I was surprised to read all of the great reviews for this tea room. I came on a Sunday afternoon with my mother after shopping in Flemington and recieved extremely poor service. I have been to many tea rooms before and I do realize the time that it takes to prepare an actual tea service so I was also taking that into consideration during my lunch. We both ordered tea which took quite some time to actually arrive to the table. Usually a very patient diner I didn't mind this. However, noticing that it was really not that busy and that there were plenty of service people staffed I became more disturbed by the incrementally increasing amount of time it took for our order to be taken and then for our food to actually come. Still patient and curious to satisfy a sweet tooth we asked to see a dessert menu. After having decided which desserts we would order our service person did not come back to the table. After twenty minutes had passed my mother went to ask for the check, which in turn took about another twenty minutes to get taken care of. The food was OK and the dessert...well I never got to taste it so I can't say. It's a shame to go to what is ranked as being the number one tea room in NJ and be so dissapointed. Bad service can ruin an entire experience.
