The Victorian Parlor
I have been to many tea rooms, both around the area and in other states. As a former manager of a 5 star b and b in Gettysburg that also served high tea for special occasions, my standards are very high, I am very particular, and I have specific food allegies. So, going anywhere can sometimes be a pain. The Victorian Parlor has now moved to the top of my list!! Presentation is key to me and the VP has thought of everything. The decor takes one from the bustling 2010 back to the 1800's as soon as you enter the back gate. Paula is quick to point out the photos of ancestors all about and allows time to brouse before and after your tea. There is so much to take in, all of it lovely and perfectly placed. Many beautiful things are for sale; tea cups and pots, jewelry and scarves, books and note cards, the list goes on. Fancy hats are available to make a girl feel even more special than she did just by coming here. Paula and Daryl are most gracious hosts and are available to tell stories or answer questions, and they know when to allow guests their private time. The FOOD!!!! There are not enough words or space to tell you all about it. Delicious, decadent, mouth-watering, plentiful, perfect presentation, etc., I could go on and on. (I think I already have). I took a friend for her birthday and they made the whole experience a celebration...and a dessert in the middle of a meal (YUM). Not only would I go back but I will tell everyone I know that this is the place!! I'm looking forward to later in the spring, when all the flowers are in bloom, so I can sit outside in the gazebo or under an umbrella and have tea with my husband (yes, there is even enough food for a man!) or another special friend. Thank you Paula and Daryl...you sure got it right !!
