On our way from Maryland to Florida, my sister, daughter in law and I had the pleasure of stopping off at a few tea rooms we found on this site. We were very excited to see that this was ranked #1. Although some of the previous reviews were not outstanding, the reputation of this tea room is obviously great. Our review is that the ranking of #1 is probably not deserved. While the food was tasty, there was not much variety and as a previous reviewer noted a lot of flavored cream cheese. Also, we are not impressed with the use of sprinkles (jimmies) as means to 'liven up' the desserts on a tea service. However, a one star review is also not deserved. We found the staff to be very friendly and the restaurant itself was charming. We had a pleasant time, over all. I would say that this tea room is about average for what you would expect. It is not nearly on the same level with Chelsea's in Asheville, The Wilmington Tea Room in Wilmingon, NC, or High Tea at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, SC. One option is to skip the food and just enjoy a delicious cup of tea in the lovely surroundings.
