I've been to several tea rooms in California, many of which required a reservation and were 'world renowned'. Tana Lee's 'Tea and Sympathy' in Bastrop, TX outshines them all. My daughter and I ran across this tea room when we were 'window shopping' in Bastrop and decided to 'duck in' from the cool weather to have a cup of tea. The proprietor was wonderfully warm,hospitable and entertaining. The tea was excellent...and the scones were the best I've ever had. The atomosphere is very warm and cozy and if I had a chance to go every day, I would. As it is, I'll just have to settle for a Saturday or two a month. If you are ever in the neighborhood, take some time to drop in, you will enjoy every second!
