicious and the service was so friendly. I will be back and if you're looking to give yourself and friends a special treat, make reservations and visit this tearoom for lunch. Wonderful!

A charming, cozy place with good food and good people. Great tea, freshly brewed. The iced tea option is always nice too. The dress up room upstairs is wonderful for girls. The country style makes it less 'fru-fru girly' than some tea rooms, great if men who want to join you. The only thing I wish is that they had quiche on the lunch menu, and not just for breakfast. (I love quiche!) But the tea sandwiches and scones are scrumptious!

I visited this tea room and found the experience wonderful. I sat outside, on their lovely patio, and enjoyed a delicious High Tea along with some beautiful weather and landscaping. The nicest surprise was that the salid, soup (brocoli chedder) and some of the sandwiches were made with vegetables grown fresh in their Kitchen Garden. What a great way to enjoy locally freas grown food. This tea room is not only growing their own herbs, vegetables and fruit on site, but they also really know how to use those ingredents to make wonderfully delicioius menu items. So very tasty. I will be back and can't wait for their tomatoes to rippen. I was told they are growing about 15 varities.

Had a delicious High Tea, complete with the best scones I've ever tasted. The soup and tea sandwiches were very tasty, each sandwich was so savory...yumm. Service was friendly and very helpful with suggestions on which tea to have. They have over 75 different teas on their tea menu. Then, when I got home I saw them featured as a favorite lunch spot on TV on NBC 10. Cool http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/station/as_seen_on/Lunch_Spots__The_Talking_Teacup_Philadelphia.html

This was about our 6th time visiting this tearoom and although we have enjoyed it before, this visit was a letdown. The tea was very weak and when I requested it be brewed longer, I was given an attitude. My teenager was given a teapot which leaked all over the place and was told it was a drippy droppy teapot. This should have been replaced. Two members of our party ordered the same tea and we were given attitude that they each wanted their own teapot. The food was nowhere near as good as usual. The tastes they put together in the sandwiches were not complementary flavors. The desserts also were unimaginative, a small piece of cake, 1' x 1', a tiny cheesecake and a cookie. I was unaccustomed to getting such a small amount of food. All members of my party felt the same way. It was as though we were a bother versus an opportunity to make money, especially in this economy. If we cannot get reservations at our preferred tea house, we will just choose to stay home. It is to expensive a lunch to leave hungry. I don't know if they just had a bad day, but the service and food this day were abominable. I hope they step it up in the future.

This Tea Room continues to please. Delicious food, perfectly steeped tea, friendly staff and a cute Gift Shop for some after tea shopping! I noticed they are in the process of planting a very nice vegetable and herb garden which I understand they will use as a Kitchen Garden for the Tea Room. What a great idea to grow Garden Fresh ingredients! Like I said, this Tea Room continues to please!

I have been to the Talking Teacup many, many times. While their food is great and their teas wonderful, I find that my grandmother and I feel somewhat alienated in the environment by the owner. She is sweet to everyone else [maybe they are regulars?] but she comes off as very cold towards us. Everyone else is lovely and accommodating and polite. It is hard to make reservations. I've been given a hard time about trying to get a spot even if I call a few days in advance. I understand they have high traffic but they should at least try to work with their clients a bit more instead of saying that they're booked and not providing any open slots on that particular day. I have only ever walked in to their tea room twice but each time, even though there were open tables, I had to go through a bit of a hassle to be seated. I almost felt like they were giving me a hard time because I DIDN'T call in advance. I understand the importance of reservations but they should also understand people like going places spontaneously. I love their decor and collection of teaware.

I hosted a baby shower at the Talking Teacup. What a perfect place for one! The food was wonderful .... scones, tomato bisque, a wide variety of tea sandwiches, tasty desserts .... not to mention the tea! We definitely did not leave hungry. They placed us in a private, charming room upstairs and catered to our every need. The staff, especially Kathy the owner, were accommodating and friendly. This tearoom has become my favorite out of the many I have visited and is the only one I return to regularly. From the special dessert teas at night to a full afternoon tea, this shop does not disappoint. There is a large variety of loose leaf teas, tissanes, and even mate. They also feature seasonal teas. My favorites inclued the chocolate creme black tea and Savannah rooibos. The food is always fresh and the sandwich fillings excellent and often unique. The scones are deliscious! The only thing missing is lemon curd, which they may have but I've never asked. I have gone here with parties of two to parties of 10 and the service is always outstanding. The owner is extremely friendly and accomodating. Definitely a teashop to check out if you haven't already.

I took my friend for tea to this tearoom for her birthday. We usually go to a different tearoom, however decided to try Talking Teacup after reading the reviews. It was just an 'okay' experience and definitely not one of the best tearooms out there. Although the sandwiches and desserts were okay they were not great. I was surprised to read the review about decaffeinating tea. There are many articles about this process. One only steeps the tea for 45 seconds and 80/85 percent of the caffeine is removed. It has no effect on the flavor of the tea.

I love tea rooms and I find teamap to be very helpful in locating tea rooms when I travel. This tea room is wonderful. I very much enjoyed the high tea. The scones were perfectly delicious and served nice and warm. The selection of tea sandwiches, 6 in all, were each savory and scrumptious and the soup was very tasty. The service was top notch, the atmosphere was inviting and the gift shop is so cute! They have a well rounded and large selection of tea, served in individual pots. When in the Doylestown area, this tea room is well worth the visit.

      

I have been to several tea rooms in the area, and was looking forward to visiting the Talking Teacup for high tea. The venue was charming, but that was the highlight of the visit. The decaffeinated tea list was short, and when I asked the server about decaffeinating other teas, she pointed to the list and said that those were the decaf teas. I have learned at other shops that any tea can be reduced in caffeine content by pouring off the first steeping. They didn't seem to know that. The server didn't tell us what kind of soup was being served until she brought it to the table and we asked her before she walked away. We were never asked if we wanted to try a different tea with each course, or if we wanted refills at all. The sandwiches were disappointing; one was made with what appeared to be store-bought swirl rye cut in a way that some of the crust was left on. The desserts were also disappointing. All in all, rather impersonal and uninviting. I am sorry to say that I will not return here.

      Tearoom response:

I am disappointed to read that you were unhappy with your visit. We do carry 7 decaffeinated teas plus over 25 herbal infusions that contain zero caffeine. While a second steeped tea will reduce the amount of caffeine present in a tea, it does not reduce it by enought to be considered decaffeinated. Also, some consider the taste of a second steeping to be inferior. For those reasons, we do not offer a second steeping, unless the customer requests us to do so. I apologize if your server did not indicate what our fresh soup of the day was as well as ask if you wanted another pot of tea. That is not up to our high standards and we have reminded all our servers of this. As to our savory tea sandwiches and varied desserts, I am sorry you found them disappointing. I wish something was said while you were in the tearoom so we could have addressed your concerns.

Dear Ladies, As a true Angophile, I was looking forward to the Talking Teacup immensely. My mostly nondrinking friends had given a good review of the place. I drink great gobs of tea everyday, brewed myself from leaf, and I know good tea. Everything here was truly average, except for their dessert, which was more like a blue child's birthday cake. When I tried to make a gentle suggestion to the proprietress, she cut me to the quick. P.S. The antique shop behind this establishment was great fun---go there and brew your own tea.

      Tearoom response:

I am sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We take great care in individually steaping each pot of tea and if ever a customer is unhappy with the tea strength or type of tea, we are happy to brew another pot or type of tea. Additionally, for dessert, which we make fresh, we've been serving a sampling of many flavors in each order. Our dessert order contains, raspberry and strawberry layer cakes, assoriated cheese puffs, tea infused sugar cookies, brownie bites and chocolate chip pound cake. All arranged in a savory sampling. I am sorry if none of those were to your liking.

After reading the reviews for this tea room, I decided to pay them a visit for High Tea. It was a visit I recommend you also do. From the moment I walked up to building, I felt I was visiting an dear old friend's house. Entering the cute gift shop afforded me the opportunity to relax and browse for a few moments while I waited for my friends to arrive. We then entered the main dining room and I was immediately struck by the comfortable, lovely decor. The Tea Room seemed less like a business and more like a warm welcoming home. Once seated at our table we were greeted by a very friendly and informative young lady who described what the day's specials were and was happy to answer our tea related questions. The food was deliciously fantastic and the tea was wonderfully warming. The scones were warm and tasty and the tea sandwiches were varied and each one was so savory. By the time our desserts were served we couldn't stop talking about how great everything was. I would highly recommend this tea room. Tea drinkers, coffee drinkers, foodies, men and women do yourself a favor and stop by for high tea. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This was my fourth time visiting this tea room and each time has been deliciously delightful. The soup was wonderful and the scones and tea sandwiches savory. As for the tea selection, unlike the previous reviewer, I find that their tea menu, containing over 65 different types of tea, offers a wide and complete selection. In fact, I couldn't decide which one to order this time, so instead I ordered a tea sampler. I was then presented a different type of tea with each food cource, 4 different delicious teas in all. What a wonderful way to go tea tasting! My friends, who ordered the more traditional individual pots of tea, said they'll all order the tea sampler next time.

We visited this tearoom in December and, althought it was good- since they are rated no. 3 out of 117- I guess I was expecting too much and was a little disappointed. For example, the tea selection seemed a bit on the limited side compared to some other tearooms we have visited. However, their gift shop is adorable and we picked up several little Christmas gifts which is wonderful. I am not saying I wouldn't go back- but I just think there is room for improvement.

After having several people tell me about this tea room, I finally found the time to make a reservation for lunch. It was a wonderful experience. These ladies know what they are doing. From the cute gift shop, to the comfortable seating arraingments, to an informative and attentive staff, to the tasty teas and the delicious food, this place is tea-rific! The wide choices of tea and the information available on the tea menu (yes they have a seperate tea menu!) pleased both the novice and the experienced tea drinkers in our group. We left with tummies full, spirits rejunivated, holiday shopping started and looking forward to our next visit in 2 weeks! Thank you ladies!

The Talking Teacup is the best! We had a birthday luncheon for Lois yesterday that was fabulous! We had such a good time and so enjoyed the wonderful food (that tomato bisque was awesome) and the friendly atmosphere. It's like stopping at Grandma's because you always make us feel so at home and the food's great. I can always count on The Talking teacup for special things that really count. It made Lois's day really memorable. Thank You!

I had a very nice High Tea with my co-workers at this tea room. We all completly enjoyed our food and sampling the many teas. Our waitress was so nice and the gift shop was an unexpected surprise! We all left agreeing we'll be back. At work, we now can't stop talking about the Talking Teacup!

Wow, what a great place! The tea selection is so complete and the ones we ordered were steeped to prefection and then the selection of scones were just so good. Just when we thought it couldn't get any tastier, out came the tea sandwiches followed by a very nice selection of sweets. Great food, lovely historic farmhouse setting, friendly service and a nice gift shop. This place capatures what makes Bucks County so special. We'll be back.

This Tea Room never fails to impress. The soup I savored on my most recent visit was out of this world delicious. It was a pumpkin soup, perfect for the season and the little bit of fall weather we've finally had. Of course the tea, sandwiches and scones were so yummy. I've brought many friends and neighbors to The Talking Teacup, it just feels like home...only with better food!

I can't say enough about this tea room. The owner and staff are so informative and nice, the food is simply delicious, well presented and plentiful and the tea is always steaped just right. And the tea choices, oh the choices are many and it's so fun trying new teas. And I just know I'll be getting alot of my Christmas shopping done in their gift shop this year!

After reading and see pictures about this tearoom in Fall issue of Bucks County Magazine, my friend and I just had to stop in and we're delighted that we did. The food was delicious and so nicely presented, we couldn't resist making a little purchase in the gift shop and we got to sit at the table in front of their lovely fireplace, the same one shown in the magazine! Thanks you ladies for a such a nice high tea lunch. It's places like this that make Bucks Beautiful!

I just learned of TeaMap and from it of the Talking Teacup. My son and I tried it out today. I was very pleased that they were able to adjust the selection of tea sandwiches to my vegetarian needs (three choices were vegetarian, and they were delicious!). The pallette of place settings/tablecloth etc. colors was pretty and soothing, and the shop selections had lovely and inexpensive gift items. I'll visit again.

I was a first time visitor to this tea room, having driven by many times and after hearing many goods things about it. I'm so glad I finally decided to stop in for some tea and lunch. I had the High Tea. The scones were so light and delicious and just baked warm and the chilled fruit soup was simply perfect for a hot summer day! Just when I thought it couldn't get any tastier, out came an assortment of tea sandwiches bursting with flavor. Lastly my friendly server cheerfully delivered a dessert...homemade tea cookies, brownies and more, which I brought home to my hubby to enjoy! This is now my new favorite place. Next time I'm going to try the Tea Tasting along with my lunch. Friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, great food, delicious tea and a rather nice gift shop. Perfect!

read the wonderful food review for this tea room in Out & About in my local newspaper. This place sounded so yummy that I decided to check them out. I invited one of my friends who loves tea and tea rooms to join me. We both found the service sensational (Anne our server and tea expert was great), the food fantastic and the tea terrific. A very nice surprise was the cute gift shop where we both purchased some talking teacup tea and I a lovely teapot. I can see why this place has received such nice reviews. We’ll be back and will probably sign up for some of their evening Special Events as well. Thanks ladies.

We have been coming to this wonderful tearoom for almost three years and we have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and it is a pleasant change to have iced tea instead of hot on a warm day. There were a delightful mix of people in the tearoom that day including a charming family of three little girls and their mother, who were having the time of their lives. If you get a chance, go on the tea trips with them. We have done both the ones locally and both trips overseas. Kathy and the ladies are wonderful people, who like to have fun. Come in from the cruel outside world and immerse yourself with a lovely cuppa and some delicious scones.

I've been there twice, and both times the owner seemed unhappy to have us there, and definetly NOT CHEERFUL! The waitresses were nice, but upon entering, both times we got an unfriendly once over, as if we weren't 'tearoom material'. I love to go there with my daughter, who's 3, she thinks it's the greatest! And she's the perfect lady when we're there. I've even been complimented by other ladies, saying how good she was. Maybe the owners have had poor experiences with children, but maybe they should get over it, before they loose customers. After all, they are our/your future tea drinkers.

On the good advice of a tea drinking, food loving friend, my daughter, mother and I visited this Tea Room this past saturday. It was nothing short of a fantastic Tea Time. We went with high expectations, enjoyed the best High Tea and completly enjoyed ourselves as well as the chit chat with the server and in the lovely gift shop with the owner's husband. The Tea was prepared perfectly and the Tea Menu was well organized and informative. I can understand why this tea room was selected Best of Philly and rated so high on this site. While we were there, every table was occupied and a little girl's birthday tea party was being held upstairs. During our visit, we felt welcomed, were encouraged to relax and my daughter was even allowed to visit the up stairs dress up room after the little girl's tea party was over. Thank you Teacup, we'll be back...soon..

My mother, sister, and I went here after reading the recommendations on this site. The scones, soup, and desserts were very good. The tea sandwiches were only average. We were not pleased with the service. The owner was rather brusque and our waitress was not very warm either. Maybe they were having a bad day but all three of us noticed it.

The place is charming, and the staff is pleasant. But I was disappointed with the preparation of the tea. It was very weak. Even the second pot of a different variety wasn't any more flavorful than the first. They both should have been steeped longer, and since that is done for you in the kitchen, it was not within your control, as I prefer. The tea sandwiches and soup were average. However, the scones were excellent.

I have been to the Talking Teacup countless times for tea with my mother and also to host fundraising events for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We have always had very friendly, accommodating service and enjoyed the atmosphere very much. Kathy and the crew have always been very kind and generous to our Relay for Life team, and have entertained our crowd for several years now. I fancy myself to be a bit of a Tea Room expert having been to many, many wonderful (and a few not so wonderful) establishments. The delight of visting them is they each have their own personality. I visited this establishment on Saturday and I must say it comes out on the very top of my list. First, the food, tastly and plentiful, was prepaired and presented absolutly perfectly. The tea selection was varied and interesting. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere made it feel like I was stopping by to visit a dear friend. As I listened in, briefly, to the conversations at the next table, it was obvious they too were enjoying their visit to this exceptioinal Tea Room. Ladies, keep up the great work!

While visiting my dear friend in Bucks County, she insisted we have lunch at 'The Teacup', claiming that I would really, really like it. It's amazing how well she knows me. I loved it! The food was among the most savory I've tasted and I've been blessed enough to spend some time tasting my way through Paris and Tuscany! The atmosphere, from the friendly wait staff, to the charming building, to the oh so cute I just had to buy something gift shop, perfectly complemented the food and tea and provided a very enjoyable backdrop to a lovely lunch with my dearest friend...or should I say a lovely High Tea!

High Tea at 'The Talking Tea Cup' far exceeded my expectations. There was a huge variety of teas to choose from and our knowledgable waitress introduced each of us to new and interestibg teas to try. Who knew tasting tea would be such an enjoyable adventure? The finger sandwiches and scones were delicious and the pumpkin soup was excellent! We were also very impressed with the refurbished homesite and decor. I just wanted you to know that if I could- I would give 'The Talking Teacup' 10 stars out of 5 in EVERY aspect!! My son and his wife gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. I have already told them that I would appreciate that gift again. My friend and I visited your tea room for the first time yesterday. The Talking Teacup is our NEW FAVORITE!!! Your staff was very pleasant, and we just felt so at ease and so comfortable in the dining room. We loved that the decorating wasn't 'over the top' and yet it was very lovely. The food was EXCELLENT- hot and delicious, and those apricot scones were to die for. Oh yummy!!! Thank you for a truly wonderful experience. Yesterday was my first trip to The Talking TeaCup. I enjoyed the tea sandwiches, but found the scones small. The soup offered was nothing interesting and the sweets could have been a bit bigger. On the good side, the staff was friendly, the tea sandwiches were delicious and the price was less then I have found at most tea rooms. The gift shop was lovely too! Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to visit!

I went to The Talking Teacup for the first time a year ago Jan 2005. It was so lovely - the ladies were extra sweet and nice. The food was delicious and plentyful. AND I KEEP COMING BACK. I just love this place. The country setting is comforting, warming and inviting. The ladies always make it feel like your home and they are so kind an pleasant. The High Tea is my favorite. Not sure why there are bad reviews - of all the places I have tried in this area - this is the BEST. You walk in and feel right at home. Talking Teacup keep up the good work and excellent tastes.

Spent a wonderful afternoon at this perfectly wonderful tea room. My friends and I had fun sampling each others tea selections. We voted the Matechino as the best, but the Earl Grey de la Creme was a very spirited second. We had complete consensus on the food. It was totally first rate and to die for delicious! The first course, the scones, were the very best we've ever tried and each course, from soup to salad to sandwiches kept getting better! I've been to this tearoom and was not impressed in the least. So it is stunning to me how a tearoom that has been listed for months now as having four stars is considered a TOP RATED stamp appearing next to its name when there are other tearooms with at least ten reviews how have five stars. My experience at this tearoom was anything but top rated!
