August Tea Room
I wanted to surprise my mother and take her to tea in celebration of her birthday. Having only ever experienced a tea service at our family friends’ parlor, I relied on customer reviews and tearoom websites to make my decision. What a delightful find! The room was very welcoming and comfy; filled with a variety of arm chairs and furniture which lent to its cozy feel. I loved the eclectic collection of china cabinets all stocked with mismatched cups and saucers. The staff was so welcoming, friendly, and made us feel very special to be there – as if we were having tea in the living room of a close friend. My mother and I shared the “Lady Lety’s Royal Tea”, which was a delectable 5 course tea service. Our server (who was incredibly knowledgeable about all the teas) presented us with a tray of the special offerings of the day (in addition to the wide variety available on the menu) and we chose the Borengajuli from India. We enjoyed a wonderful salad of greens, candied pecans, goat cheese, and plum tomatoes with raspberry vinaigrette. Next was the yummy potato soup followed by tea sandwiches (cucumber & cream cheese, olive spread, egg salad, and chicken salad). The staff was incredibly attentive (but not intrusive) and kept our teapot full, allowing us to have good mom & daughter conversation. We had a plate of scones followed by petit fours. The entire presentation was beautiful. She even took our photo and gave us copies. I cannot fully express what a pleasant and very memorable experience this was. I enjoyed having a delicious, leisurely (over 2 hours & 4 pots later!) tea. It is obvious that the tearoom is her love, and that she enjoys sharing it with her guests. I’m so happy to have found August Tea Room! We will definitely be coming back Thank you Lety and staff for making this visit an incredibly special experience for my mom and I to share!
