We were very disapointed with The British Pantry in Aldie. The service was below par, it took a total of two hours to have our lunch, the beef stew was non remarkable and stodgy, and I was served the smallest piece of pudding I have had in my life. The British middle aged women in the store was more than unfriendly and when I arrived home I realised that the bacon and crisps I had purchased were all way out of date, not good businees and we shall not be returning.
In responce to your dislike of my cafe I would like to say that you came on a very busy day with out a reservation and were told, yes we could acomadate you but it would take a little time, you said OK, The Beef stew is made to a old British standard and is not stodge, that is how it is supposed to be. The Desert you had is a little on the small side, I agree, we used to serve a larger one but found some was always left because it is a rich pudding served with custard or Clotted cream, if you had asked for more we would have willingly given you some, so sorry you found my Cafe disapointing,it would have been nice if you had discussed your disapointment with us before leaving, maybe we could have done something about it!
Sincerely
Gerri Middleton
