Captain's Cottage
Captain's Cottage has been a treasured haunt for the female members of my family for years. We have hosted an intimate bridal shower for my sister-in-law in the Captain's Room and given each other numerous 'gift certificates' at birthday or mother's day time. The atmosphere is intimate, cozy and delicate. The decor is an attractive and ecclectic mix of pieces, with many fun items to purchase (both tea related and otherwise) nestled in the nooks and cranies. 'The Captain' is a very real presence in the tea room, with the pleasant staff more than willing to discuss his last voyage or his favorite tea with you. Each person selects their own loose tea, with an array of green, black, estate, and even an herbal tea that works for those who must avoid caffeine. The food is appropriate 'tea' food with delicious lemon curd, jam, and devonshire cream accompanying the first course, followed by tea sandwiches, savories, and fun desserts. You leave satiated. I've been to many tea rooms throughout the Bay Area, but this is my favorite one.
