Sweet Afton Tea Room and Restaurant
Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the Sweet Afton Tea House with my mother and sisters for a “ladies day” out in honor of Mother’s Day. The experience could not have been more enjoyable. We were greeted very graciously by the proprietor, Al Wilkerson, upon arrival and promptly shown to our reserved table. The table was set with beautiful linens and china. We chose to start our meal with a cup of house made soup, with high tea to follow. The soups (mushroom or asparagus were available the day we visited) were very good and served piping hot. Our teas were well brewed and presented in eclectic mix of beautiful china teapots. We really enjoyed the fact that instead of being a set menu we were given a choice as to what sandwiches, scones and pastries we wanted for our “High Tea”, everything chose was delicious. Throughout the meal our waitress, as well as Al and his wife Phyllis, stopped by our table to ensure we had everything we needed. We all truly enjoyed our leisurely meal to this tea house and look forward to our next visit. The Wilkerson’s have a way of making you feel like treasured guests in their own home which is a rare quality to find in these modern times.
