The Victorian Parlor
I had purchased gift certificates for my 2 sisters and our mom for Christmas last year. We finally got everyone together to visit this lovely tearoom on November 3. We had a relaxing and fun experience. First of all, the tearoom is beautiful. There are 2 dining areas; the large area was decorated for autumn at the time, and another was decorated with beautiful peacock accessories. It is a stunning room, and I am now redecorating with this theme in my own dining room, although I know I won't duplicate the beauty of Paula's touch. The large dining area was so pretty too, and I am sure it would be gorgeous during the Christmas season and other times. Paula was so dear and accomodating, giving us a tour of the rooms plus explaining the interesting family history of the old photographs on the walls. We chose our hats to wear during the tea and that set the tone for the 4 of us to relax and laugh together. We had a delicious 6-course meal along with blackberry and cinnamon teas. We had a fresh fruit salad, a selection of different tea pastries and scones with Devonshire cream, fresh salad, hot creamy tomato basil soup, an assortment of tea sandwiches, and a dessert of cake. We were full by the middle of the tea, but continued to indulge in the delicious meal. It was so refreshing to sit and relax in such a beautiful setting. Paula's husband, Daryl, was a great host as well. There is a shopping area on the enclosed porch with lots of neat things you could purchase. Even the powder room was a sight for tired eyes...very beautiful with the lavender tones. We would definitely return to this tearoom. The outside gardens were so pretty too, and I am sure during the spring and summer it is great to sit out there as well. The whole experience made us feel extra special that day.
