I'm rather new to tearooms, even though I had my honeymoon in Bedford, England which is where the origins of the afternoon tea sprung from. But even as a novice, you get the sense that the Tea Cozy has got it right. The location is a converted home off the main drag of Cambria, a super quaint village along the California coast. It's a lovely house with interesting decor and well-utilized space, by which I mean it's quite cozy. There's a 'secret garden' out in the back if you want a little more elbow room and privacy. The choice of teas is extensive and the menu is fairly large and varied, mostly having a British flavor. I had a Green Earl Grey which was great and my wife absolutely loved her Jasmine Blossom. My ploughman's lunch with Stilton was delicious while my wife finished off her scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam so quickly I didn't have time to steal a bite. The host and servers were all exceptionally welcoming and attentative without being too intrusive. The Tea Cozy also has it's own parking lot, which is a blessing on a busy weekend day when the streets get packed in this little tourist town. All in all, the Tea Cozy is a must-stop spot if you live nearby, are visiting or passing through on a coastal trip up picturesque Highway 1.
