As the Maid of Honor it was my job to plan a bridal shower. I chose this place as it was the fastest to respond and seemed the most willing to do business. At the beginning I was quite impressed with this. But when we actually got there, my attitude changed. I am assuming it was the manager/owner who was there that day. I was told that Sundays were by reservation only, but upon arrival I was told that she decided to open the tea room to whoever wanted to walk in. The only reason I wasn't furious with this was because they had opted to set us off in a side room where we wouldn't be as disturbed by people coming and going. They were very willing to let me decorate as I saw fit, and for that I was grateful. We managed to make an absolutely lovely decoration in the bride's colors. But during the bridal shower we felt very rushed to proceed with our get together. At one point the woman walked in the midst of our party, interrupting us, and took a painting down off the wall, which she then returned to the cash register with to sell to someone. I found that incredibly rude. I understand that she has a business to run, but an 'Excuse me!' would have made it a bit less jarring. Finally, we weren't given a time limit on when we had to be finished by, so when we were still chatting (and had not even opened presents yet) the woman came in and asked if we wanted the cake cut up and separated out to give to guests as they were leaving. We were shocked, to say the least. It was obvious she was trying to get us to leave. The bride was incredibly offended, as were several of the guests. I myself was mortified that we, as a paying group, would be hustled out the door like that. To be fair, everything served was incredibly delicious and looked beautiful. They even went so far as to try and make it fun by letting us try on hats they had there. And the woman who was helping the woman that greeted me was incredibly sweet and helpful. But based on the way we were treated I will never return to that place and I dissuade all of my friends from going there either. I don't want them to be burned by the bad attitude and poor service of the people there either.
