13228 Frank Rd, New Freedom, PA 17349, USA (717) 227-1254 Website Owner?

My Vision for The Joy Garden started in the spring of 1996. I wanted to create a special place where people could come and visit and find Joy in just being. I wanted to bring Joy to others as they celebrate life and the special moments each of us needs to honor and embrace in a daily journey of life. The garden represents the beauty of God's creation and the spiritual oneness of all life. Taking Tea warms my heart and speaks to my soul. It provides the opportunity to open yourself up to share love with others. Healing starts with Hope and brings forth Joy. I invite you to come and enjoy Tea in the Conservatory overlooking the garden and fountain or retreat and meditate in the prayer garden.

It's been a while since I was here and what a surprise I got when I entered the tearoom! What a beautiful job you did redecorating. I agree with the Aug 4th review that it is indeed elegant. Christmas Tea was wonderful, the food delicious as always and we all loved the raspberry-cranberry punch. We all received mini luminara's at the conclusion of tea, what's a perfect ending to a perfect day. Thank you Nancy for such a wonderful time.

Nancy has done a beautiful job redecorating her tea room. It is now very eligant in its silver and grey tones. It had been a while since I was there and I must say I was very happy this time. The Royal Tea Club picked a winner. I met three lovely ladies from Virginia and am looking forward to seeing them in November. The luncheon was wonderful and desserts were yummy.

What a perfect name for this Tea Room! In July I drove from Bedford County to the Joy Garden to meet friends for an afternoon tea. Upon arrival we all met in the most delightful gift shop and then walked together through a beautiful victorian garden toward what looked like a conservatory. Just before entering the tea room there was a fountain and an array of blooming flowers. The tea room was indeed inside the conservatory and was bright and cheerful. We started our hot summer day with an iced mojito tea while cooling off and selecting our hot tea selections. The tea menu had all varieties and flavors of teas. We selected a blueberry/vanilla black tea and a pineapple white tea and both were brewed perfectly and so tasty. We started our tea with a lite salad of greens, fruits and berries. The homemade scones and the unique selection of tea sandwiches that followed were not only delicious but presented in such a fashion that they were worthy of picture taking. We leisurely enjoyed the food while sipping our tea and catching up on each other's lives. The servers at the tea room were friendly and cheerful and beautiful -- just like the Joy Garden. To finish our meal we were served raspberry sorbet surrounded by bite sized pastries. We selected a chocolate/strawberry dessert tea for this. Somehow almost 3 hours had gone by and it was time to say good-bye. We all agreed that we should take time to meet here again. It was worth the trip. May God continue to bless The Joy Garden owners and staff as they serve others at this beautiful place.

It is so worth going here just to see the gardens and to have a nice tea also.

My grandson gave me money for Christmas to take a friend to tea with me. I had been here 2xs previously but wasn't fortunate to go when the roses were blooming. What a luscious welcome to a truly delightful tea. I had been pleased on my previous visits but this one was the icing on the cake. The fresh fruit salad, scones, sandwiches were delicious & the desserts were the best I've had at this tea room. The gift shop has some very attractive items & I came home with 2 teas & a new scarf. Thanks so much to Nancy & staff who were very efficient. Phyllis 05/25/12

We celebrated a combination birthday/Mother's Day at the Joy Garden. Nancy is always willing to honor our request for a vegetarian menu. Her scones are superb. Her egg salad must be the world's best. The lavender lemon tarts for dessert were luscious. The tea selection is also outstanding, and it is great to be able to purchase our favorites to take home. The Joy Garden is a haven for peace and serenity which we enjoy as often as we can.

This is my favorite tearoom of all and I always find it so peaceful and relaxing there. Nancy's scones are the best around, and her selection of teas is wonderful. I really appreciate that she always has decaf teas available particularly the roobois teas and in many flavors which are always brewed to perfection.Food selection changes with the seasons so you can return several times a year and have a different menu. The setting is picturesque and I always look forward to returning. Love it!

I went with a group of friends several years ago and was treated terribly. I was berated loudly because one member of our party was sick and could not attend even though I had offered to pay for her tea. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK - nasty owner

We absolutely LOVE this tearoom! My mom, my daughter and I have started a tradition of going each August to begin the new school year. We have visited many other places and always come back to the Joy Garden. Nancy always has wonderful food to serve in a fantastic setting!

Today was the first time I have been to Joy Garden Teahouse. I took my friend there for her birthday. I must say, we were so delighted, I know we will be back - with friends in tow! We started with mojito iced tea, which was wonderful, then progressed to chilled cantaloupe soup, scones, petit fours and dessert, all served on lovely flowered china. We chose a pot of chocolate mint tea to sip throughout the meal. Really, we couldn't decide which was better, the ambiance, service or food - hmmm, decisions ~~~

I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday at Joy Garden. The staff made it a very special day with their thoughtfulness and excellent service. The tomato basil soup was the best I've ever tasted. All the food was delicious, but the roasted veggie sandwich and the egg salad were outstanding. I appreciated all the special touches which enhanced my visit to Joy Garden and look forward to returning in November.

This was without a doubt the most extraordinary tea experience I've had in many years! Everything was done to PERFECTION and the ambiance is like merry ole England and the gardens are so lovely! I made another reservation to celebrate my mother's 84th birthday!

Months of planning and finally the day arrived for our mini class reunion. My classmates of years gone by and I enjoyed our time at the Joy Garden. The atmosphere was just right. We did not feel rushed and everyone was sooooo friendly. The service was impeccable and our server Madeline was knowledgeable of her tea facts (I was impressed). After tea time had ended Nancy assured us that my guests and I could take all the time we needed to look at our year book and have a few laughs. I truly appreciate all Nancy did to make our mini reunion a success.

I went with my mother, sister, and sister-in-law last year around mother's day and had a really wonderful time. The garden and the tea room were very pretty and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. I remember we were served lavender scones with lavender jelly which I thought very unusual, but liked it very much. The food was all very good and we had a chocolate mint dessert tea that was also very different but good as well. Nice selection of teas to choose from. I recommend it highly.

Each year when we visit my mom for her birthday, I take her to a tea room. The place we had planned to go was unable to accommodate us, and at the 11th hour, Nancy made room for our little trio. I was disappointed to not be in the tea room itself, until they took us to the gazebo! With scents from the rose garden wafting up to us, and the view of rolling fields beyond, we were enchanted! The table ware was of higher quality than some tea rooms I have visited, and, although I notice details and have found other rooms lacking, I could find no fault with anything at all. There was an extensive tea list, and our hosts were most attentive (although not TOO attentive!), even though their entire tea room was booked for a private party. The teas were brewed 'just right,' the cool cantaloupe soup was refreshing (even though I didn't expect to like it!), there was a nice variety of tea sandwiches, and 3 types of dessert offered. (I might have liked a less-sweet choice, but this is a personal preference). To top it all off, Nancy and Tim were ready to accommodate my mom's limited physical mobility; Tim met us at the car with a golf cart which whisked us to the gazebo, and then to the boutique at the end of our visit. (I should note that there is a single, large, step up in the bathroom. While this was not prohibitive to my mother, it might be for some.) Thanks so much for making our tea and Mom's special day so memorable!

Great Tea Room! The service, surroundings, decor, etc. were all so beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. For the person who gave this Tea Room a low mark because someone in her party did not show up to the tea, well, I have been to many many tea rooms and if you make a reservation and cannot make the event, then you HAVE to pay anyway. The tea room hostess can box up the items that you did not eat and you can bring them home with you, but you ALWAYS have to pay for the tea if you or someone in your party cannot attend. But anyway, I would put this tea room in the top 5 that I have been to. I highly recommend this tea room.

My friends and I visited this tea room a few years ago and will never go back. One of the guests was unable to attend at the last minute and the owner of the tea room gave me a very hard time about it.

This tea room offers a large variety of teas and all of them regular or decaf.. for a breastfeeding Mom this was great. The lunch delicious.. fresh greens salad with fruit, walnuts and raspberry ving dressing, 4 kinds of tea sandwiches which were all awesome. The scones were cherry and they were so light and melted in your mouth. Dessert was a small sampler of 4 things and they were all wonderful. Something for everyone at this tea room. The gardens were beautiful with lots of blooming flowers. This was my second visit and I will be sure to return for many more tea luncheons.

On 9/7/07 two very dear friends and I enjoyed a most delightful afternoon at your 'tea room'. Nothing could have been any finer, the variety of teas was truly excellent, the food was beautifully presented and very good also. The decor was extremely appealing to the eye and the service was 'top of the line'. We also visited your boutique and found many lovely items including being able to purchase a package of our favorite tea. Mine was the chocolate strawberry. We will be back and that's a promise. Thank you

The atmoshpere is so peaceful here, inside and out. Everyone is so welcoming especially the owner. You feel as if you are the only ones there. The cold tea was wonderful on a warm day along with the hot tea flavors including the garden tea. The food was impeccable. My friends and I have frequented many tearooms and this is my favorite. Thanks so much for your personal touch!!!

I adore The Joy Garden!! I have visited several tea rooms in the area and The Joy Garden is my favorite for decor, ambiance, service and yummy tea! After being overwhelmed by the charm of the conservatory and surrounding gardens, we were even more taken aback by the kindness or our hostess. The variety of teas was astounding and the ones we tried were all delicious! The gift shop was full of charming items at very reasonable prices. If you are looking for a serene, comforting place to enjoy a delicious lunch, I highly recommend the Joy Garden.
