I had the pleasure of taking my granddaughter to her first tea on her fourth birthday. A special little birthday gift was waiting at her place setting, and Barbara gave her a feathery, glittery princess birthday crown as well. I honestly didn't think my granddaughter would have the patience to sit more than 30 minutes, but our tea time lasted a full, leisurely hour thanks to all the dainty foods (hurrah for chocolate-dipped strawberries!) and her very own small teapot of pink lemonade. The food was tasty and ample--I had to bring leftovers home. In all honesty, I have had better tea sandwiches elsewhere, but for all the other wonderful goodies (fresh fruit, amazing scones, delicious salad), I can hardly complain. The atmosphere at Barbara's Victorian Tea House is just lovely. Our room was airy and bright, and after lunch, we enjoyed going upstairs and looking through the boutique. You'd think my granddaughter would have had enough of this tea business by then, but no--she and I had a 'play' tea party upstairs too! Barbara went all out for us--even singing to the Birthday Girl. I was offered several kinds of tea to sample, including a wonderful Apricot Cream tea and a Chocolate-Vanilla dessert tea. That was fun! All in all, a charming and magical day. I'll be back!
