Lovejoy's Tea Room
My friend and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at Lovejoy's today. Their loose leaf tea is fresh and delicious. We had a pot of China Rose Petal and Decaf Earl Grey. I liked the rose petal tea so much I bought a tin of it at their cute shop across the street. Our tea for two came with a choice of 4 sandwiches, green salad and coleslaw, scones and shortbread cookies. They serve real Devon cream, something which too many tea rooms skimp on. The sandwiches were very fresh with tasty fillings. Of the many choices, we had roast beef with horseradish, chicken and asparagus, smoked salmon and cream cheese and pear and Stilton. The atmosphere is very charming with lace covered tables and pretty mix and match china. It is somewhat loud but I think that is a testiment to how popular it is and how much fun everyone was having.
