When my husband Gene and I were in the mood for a nice cup of tea to refresh our spirits and take away the gloom of a late January afternoon, we were fortunate to find the Cosy Cupboard Tea Room on Old Turnpike Road in scenic Morritown. Little did we know what a rare treat lay in store for us. Not only did we find the delicious and soothing tea we were seeking, we also discovered a magical place where beauty reigned and good taste ruled the day. We were greeted by James, the warm and friendly proprietor, who treated us like old friends and in the course of an enriching, delightful conversation quoted Henry James, shared stories about his amazing family, and introduced us to one of his friends, a beautiful woman and former M.D., Unjeria Jackson, who recently wrote a book about her personal collection of over 10,000 teapots. Her book, Teapots by Design, was so artistically pleasing and so well-researched that we purchased a copy. We highly recommend it for any tea lover who also enjoys collecting. Basking in the warmth of good conversation, and comforting cups of tea, Gene and I felt as if we entered Victorian England, as we enjoyed our feast of home-made soup, sandwiches, and savory scones hot from the oven. Everything was served on Royal Albert fine china by Annabella, our most helpful and friendly server. We highly recommend the Cosy Cupboard Tea Room to anyone who longs for a warmly lit space where elegance and charm await to please. Our experience there was one we will long savor and hopefully share again with friends.
