Tea on the Tiber In a quaint little tea house, By the side of a rocky stream, One can sit by the embers And have scones with English cream. The rustic train's rumble, Down the street by the way, Brings thoughts quite nostalgic, To the far side of yesterday! China painted in pink roses, Doilies with white lace, Tea pots and lemon curd, All over the place! Ladies perfect in their aprons, Compliment an atmosphere of ease, And the tiered tray of delicacies, Is apt always to please! Upstairs in the library, Or downstairs in the parlor, Maybe in the sunroom Or on to deck near the water, No matter the season Or the day one might call, The experience is lasting, For one and for all! So walk near the granite, And watch the Tiber trickle by, 'Neath a little stone foot bridge, Then you soon will see why, Tea on the Tiber Is as picturesque as can be, It adds flavor to an afternoon, To sit there for tea!
