Mitties has moved, over 4 years ago, from this location and is called Mitties at Plum and Green. It has been my favorite place to have lunch and tea in Atlanta. That mean man is said to be gone and the service is outstanding now ...April served us and was a delight!

I have been to 'High Tea' in London and in Victoria, Canada. While I understand it would be hard to duplicate here, I was expecting something at least similar. I wish I had read these reviews first, because I took my sister for her first time. The 'tea' was hot water that we poured ourselves over tea bags. The mediocre food was served on a lunch plate for each of us. Most of the desserts were pretty good and served on a nice two-tiered platter, but were straight from Sam's. For $20 a plate, I expected far more. And then they added a 20% gratuity for two people! I won't be going back.

I wish that I had read these reviews before I made reservations and visited Mittie's with friends. I hosted several friends for a Valentines tea, and I am so embarassed that I chose Mittie's for their first tea experience. We felt like inconveniences as soon as we walked in the door. The hostess was rude to us and her staff. The tea selection was poor and I could have served a better selection and treated my friends with better customer service if I had hosted them in my home. There was nothing exceptional about Mittie's except the unbelievable rudeness with which we were treated. It was totally overpriced and they will certainly never get our business again. I will make it a point to tell all of my friends not to waste their time at Mittie's unless it becomes under new management.

Charged an 18% gratuity for 2 person party when menu stated charge was for 5 persons or more--the manager did not acknowledge the mistake, but offered an evasive response. There was a separate charge for tea even though tea service was supposed to include tea. Manager was rude and belligerent when this was mentioned. Staff was in jeans and t-shirts. The interior looked run-down and shabby. We overheard other customers complaining about the service as well. Food was not fresh or homemade. It tasted fine but for $20 a plate, was really sparse. I wouldn't visit again. I would recommend getting tea elsewhere.

The ownership of this restaraunt have obviously shown little in keeping the quality that was once the 'shining star' of the Roswell area. They apparently are too focused on other business, which they are not good at either! We won't be back!

I booked a Bridal Luncheon at Mitties a couple weeks ago and everything was great. Our server greated us immediately upon arrival, our food was served in a timely mannor and I just loved the way it was presented. Especially the desserts on the teired plates. Being the coordinator, I didn't have to frett about anytihng and best of all my guests fully enjoyed themselves. Mitties took care of everything. I would highly recommend dining there.

I have lived in Roswell and Alpharetta for many years. I have been to BOTH locations for Mitties. Back in the day, the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was great and it was the place to go. I am sad to say that it has gone completely down hill. I don't even suggest going there now with my girlfriends for lunch. The last time I went for my dear friends birthday, we waited for over an hour for our food on a weekday for a party of 4! We watched other people seated after us get served and leave before we ever saw a morsel! When we complained to our server she brought us out some complimentary crab bisque to tie us over. Then the manager came over and said she would have to charge us for the crab bisque because the waitress 'had no permission to give us free food.' They obviously have some serious issues with execution at this point. I don't know how they are still in business.

I attended a baby shower at this tearoom yesterday and was disappointed on all levels. The most obvious deficiency was the lack of air conditioning. The entire party of twelve women, including one who is eight months pregnant, was sweltering in 95 degree heat, with a small portable air conditioner providing no relief. Upon contacting the manager to ask if they were aware of the air conditioning situation, I was informed that they had been aware of the issue and had been trying to fix it for a few days. Unfortunately, no apology was offered and the manager did not seem to think it was appropriate to inform the party ahead of time about this situation. In comparison to other tearooms, I found the food to be mediocre and not representative of a real tea room experience. The sandwiches and desserts were not freshly prepared, and obviously originated from frozen, pre-packaged sources. The tea selection was limited to a handful of tea bags pre-set on the table. The service was unfriendly and no one came by to check on the party. Overall I would not recommend this tearoom, especially if you are planning a special event.

To advertise a high tea and then serve only tea in bags instead of good quality tea, NO scones, deserts that were bought at Sam's -is certainly lacking to be a high tea. I have been to many tea rooms throughout the USA - I would not return.

The high tea was everything thing I expected and more!!! I was served a variety of food on the lunch plate just to name a few, spinach and portabello quiche, to die for chicken salad on a croissant and fresh fruit. Then we were presented with a three tier dessert tray that had a wonderful assortment of bite size treats. You leave satisfied and sooo full!!!

15 friends gathered for afternoon tea. The service we received was delightful, friendly and prompt. We were served a pretty-looking tray with a good cucumber sandwich, a muffin and chocolate strawberry- all delicious. However, I was terribly disappointed with the rubbery cookie-like item when scones were promised. Shame on you for putting out bought,half-frozen cream puffs and pre-made spiral sandwiches. Mittie Bulloch Roosevelt would NOT approve of her namesake tea room serving anything but homemade, southern excellence! Nor were the cafeteria style tea cups appropriate for bearing Mittie's name. I hope in this darling location, to see Mitties live up to it's reputation as a gem in our community.

I am new to Roswell and took an out-of-town friend to Mittie's for High Tea. We were sorely disappointed by the offerings. The $18.95 per person High Tea included only tea bags, not a pot of tea. A pot of tea for two averaged an additional $7.50. The crust of the quiche was rubbery and limp. The 'assortment of scones, sweet breads, and other sweet treats' advertised on the website did not in fact include scones, and the small 'sweet treats' all appeared to be store-bought; many were still partially frozen.

Recently visited Mitties Tea Room in Roswell. It seemed more spacious and calm than the past locations. I went with a friend and we enjoyed the food (so delicious and different than any other restaurant)and the ambience which is English country cottage. The waitress was friendly and we were greeted and bade goodbye! Who does that anymore?

I'm afraid I was dissappointed in the Roswell Mittie's. I had decided what I wanted based on the menu from their website, but when I arrived, the menu was not the same. They didn't have the chocolate chai and they didn't have roasted potatoes and fruit with the brakfast aas stated on-line. I wonder if that was the menu for the Alpharetta restaurant. It just wasn't anything special as I had hoped a tearoom would be. I'd rather drive the extra 10 miles and go to the Tea Leaves and Thyme tearoom in Woodstock if I want to take friends somewhere special. Otherwise, it's a nice restaurant.

I went to eat at Mitties a couple weeks ago and sat outside. It was very hot so the owner brought out a fan and turned it toward us. I thought that was very kind of them to do. The food was brought out very quickly and was excellent. Needless to say I will definutely be going back there for lunch.

What a disappointing experience for a 'tea room.' The food was average - The menu was more extensive than I expected. As for ordering tea, my wife and I asked for a pot of English Breakfast. The server arrived with a pot of water and one tea bag. No milk, no sugar. We had to ask three times for milk and sugar, and by the time we got some, the water was practically cold. Having had afternoon tea at some outstanding places, Mittie's was a complete letdown.

i worked at mittie's when i was a teenager and the quality of the food was always excellent. though it has been a while since i've been in i wanted to say that the food was always top quality and absolutly wonderful. i simply cannot wait for the norcross location to open so that i can renew my love for the desserts.

Make sure you have cash or your checkbook because the credit card machine is broken much of the time! Other than that inconvenience, the food is really good.

I wanted to apologize for the nasty review I last submitted. After eating the chicken salad with blue cheese, I went to my doctor. He informed me that I have developed an allergy to lactose, which explains my reaction to the chicken salad. Once again, I apologize for my last comment. I was simply upset, and over reacting.

I had the chicken salad with a blue cheese dressing one afternoon at Mittie's tea room. I'm pretty sure the dressing was spoiled, I was sick the rest of that same day vomiting and suffering from sharp pains in my stomach. I think I had gotten some kind of food poisoning. I will never eat at this so-called cafe again and would advise anyone else thinking of trying this place not to .

This is a great tea room with one major exception. Scones. Their scones are really, really bad. They are really biscotti shaped like scones. I would be back here every weekend, but for the scones. I beg you to get some real scones with cream and jam for a proper tea. Otherwise, you all are amazing.

I came by on Saturday at 3:30 for a pot of tea and was told they were closed due to lack of food. I indicated I only wanted a pot of tea and was told that would be fine, and was seated. Three minutes after my tea arrived, I was told they were closing. I gulped down my tea and got out my credit card, only to be told the credit card machine was broken. I had no cash on me, so the loose lemongrasss tea I had selected to take home with me was unceremoniously removed from the table. What a terrible experience. I was horrified. I will never return, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

My monthly tea group decided to give Mittie's new Roswell location another chance and were glad we did. The tea selection, which was rather lacking in our last visit (bags), was outstanding! Lots of really interesting herbal blends and tissanes. The food was great, the chicken salad was particularly good. Our group was a bit disappointed by the small scones, but again, every tea room is different. The waitress was very accomodating and attentive, even with two huge bridal/baby showers happening around us. Cheers to the new Mittie's!

Just wanted to express our thanks to Catherine last Wednesday at lunch. My granddaughter Lexi loves Mitties. She is 9 and thinks the grilled chicken sandwich was the 'bomb'. When we arrived we discovered it wasn't on the menu...not to worry as Catherine came to the table and talked to Lexi directly (just like she was an adult) and they came up with a solution through question and answers. Catherine decided she needed the peach chicken without the peach and the balsamic dressing on the side. Well let me tell you Lexi was in heaven. It made her day! We just wanted her to know how special it made our outing. Also, the carrot cake is undescribely delicious. We were able to talk her out of a 1/2 cake and it was great!

I enjoyed my lunch at Mittie's, but just a suggestion, crepes were overcooked and stingy for nearly $10.00. Fantastic service by young man - can't remember his name.

      Tearoom response:

Fran, I wish we had the opportunity to make your visit GREAT. Please ask for the manager on duty if you ever have any questions or complaints so we may make your dining a GREAT experience.<BR> Catherine

Jimmy did a fantastic job as our waiter today! Our tea glasses were always filled, you definitely had lobster bisque and it was yummy, and the food was beautifully presented and tasted great. I was very happy. I saw Lynn behind the counter. The redhead hostess was great too. Thanks again for the gift certificate!

We had my daughter's 7th birthday party at Mittie's. They were very well organized, helpful, smiling all the time. They served very nice tea sandwiches/cookies along w/tea and lemonade for the girls. They all had a ball. I returned to a clean house w/ a very happy child. I really like the new location as it is much spacier than the old one. The patio is very comfortable and relaxing. We had a very good experience and I will keep going there for lunch w/my friends and family.

      Tearoom response:

It truly was our pleasure to serve your party, we had a great time doing so. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make your daughter's birthday one to remember. - Catherine

Mittie's, New and Improved! My name is Lynn Brooks. I am the original owner and creator of Mittie's Tea Room. I am writing to apologize for any unpleasant experience you may have had since last October. Due to parking restrictions, at our old location, we moved 4 blocks north and were not as prepared as we should have been for the inevitable bumps in the road. We have returned to the same great food and friendly service which has kept us in business for the past 20 years. To those of you who requested more Tea choices, we heard you and have added 30 varieties of loose delicate teas from all over the globe (and a few herbal blends of our own)! A few footnotes, Mitties has gone organic; soups, salads, and entrées are now made with organic vegetables and ingredients. Mittie's only uses pesticide and hormone free poultry and dairy products. When you dine with us, the food not only tastes better, it is better for you! We have a great new location, decorated a little differently; more feng shui than our Victorian feel of the past. The new location in Roswell is four blocks north of the old location at the corner of Woodstock Rd. and Canton St. (1169 Canton Street, Roswell, GA 30075). Located behind the Raiford Gallery, the new location has the best outdoor dining in Roswell. Our phone number is 770-594-8822. I would like to offer a discount to anyone who has had an unpleasant experience. Please contact Catherine at info@mitties.com and leave a brief description of your complaint and your contact info. Please update your critique after you dine with us again. We value your input. A big thanks to all who visit Mittie's; we strive for you to be healthy, happy and well-fed when you leave.

Mittie's is a wonderful destination for anyone who desires good service, wonderful culinary delights, and personal touches. I have been a patron of Mittie's for the last 20 years and never been disappointed. I took some out of town family with young children on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, and their reaction was one of delight. The children were treated royally as were the adults. We each had a wonderful lunch, wonderful conversation, and a warm welcome. I have recommended Mittie's for years and have never had anyone who was not pleased and 'hooked'. I have traveled all over the world and Mittie's is still my favorite place. Thank you Lynn for the wonderful culinary destination you provide with an extremely high standard of service and dedication to the enjoyment of each patron. Ann

I visited Mitties yesterday to spend some time reading and to enjoy a nice cup of tea. I felt awkward from the moment I walked in as none of the servers said hello to me although they were all standing by the door. I was seated by a window but it was still pretty dark in the restaurant, not the best atmosphere to read. I was very disappointed with the way my tea was served, no pretty tea pot or tea cup and was also annoyed when I realized the tea pot only held enough tea for one cup! From now on I will have tea at the Mittie's on Main in Alpharetta, much better ambiance!

I was in the final stages of planning a baby shower tea party for two of my very pregnant friends. I talked with the event planner there and told her I would come visit Mittie's and drop off the $50 deposit then. When I arrived, the place had just opened so no one was there. The staff would barely speak to me and when I asked a questioned looked at me as though I was intruding! The place was not decorated as I had imagined but I was still in the mindset of having the party there. Every question I asked was brushed off or answered with a bitter reply. When I went to write the check I asked for a pen and a staff member stated,'You don't have one?' with a very nasty tone. I think I must have been in complete shock cause I wrote them a check. About 5 mintues later while driving in my car the whole experience hit me and I turned the car around went back into Mittie's asked for my check back and told them they had nasty attitudes!!!! I can't say if my treatment was racially motivated, but they apparently didn't want my business and I am african-amreican. The Fickle Pickle Cafe just down the street was very nice to me and I'm having the shower there!
