  • The Victorian Parlor

Very clean. Very pretty. Gift shop on premises. Gift items very reasonably priced. We had orange spice tea and vanilla tea for our first course. We were served a poppy seed salad for the second course. Third course: scones, cinamon pastries, chocolate mint confections, and a fruit pastry. Fourth course a delicious beef soup with what tasted like delicious old fashioned home made noodles. I didn't ask because I was to distracted by the sumptuous flavor! It must have been made with fresh beef. No bullion or base could have tasted that perfect. Fifth course was spinach quiche and a delicious ham and cheese tea sandwich. Finally for my 18 year old's birthday and our sixth course we were given our choice of two types of cake. My girl's was delivered with a sparkling candle and a teddy bear that sang a funny happy birthday song to her. (What a blessing - she didn't have to be embarassed by my singing publicly!) There was a good variety of food and all was so fresh and delicious. Pastry was flaky and cakes were moist and fluffy. Salad was fresh and crisp. The Victorian Parlor is located in the first house built in town, we were told. It has been lovingly cared for and is decorated in a Victorian style. There are hats avilable for picture moments. It was quiet and relaxed. We dressed in dresses, but you can come casual and not feel out of place. You can make it as formal as you like also. There was ample blacktop parking in the back of the shop, as well as metered parking on the street in front of the teahouse. The owner was so kind and tended to our needs. She stopped what she was doing to greet us when we entered. She brought food and gave us the description of each item and didn't linger. If we had a question she took time to answer. She read our needs very well and didn't intrude, yet met our needs sufficiently. We were all full and pleased when we left. We enjoyed shopping and then looking at the beautiful back yard with a gazebo, goldfish pond, and terrace area. I came here years ago as part of a tea tour and was glad to find it on the internet to come visit today.

    Tearoom response:
