I did a random internet search this past Friday evening for a nice tea room and found Communitea Café in Watervliet in Dayton, OH. My husband and I went the following day and had the most wonderful service! Heidi and Leah were just exceptional in customer service. We had such a nice time! We'll definitely be back soon. The homemade scones with real clotted cream from England that they always have on hand was delicious. They have a great variety of teas to choose from. We ended up sharing a large pot of Paris tea and it was delicious! Such a nice time there.

I recently hosted my sister’s bridal shower at Communitea Cafe. The place is just lovely and the staff were wonderful. I believe the main woman who helped us that day was named Leah. The cafe unfortunately had their furnace stop working the night before our event, but the staff were as accommodating as possible considering the unforeseen circumstances. I would highly recommend this location for things like bridal showers, especially when you think about what the cost of having tea and food at home would be if you bought all the materials at the grocery store, and when you think about how nice it is to not have to do any of the manual work for a lovely event!

I hosted a bridal shower over the weekend at Communitea. We had the Paris and Wedding blends and they were absolutely fabulous. I also recommend the mother's tea. It was so delicious and safe while I was pregnant. And you can't leave without having a scone!

Communitea was my first tea room experience. A friend had discovered the place and suggested we take my daughters, ages 8 and 11. We had a wonderful time. Dawn, the owner, was so great with my daughters and even took the time to show them some proper tea etiquette. We have made several lunch visits since and even enjoyed High Tea a few times. Love, love, love Communitea!

A friend and I stopped in for lunch for the first time. I will definitely return to enjoy Communitea Cafe! The food was very good and reasonably priced. The owner and staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The cafe is very relaxing and nicely decorated by vintage wares. There is a little side room with hats, jewelry and other props so you can take a fun photo.

My husband and I stopped in for tea this afternoon for the first time. The atmosphere here is so cute and dainty and there was a party of little girls wearing hats and gloves that just made it even more adorable. The scone with clotted cream and jam was the best I've ever had! We also enjoyed the Hawaiian sandwich and crisp winter salad. We loved this place and will definitely be back!

Just enjoyed lunch and tea with a group of friends today. All the teas were delicious, as was the soup and chicken salad sandwich. The owner explained each tea and we enjoyed trying different ones. It was a very lovely way to spend time with good friends in a really sweet atmosphere. Would highly recommend it for an afternoon luncheon or a shower. Loved it and will definitely go again.

A variety of teas: raspberry was great. Also lavender lemonade. Great sandwiches and scones. Decor is quite interesting - there were 10 of us and we all modeled hats that were available to try. It is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday and we plan to check out their soup and sandwiches, too. It was a fun place to spend a few hours - much different than most lunch spots.

Hosted a High Tea Birthday party here. Great way to celebrate. Nice variety of sandwiches, and finger food beautifully presented. Loved the local stories behind several of the decorations. I'm a big fan of the variety of tea pots and teas. I love that you get to choose your tea pot. Dawn and staff know their teas and are wonderful at helping with the selection. Best of all is the neighborhood vibe. It is a fun place to visit with quality tea and food. I will return as will many of my guests.

Today was my first visit to Communitea for a birthday high tea, and it was fabulous! The beautiful China tea pots and tea cups as well as the embroidered tablecloths and overall decor put me a warm, nostalgic mood! The raspberry herbal tea and Paris tea of the day were wonderful as were the lavender lemonade, cucumber sandwiches, and chicken salad sandwiches. As for the scones with clotted cream and seedless black raspberry jam, they were to die for!! Our group of 10 shared a lot of laughter as we chose our hats and props for a photo session.

The owner and helper were very warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back again soon!

Visiting Communitea was my first tea event ever. I'm not really a tea drinker, but I thought it would be the CUTEST thing to take my mom to out to lunch for high tea. I was right! The owner and staff were very welcoming and helpful with our experience. As I don't drink tea, I let my mom choose what to get and they helped with the process since we both prefer decaf drinks. We chose the Raspberry herbal tea, and I recommend it. It's very light! The normal lunch fare offerings are soup, sandwich, salad, scone, and of course, tea. They have a great lunch special that I will try since I've already tried high tea. They bring out little finger tea sandwiches of different varieties, petite desserts, and finally a nice scone with jam and clotted cream. Afterward, we were invited to play dress up if we wanted, and take some pictures in a separate area with different tea props. I thought that was so cute and fun! My mom and I had a great time trying on hats and looking at all the neat collectibles. It's a very cute, whimsical, and calm tea room to enjoy an afternoon. I cannot wait to go back! If you can sneak away for lunch, I highly recommend it.

LOVE communitea! The house is adorable. Not too cluttered, but the decorations are fun! The food and tea are delicious. Dawn is easy and nice to work with when planning an event. She is very gracious and calm under stress. She does not hover or rush anyone. I have been there for a lunch with a friend and a high tea surprise bacherlorette party. I am so glad she added GF items because I have been really wanting to take my mom!! Dawn really cares about her business and the people that come to it! My experiences have been wonderful so far and I can't wait to have more! :)

Love this quaint lovely tea room. I love the decor - for me less is more, I don't like it when there is too much to look at. Love the shabby chic, whimsical, cottage style that CommuniTea has. The food was fabulous. We absolutely loved the red pepper tomato soup, lavender lemonade, scones and the Paris tea. The owner even sat down to chat with us. Highly recommend this tea room.

For my mother's 80th birthday I looked for a tea house with beautiful atmosphere, wonderful tea and some light sandwiches for a crowd! What we received was everything plus more! The owner, Dawn, entertained our group (ages 2 though 80!) with delicious sandwiches, perfect scones, iced strawberry tea and a variety of hot teas - my favorite was the Paris tea! She also served peppermint, and a decaffeinated tea. After a leisurely lunch with much visiting we were further entertained taking pictures of our different family groups wearing Dawn's collection of hats! we even had some photo bombs of the Queen! It was all quite a wonderful experience. I had many positive comments from my family about how enjoyable and perfect their lunch for mom's birthday had been. Thanks Dawn!!

This bright, cheery, happy little cafe made us smile as soon as we walked in. It's cozy cottage style was a hit with us. I loved the colorful vintage tablecloths and aprons, and we all enjoyed selecting our own teapots from the many different designs our hostess had on hand. The variety of tea sandwiches, tiny quiches, and other mini-goodies impressed me, and I loved the wedding tea I tried with its delicious vanilla flavor. Our hostess treated us like friends and offered not only to take our pictures but also supplied all the props: vintage hats, strings of beads, and ladies gloves like the kinds we wore as kids. What a nice afternoon!

My 7 year old granddaughter and I enjoyed High Tea today at this adorable little tearoom. I had called ahead to schedule (as requested) and was told that there would be a good variety of food that would appeal to both me and a 7 year old and we were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes early and were immediately greeted and told we could choose a hat from a very nice collection. We both loved our selection and Kate was delighted when she was also invited to choose our teapot. We ordered the Holiday tea by Harney, I believe, and it was wonderful. The food was beautifully presented and a very nice variety was on the dish. We tried everything and were happy to take the rest home (along with the most delicious blueberry scone we decided we've ever had)! The best part for Kate was getting to wear the fancy hat, a string of large pearls and gloves for pictures taken by the very sweet owner. All in all, a memorable and fun experience that was worth the price!

I was told about this wonderful little Tea house by a friend and decided to invite another friend to experience my first trip there. We were walkins and both enjoyed our time there and the food was wonderful especially since I eat GLUTEN FREE. I had no idea there would be items I could enjoy, I had thought I was just going for tea and was so surprised and pleased I ate lunch with a desert scone. The food was so delish. I brought a gluten free scone home for my husband and he is even willing to take a trip there on Saturday he liked the scone that much. Looking forward to my little outing on Saturday. Thank you Dawn I love the CommuniTEA house. See ya soon.

I took my mom to Communitea for lunch today and never expected the walk through memory lane it gave us! We walked into a bright airy dining room and were pleased with the total experience! The vignettes scattered around the room brought back great memories for my mom. It was very inviting in every aspect! We had the most delicious chicken noodle soup followed by two differently tasty sandwiches! The cranberry-turkey sandwich was a scrumptious surprise! The offering of tea was well varied and flavorful! We enjoyed earl grey decaf and a wedding blend with a hint of vanilla! We spent a good deal of time talking with the very welcoming owner, Dawn, and look forward to the vision she has for the tea room/cafe! We finished the meal with a cherry scone that was like none other!!! She offer a gluten free selection that will make returning with GF friends so much easier!! Thanks for a great experience!

Lovely little tearoom with Harney bag teas - even one decaf (Earl Grey). Foods are home-made - with a scone nearly as good as the best I have had. Even REAL clotted cream! Excellent variety of tea goodies - sandwiches, desserts, fruit. Well done. Pleasant staff and proprietor. Interesting tea things - pots and cup/saucers. Missed the cozies for the pots and cloth napkins though. Plenty of food and tea - with good choice of Harney teas.

We will go again. Jean 2/27/15

I took my wife for what was billed as a deluxe high tea for Valentine's Day. I had to park a full block away on a very cold evening since parking is almost nonexistent. It was decorated cute and there was nice music to set a mood. I have taken my wife to tea rooms in the past for her birthday etc. so I thought I knew what to expect. I could not believe they limited the tea choices to three when my wife had informed me they had over a dozen on the regular menu. A tea shop that doesn't offer a selection of tea? We were never able to get the waitresse's attention to get a refill or to get any sugar. I borrowed some sweetener packets for my wife from another table. It was all very disorganized. The really bad part was my wife has to eat gluten free and she was assured when she made the reservation that it would be no problem. It was a big problem! They put the gluten foods and non gluten foods on the same plates! My wife had told them I would also eat gluten free if it would make it easier. It was very unclear what might be safe for her to eat and what would not. What should have been enjoyable was stressful and anxiety producing. The two deluxe items we paid extra for were only offered in a gluten version so my wife was unable to partake. She was looking forward to the gluten free scone for dessert to try the homemade jam and imported clotted cream but her scone came out of a bakery box with neither additions. I will not be going back and I do not recommend to anyone who inquires.

I went there when it first opened with two friends. We had a great time and everything was delicious. The scons are the best. I am a Red Hat person and have been to several Tea Rooms and this ranks up there with them. I am in Florida for the winter but will pay a return visit went I get back. I really enjoyed my first visit to Communitea! My friend and I each had an individual pot of tea (I had rose tea, which was delicious). They had a variety of black teas and at least one green tea, but no herbal or decaf. I had a blueberry scone with homemade jam and clotted cream (which was amazing), but their menu also includes sandwiches, salads, and soups. They also serve High Tea with finger sandwiches, scones, etc., but the owner mentioned that she prefers if people mention that they want High Tea when they make reservations. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and probably should have made a reservation because they were busy! The decor is so cozy, and the owner could tell us where most of the tea cups, tea pots, and china came from (most are from her own personal collection). At the end, she offered to take our picture while wearing old hats from her collection too. It was such a fun time!

Communitea Tea Room is a beautiful and calm atmosphere. Dawn does a great job on decorating. The day I went Raspberry Tea was the special and it was a bag tea. I picked out my own special teapot, which was fun to do, and she brought me the tea to my table. I also had homemade chicken noodle soup that was very filling. To top it off Dawn served me a scone with homemade jam and real English clotted cream. OH MY was it good!! I would definitely recommend Communitea Tea Room to all my friends.
