Village Eatery and Tea Company
Hello, I wanted to give feedback of my experience with this restaurant, which was very poor. To begin with, we ordered 'High Tea', which is something I've had before at other establishments. There were 3 other paying customers with me. Two of which I was going to pay for as well at full price. We all agreed the tea and beginning course were wonderful, the salad was ok, more like something you'd get at a cafeteria, then when the tea sandwiches came, they were dry/stale, & some were more like ones you would serve to a 4yr old. The scones were just ok, and the toppings (cream/lemon curd/jam) were extremely small, maybe a 1/2 tsp each (again not like other places I've been where they give you a nice portion). The other deserts were also dry. This place is at best 'sub-par' and much too expensive for what you get. Not to mention the food was dry and stale. When I asked to speak with the owner about it, I made sure to mention to her that the tea and soup were wonderful, but...and I went on.. She was very rude and said 'I never receive complaints, I don't know what to tell you...' Then she started to walk away from me. I paused and said 'uh ok'. Then when she brought the bill, she almost threw it on the table and ran away. I would say she has very POOR customer service skills. For this reason and the food, I would never go there again. As a side note, the waitress was lovely and very nice, we tipped her well. For the owner of a restaurant, I would think she would know that sometimes you will receive complaints, but that is part of the business, and it should be dealt with in a professional and polite manner. But, I would never go back, nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
