I went to Victorian Grace for a friend's bridal shower, and had a fabulous time. My mother and grandmother are English, so I am very familiar with tearooms, and I have to say that this was the most traditional teahouse I've been to in the US, with the highest quality of food/teas that I've ever had. I really felt like I was stepping into an old-fashioned tearoom in England. The tea was served perfectly - it was piping hot the entire time. Since I'm used to my grandmother always sending tea back because it's too 'cold', this was a pleasant surprise. I commented how I appreciated this touch to the hostess, and she told me that they have a special heater that gets their water to just the right temperature for the most infusion of the tea leaves. They even have a special tea blend made for them by Harvey and Sons which they served to us, and was quite delicious! The food was also fabulous. I'm not a chicken soup fan, but I could not get enough of the wonderful chicken and wild rice soup they served. I loved their very traditional cucumber and dill sandwiches as well as their chicken salad sandwiches. Their scones, however, deserve special mention. I've never had scones that are so melt-in-your-mouth delicious before! Their consistency and flavor were perfect, and the combination with the clotted cream and lemon curd were to die for. I wish I lived in Florida so I could keep going back for more! The pastry chef, who is a very lovely woman, even came out to check to see how we liked everything. To top it all off, the decor was SO interesting! Every room has a theme, still sticking with the Victorian style, and you can spend hours there just looking at all the different china and other decorations they have in each room! I'd love to go back there again, and have told my family about it in case they visit Tampa in the future!
