Sophia's Garden Tea Room
I really wanted to like this tea room, but I will probably not be back. It's stuck in the corner of an antiques mall, which is fine, but it feels like an afterthought, rather than a fully-integrated part of the place, In fact, I couldn't even see it at first! The lady running it (she served and cooked, or, ok, reheated in the microwave some dishes) was nice. Her (I assume) daughter and grandkids came to visit her, so it makes me feel mean-spirited to write anything negative, but I feel like I should be honest. Here is my experience: 1) the soup had a very strange taste. Sour, almost bitter. It was supposed to be cream of potato, but I have never had cream of potato soup like that. 2)There was a hair in my tiny scoop of potato salad. Perhaps an eyelash? 3)The sandwich I could have made at home: cheap wheat sandwich bread, brown-edged lettuce, and sliced American process cheese (think Kraft Singles). Disappointing. The tea itself was decaf Constant Comment, which was OK. There was just something overwhelmingly sad about the whole enterprise. I considered getting a dessert, but ultimately decided against it, given the quality of the other food. Disappointing.
