We came during their opening week. The room was cute, but the description we were given on the phone was that it was Alice in Wonderland theme and looked wild and crazy. So expecting that fun we were a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's cute but I spent my time thinking hmmm, this doesn't seem over the top? And I couldn't figure out why they would cover those beautiful chandeliers with the shades. Nonetheless, the food was good, however while I am used to tea foods being tiny, I thought the amount of food was extremely small for the price of it. The fairy cakes were tasty indeed though. There was a bit of chaos between the front register cashier needing instruction from the back cashier (which I didn't understand why they needed two cash registers). It's in a good space in Ghiradelli Square and gets quite a bit of foot traffic so I'm certain they will be around for a while. Perhaps some fine tuning/time and we will return.

    Tearoom response:

    Hi Katie,

Thank you for your review on Tea Map. The first one!!

I am so sorry that someone described the salon as 'Alice in Wonderland' in theme. It really doesn't have a theme. It's just a look created from various influences that my husband and I have loved over the years and from our travels.

We have now been open 2 months and all ready we have learned so much. Changes have been made, things added to the menu, computer dramas worked out etc...it is all a learning process! You were one of the brave ones to come in in the first week!!

I really hope you give us another try soon. Being in the restaurant business is a evolving process all the time, we learned that very quickly! So we are always 'fine tuning!

By the way, we have two cash registers because we have a retail store as well as the tea salon.

Thank you once again for your review and comments.

    Take care,

    Amy Dean
