I adore this place. I have had their afternoon tea several times and it's always amazing. They do themed menus which add a bit of extra fun. The food is always fresh and homemade and of course the tea is excellent. The atmosphere is cozy. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I've also purchased loose leaf tea to take home from me and it's also great!

Had a lovely lunch with my sisters. Server was helpful with assisting us in selecting entrees. Food was so fresh as owner uses vegetables from her own garden.

      Quaintly decorated with tea ware.

Will return for a third time!

Of all the tea rooms I've gone to, this is still my top choice. The owners blends teas and the choices are always delightful. The food is wondeful and goes way beyond the typical finger sandwiches. Scones change monthly. Christmas and holidays teas are very special.

Just got home from having tea with my D-I-L and Granddaughters. It was delicious and there was something for everyone. Homemade food and lovely presentations. They loved the decor - teapots and hats. The girls are already planning to come back when their cousin comes to town.

I have been going to this tea room almost since it first opened in 2002. Although some things have changed through the years, the wonderful seasonally inspired foods from the garden of the owner, the homey feeling and charming decor of the tea room and the friendly and efficient service have stayed the same. I have brought family and friends here for many afternoon tea services and have had events catered from here all to the rave reviews of everyone who was lucky enough to partake in the creations from Pam Geralds. Many of the condiments used in the delicious foods offered are for sale along with the extensive loose tea offerings. In addition, a variety of interesting workshops and cooking classes are available. This is definitely the place to go for a relaxing afternoon with an ever changing and interesting beverage and food menu and I will continue to highly recommend Pinecone Cottage Tea House and Catering to everyone!

On June 2, 2016 our Downers Grove M.S. Book Club met to enjoy our last gathering before our summer break celebrating with a High Tea at your facility. Thirteen book club members were in attendance and all gave rave reviews to the experience from the minute each person entered your quaint tea house until sadly we departed for home. The unique table settings, tasty healthy food served and the welcoming personalities of the servers contributed to a pleasant afternoon. We appreciate you opening 1/2 hour earlier to permit a short book discussion. What a find you are in Downers Grove!!

The variety of tea choices was robust (just like the Highland Tay I had from Scotland). From white to green, black to Russian, decaf to tisanes, and more. Unlike a traditional high tea menu, there was soup and a lunch buffet ... but also scones, Devon cream, jam, and a sweets table. The coziness of the tea house was ladylike and fun. An eclectic collection of plates, cups, saucers, flatware and cream/sugar sets dotted each linen-covered table. Rustic chairs were comfortable with pillow cushions and decorative ribbons. Hats and teapots graced the walls. The owner, Pamela, her assistant and her mother were gracious and friendly. In a word, this tea house is 'perfect.' PS: Drivers will find lots of free parking, on the street or in a neighboring lot.

This is a small cozy place. It was very enjoyable. I would highly recommend. Make a reservation. We went with 2 teens, 1 senior citizen and 1 adult. All loved it! Enjoyed Paul, the server and host. He explained everything that he was served and how it was made. We all appreciated that. Our group likes to try different tea places (Drake Hotel, Pickwick Society in Frankfort, Russian Tea Room) and this was our favorite! We especially liked the different courses. They were brought out separately and when you are ready--not everything at once like the Drake.

Along with my daughter-in-law Kate I hosted a baby shower for my other daughter-in-law Morgan. the Pine Cone Tea Room was the perfect venue for this occasion. I love how they change the decor and the menu for the season. We enjoyed the beautiful Fall decor and the Fall menu. A favorite was the pumpkin soup and the caramel apple tea. There were other loose tea and tea bag selections. The tea savories

and scones as well as desserts were all to die for! It is such a cozy atmosphere that you feel you are in your own home but everything is done for you!!! The service was fantastic. The server explained everything that was being served to each table but all in a timely fashion. the own er Pam is gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend this tearoom for a wonderful experience.

My mom hosted my baby shower here a few days ago, and it couldn't have been a more perfect venue for the event. The charming atmosphere and attentive service made all the difference, and a variety of teas (double lemon apricot iced tea, loose teas, and bagged tea) pleased a variety of palates. The gourmet food was incredible--made with fresh herbs and vegetables from the owners' garden. Even my foodie friends were impressed. I would definitely recommend this place!

My friends and I first went to this tea room for my birthday. The decor is so beautiful and unusal. I recommned a late PM visit as the ambiance is so enhanced when dusk arrives and the sparkly lights shimmer and the lights are dimmed. The food is amazing and also unique to what I've had at other tea rooms. Pam, the owner, is a creative & inspired cook (and has quite a fashion flair with her gorgeous vintage hats and clothing). She and her husband Paul, are gracious & attentive hosts. We went back for a soup class last night and learned how to make 5 AMAZING soups. We helped to chop and dice along with Pam in the kitchen and then, when the soups were finished, we got to enjoy each of them with a pot of freshly brewed tea and Lucy's (Pam's mom) famous sweet bread. We had a wonderful time and took home some great recipes. Both visits were exceptional. This place is a gem and I will continue to return for the food, the atmosphere and the experience!

The cozy environment was perfect for the baby shower we had here. The room was seasonally decorated with snowflakes and many lovely teapots. The 4 course tea menu included a great winter lentil soup, savories, and sweets. There was a choice of a seasonal tea [cinnamon vanilla] as well as a hot bishop [warm fruited beverage]. Everything was freshly made. Pam was very flexible to work with and the service was very personal. Would highly recommend. We were worried about parking but there are

      two free lots very near.

The owners, Pam and Paul, have a real gem here. We hosted a Bridal shower for our niece at the tea room and it was wonderful!!! The service was great! Paul and Robert did a superb job beginning with the welcome punch which was offered to guests as soon as they arrived. Once the tea began, they went to each table explaining the many teas offered and followed up with prompt attention and service. The atmosphere of the tea room is magical. You feel like you're in a cozy cottage tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life having a wonderful tea experience on grandmother's china; and the food was fabulous! Pam is extremely creative with her menu and presentation of each course. She uses as many fresh ingredients from her garden as possible to create mouth savoring delights. She delivers each course personally, explaining each dish to her guests. From the unique salad she served that day to the wonderful variety of tea sandwiches, to the bubbly buttery brown sugar plum tarts, everything was delicious! Our niece was thrilled with the shower, to say the least, as were the guests. I would definitely recommend the Pinecone Cottage Tea Room to anyone wanting to make a memory for a special event in their life OR if you'd just like to have a nice afternoon tea.

The perfect combination of warm and welcoming ambiance is a hallmark of fine dining. Pam and Paul create a delightful atmosphere for guests at their Pinecone Cottage Tea House.

On a cold and snowy Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2010, Pam hosted a memorable holiday bridal shower for our son Mark and his fiance' Molly. Lovely holiday decor and sounds of the season complemented aromas of warm Wassail and Spicy Christmas Berry Tea. Bushia's Polish Mushroom Soup, Potato Pierogi, Tea Sandwiches, and fresh baked scones with home made jam were prepared by Pam and her Mom the morning of the event. The traditional Holiday Sweets Table was definitely, the 'icing on the cake.' Paul and his gentleman assistant's professional and entertaining table service amply filled our hearts with happiness and good cheer!

The bridal shower gift table and cozy space around it made for an intimate gathering place for the bride and groom to-be as they read messages and opened their gifts.

Our family and friends are grateful to Pam and Paul for the best Christmas Tea-Time Shower EVER! 'God bless us every one.'

I had the joy of having tea twice at the Pinecone Cottage this Christmas season. First time was a mother-daughter tea...the service was excellent, selections superb for both the moms and the 9-10 year old daughters and everyone had a great time. Based on that experience I brought two out of town girlfriend's to an afternoon tea service. It was even better! The care and joy they have for the tea is amazing--they explain all the available teas to you in detail, the menu (which changes monthly) has seasonally appropriate food and it is all fantastic! And the setting is really sweet...a truly great experience!

Two other notes: while this was afternoon tea, there are 3-4 generous courses, so it will really fill you up. And also, the store owners are really good to the Downers Grove community. In the summer, the owners will frequently put out a cart in front of their store with free homegrown vegetables; and at Halloween when kids in DG can trick or treat at the downtown stores, Pine Cone cottage always has a gourmet spread out for all to partake of, for free.

Great service, amazing food and tea and caring community members...Pine Cone Cottage is awesome!

I first discovered the Pinecone Cottage Tea House in 2008 when looking for a place to send my mother-in-law, my wife and her sister for a family celebration. The reviews I read at the time were A+, so I took the plunge and made plans. The 3 girls had an absolutely wonderful time, enjoying the tea, food, friendly personal service and atmosphere. Since that initial visit, it is now a monthly tradition for them. Sometimes my wife and I go on special occasions. In fact we're attending our 2nd annual soup making class together this very evening. The location is perfect, in an easily accessible downtown area of a western Chicago suburb. There are always things to do in the area before and after to make it a fun day. Ask Pam and Paul for their recommendations. Favorite teas include Marzipan, Irish Mist, Christmas Cookie, Chocolate Truffle and Chocolate Covered Strawberry. The mixed tea drinks are always good too. And the food is excellent, creative and presented well. Thank you Pam, to you and your family for creating such a special environment to enjoy quiet conversation and delicious tea.

Had my daughter-in-law's baby shower at the Pine Cone Cottage and it was just delightful! It is the perfect setting for that special event. The use of their garden in the preparation the food makes it very special. Pam and her husband Paul did a wonderful job and the service was great! Also, Paul was very helpful in explaining each course. Thanks for a wonderful time!

My first experience was in Feb. 2009. I went with a group of gal pals for bday tea/luncheon. Service was great, atmosophere perfect for a relaxing chat time with the friends. Loved my tea, had comfort soup, the staff was engaging and personable. Huge fan of the comfort soup, asked for a private cooking class. Cooking class was my 1st experience, we had the entire place to ourself. The class was organized and recipes were explained. after cooking, we had tea, soup and the company of freinds and staff.

I have had the opportunity to visit the Pinecone Cottage Tea House several times in the past year. In each instance, I have had a wonderful experience. Pam changes her menu each month and it is always very creative and I have yet to taste anything that was anything but delicious. She always has two types of tea's as specials of the month, but there is also a separate tea menu to choose from. Pam creates all of her dishes herself and the atmosphere is small and cozy. I have recommended the Pinecone Cottage Tea house to others and with 2 people or a larger group, you can't go wrong.

I have now been here seven times over 2008/2009. On my own, with my sister's red hatters and for there Thanksgiving sides class.

While not overly comfortable on there types of chairs, my size, i think it is a charming place.

You are first served, buffett style, a cheese-fruit-cracker course. Then everything else brought out to you. Fresh, tasty, plentiful.

Seperately they offer classes on various types of sides, desserts etc. throughout the year. Price for them is reasonable and you get to eat what you make. GO TO THEM, informative and fun.

The cream of cauliflower soup was outstanding, the Hot Bishop beverage cozy and tasty, the savory course a delightful variety of foods. I have both attended and hosted work and personal functions at the Pine Cone Cottage and each event has been an utter delight! The menu is marvelous and changes with the seasons so you can go back again and again without repetition(unlike some of the downtown Chicago places which have served the same menu for decades now). The atmosphere is perfect! You feel that you have stepped into a more gracious time and place and you leave eagerly awaiting your next visit. With clients, colleagues, friends or relatives, for special occasions or just 'because', the PCC is an excellent choice!

Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and cheerful despite the dreary weather outdoors. We were able to take as much time as we needed to have a relaxing and enjoyable time together. The setting seems small when you first enter, but it is very comfortable and intimate, the perfect setting for a gathering of friends and family. We had a lovely time at Pinecone Cottage, although we were the only customers on a Friday afternoon. We were served promptly even though we were twenty minutes early for our reservation. Service was excellent and so was the food, although the salad was sopping in its dressing, thus the 'good' rather than 'excellent' rating. The scones and deserts were especially good - not too weird, not too pedestrian. The teas we ordered were FABULOUS - one herbal, one flavored black - and we were pleased that we could purchase the blends to take home. The monthly menu available online or in print just outside of the shop is very enticing and helped us choose when to visit and who to bring along.

Great location right next to the public library and a lovely country-french-cottagey room with plenty of privacy for each seated party. We're planning to take out-of-town visitors just as soon as someone comes to visit!

The Baby Shower my sisters and I gave for my niece was delightful. My many questions before the event were given a prompt response via phone or email. On arrival, Pam poured punch for each guest as we walked around the quaint, garden-like setting enjoying the menagerie of place settings and teapots adorning the tables. Bag teas were available but the special brewed tea of the month was a must. Pam explained each course as it was presented. Fresh spinach salad with vinaigrette, stuffed phyllo wrapped in prosciutto, carrot/cream cheese sandwiches, melt in your mouth scones with unsurpassed cream spread were a few of the offerings. The dessert table displayed incredible chocolate strawberries, lemon cake, cookies, etc. which we nibbled on throughout the gift opening. Tea and coffee were plentiful. So impeccably clean, we decided we could have eaten off the bathroom floor. A wonderful experience that my sisters, friends and I will share again and again. Thank You Pam

saturday april 5th arrived faster than we imagained and the service, food, and experience were wonderful again! the spinach quiche, prosciutto tarts and the carrot cumin tea sandwiches were incredible!

After hearing rave reviews of the tea service, we opted to hold one of our book club meetings at the Pinecone Cottage. Reservations were made 5 weeks in advance with amendments made to the number of guests in the days prior to the event. The day of the event we all made special efforts to arrive promptly. Most of our group drove over 30mins to get to the location only to find that no one was there. One of my friends called and a male answered and promptly disconnected the call when we said that we had reservations that were now 15 mins past due. We waited around for another 15 mins and left. We ended up at Dali's Café, around the corner, which was absolutely fabulous. We would all drive out there to eat at Dali’s again but I don’t think I am headed back to Pinecone cottage again.

I chose Pinecone Cottage as the place to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. Since it was a milestone birthday, I wanted to take her somewhere that would be special and memorable. I could not have made a better choice. As I had already enjoyed the tea room before, I knew the treat that was in store for us. My friend was delighted with the loose 'Tea of the Montth' and thoroughly enjoyed the five course meal that accompanied it. All the food is made by the proprietess, Pam Geralds, and we eagerly looked forward to each course as it was served. We were overwhelmed by the finale - a sweet table with many different choices. My friend and I were pleased to see that our hot tea was replenished often, and kept the perfect temperature over a candle warmer. The ambience of the room is warm, inviting and comfortable. We had a delightful afternoon!

The Pinecone Cottage is a fabulous place to come and relax and enjoy the great food and ambiance. The food is excellent, and tea courses change monthly. The tea of the month is hand dried and compliments the monthly menu. I have been here three times, and each time had a wonderful experience.

We hosted a surprise b-day party for my sister-in-law at the Pinecone Cottage Tea Room in February 2007. The owner Pam was a delight to work with and very helpful! It's a small, cozy establishment decorated in an elegant country style. There are all different kinds of teapots around and used for serving. The watercress soup was incredible (never had it before!) and finger sandwiches were delicious. The Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Tea was fabulous and served at the perfect temperature. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. We will definitely be back!!

We had a bridal shower at the Pinecone Cottage Tea Room on July 16, 2006 for my daughter-in-law. It was so delightful! The sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the lemon scones were the best I have ever tasted. The service there was excellent and the featured tea had a pleasant, fruity taste - perfect for a hot summer day. Cold tea was also offered.

We were allowed to bring our own cake and sweets to the shower.

So many of our guest commented on what a pleasurable afternoon they enjoyed.

This tea house has great food and is a bit different than a traditional tearoom. The focus is less on the tea itself and more on the entire meal and experience. The food varies each month, and the tea service includes several items you would not ordinarily have in a tea setting, which I really enjoyed. We had a baby shower there which was a wonderful experience. The owner seemed a bit scattered on the phone, but when we got there our service was excellent. She let us stay as long as we wanted, we got the whole place to ourselves, she entertained the member of our party who was under 5 years old, and actually ended up charging us less than we had originally agreed on for some reason! The atmosphere is cozy and quaint, with a beautiful interior. Every course was well-made, and although I didn't personally like the selection of desserts she had that day, I loved everything else. It was a refreshing alternative to the traditional predictable tea service, and a great place to have a party!

I have been to lots of tea house, but Pinecone is an experience in itself! From the warm and cozy ambience to the attention of details and the food! Oh mine, the food! The food is incredible. This tea house offers and experience in gourmet tea food, if such thing exists. Every month the menu is different and I will definetely make this a monthly stop with girlfriends. The food is so delicious and surprising in flavor and texture that I was looking forward to the next item on the Menu. I just couldn't stop eating! I highly recommend Pinecone for anyone that wants good food, cozy ambience and great service!

Adorable tea room with fabulous food, great service and reasonable prices. Everything is quite original and done just a bit differently than the norm. Seasonal offerings from the owner's garden at home with all food homemade. An ever changing menu with monthly themes-according to seasons and holidays and menu selections taken from the owners extensive cookbook collection. Offers a unique newsletter with a personal touch. Also does catering, private parties, provides carry out meals and offers cooking and crafting classes. Extremely nice experience whatever you go there for.I've been to many local tea rooms and this is one of the best.I don't know where these other people have been but this is one place to go to for a wonderful and homey experience.

Quaint tiny tea room. More on the woodsy theme with large pine cones set around, pine cone wallpaper border, twig chairs which are cute but not comfortable. Not what I would consider an Afternoon Tea. Savories were blintzes, filled red potatoes and triangle chicken salad sandwiches. Although tasty, not what I would expect. Scones too cinnamony and dry, cream mixture to apply to scone not creamy. Sweet was a Pavlova with a swan cream puff on top. Not exciting.Uses loose leaf tea in tea balls but also has tea bags on table.

Would I go back again, no.
