My wife and I recently enjoyed tea at the Calabash Garden Tea Room. This was my first time in a Tea Room, and I was pleasantly surprised. We both enjoyed the ambiance and delicious food and tea. There was ample food to satisfy me; I particularly liked the tomato bisque. We have already planned our next visit. We highly recommend.
I too travel and frequent many tea rooms through out the country and was very disappointed in this tea room. The atmosphere was very nice enough but the food selection on the afternoon tea tier was extremely poor. The scones were without taste and the dessert consisted of four petit fors that could have been purchased just about anywhere and a bowl of berries. Not very creative and not much variety for having a pastry chef on staff. We did not get a thanks or even asked by the hostess, who I assume was the owner, after we paid, if we enjoyed our lunch. It appeared that most of the people there were having the other menu options.
