I visited the Dusty Rose Tea Room yesterday with 24 lady friends for a Victorian High Tea. The experience was superb and I can't stop telling everyone about it. The moment we walked in we were warmly greeted by Jeannette who showed us inside the tea room. Our group was gathered for a complimentary old time photograph which we received during our tea. What a pleasant surprise that was. A fabulous selection of teas was served in charming teapots set in lovely tea cozies. The description of the teas were printed on a tea offering menu which included our organizations name and the date. Another surprise! One of the selections was their signature tea, the Georgetown berry medley that included berries native to the Georgetown area. Then came the decadent food, all made from scratch I might add & the fascinating stories. We were all drawn into the Victorian era gone by with not only the decor but also by the presentation of the teas, a scrumptious potato soup served with garlic parmesan crackers, spinach tarts, deviled eggs, meat pies, cucumber tea sandwiches, scones, sweets, etc. Learning the history behind some of the menu items made them all the more special. The atmosphere and staff was phenomenal and having visited other tea rooms, this one puts the rest to shame with their authenticity. It takes much more than a few old photos and antiques to provide a true Victorian High Tea experience and in my opionion the Dusty Rose Tea Room has gotten it right. I am a fan forever and will be bringing my out of town guests there in the future to enjoy the same lovely experience that I and 24 other ladies had yesterday.
